I’m usually ok with most hotels but this one takes the cake with a bad cherry.
Firstly you’d like to know that Amber Hotel is a hotel chain and there are several “Amber” hotels around the area so make sure you are heading to the correct one. The reception looks shabby and the worst of all, nobody speaks English at this hotel. Some assume we speak Mandarin just because we are Asians but this is totally a bad assumption. There is no daily cleaning and you’ll need to request for towel change and replenishment of bottled water. They will not make your bed because they said there’s a “charge” (fee) for that which I cannot understand. We’re past COVID? Other hotels in Korea make the bed so why not this one?
Towels provided are super small - they’re more like face towels. Also, no dental kits/bedroom slippers/comb/ cotton pads etc - you’d need to get these from the paid vending machine at the lobby. The older photos in the review show that they are all provided but not anymore. They also included and extra single bed (which was it requested for) and this bed took up the space which was supposed to be a sofa/space for luggage. They display the sofas along the corridor of the level. So strange!
On a greener note, I believe this hotel was built just before COVID and suffered through the mishaps of COVID itself with zero maintenance and care. The interior itself is kinda aesthetic with nice fixtures and the bathroom is pretty huge. Simply to say - this is a boutique hotel gone wrong.
There is no parking too!! We barely parked at the handicap lot behind the lobby, and thankfully no wheels were clamped throughout the 3 nights we stayed in this hotel.
My take is to stay at Grand Hyatt which is just opposite this hotel - you get better service and a can have a peace of mind, really.
