Hotel di Shaxi Ancient Town, Jianchuan

A very satisfying family road trip! My personal favorites: 1. Cleanliness: Exceptionally clean and tidy. Every corner of the room was sparkling clean and dust-free, and the courtyard was also quite elegant and clean. 2. The environment is a traditional Bai ethnic wooden dwelling, with rooms featuring ethnic characteristics and a beautifully maintained courtyard. My favorite part is the fish pond surrounding the courtyard (shown on page 1). It not only efficiently utilizes space but also imbues the homestay with the aesthetic of ”a source of living water.” 3. The amenities are fully equipped for daily living, and the unique feature is that each room comes with earplugs. Despite being a wooden structure, the soundproofing provided by the original design ensures quietness between floors. 4. Parking: The parking lot is spacious and close to the roadside, making driving in from the main road smooth and easy, with no worries of oncoming traffic. 5. Location: Just a 5-minute walk from Sideng Street. There are also some friendly restaurants nearby, and transportation to the ancient town is also very convenient. 6. The atmosphere is incredibly friendly and down-to-earth. The hosts, members of the Bai ethnic minority, not only manage the daily operations of the B&B but also proactively offer assistance to guests wherever they can. Interacting with the host couple is like being among family and friends. As soon as our car arrived, they immediately showed us the way and helped with our luggage. Seeing us eating, they offered us paper bowls and disposable cutlery. They shared local specialties like traditional pear varieties and wild mushrooms. Seeing we bought refrigerated items in the ancient town, they thoughtfully found us a foam box with ice packs and packed them securely. Our conversations at the end of the day gave us a deeper understanding of the lives of the ancient town residents and Bai ethnic customs, and we were deeply impressed by their unwavering concern for their guests' safety and comfort. In short, choosing Ruining Bohai Courtyard was the best decision of our trip to Shaxi! Thank you so much to the hosts for their thoughtful care! The inn is very beautiful, it is a 100 year old house, at the center of the town so it is very convenient to go visit all places. The owner is also very helpful, he helped pick up/deliver our luggages to the street where we got dropped off/departed. He also helped us to reserve seats for shared car to the next destination and answered any questions that we have (via translation apps or wechat). Everyone in the inn is friendly, highly recommended for staying in Shaxi.

As soon as you enter the courtyard of this guesthouse, you're struck by absolute peace. The room is simple but has everything you need. The owner is incredibly kind. I want to thank her again for the way she looked after me and for her patience in helping me even though we spoke different languages.

This lovingly well managed boutique hotel stole our hearts the moment we stepped into the compound. Firstly, hospitality is at its best! Owner 潘姐 and her team are so welcoming and hospitable. We were so well taken care of throughout our two nights stay. Hotel is located within minutes walk to Shaxi old town. Fresh fruits and flowers arrangement grace the halls & rooms daily, making it such a charming and cosy place for guests to enjoy. Rooms are superbly well appointed with modern amenities & well curated furnishings. Bed and pillows are so comfortable that we slept very well. Breakfast is wonderful and delicious and there’s always a plate of fresh fruits served to us in the afternoons. Throughout the hotel, we see beautiful collection of Yunnan decorative ornaments well put together by Sister Pan. She is someone who puts in heart and soul into managing this boutique hotel & caring for her guests. We enjoyed our delightful conversations and were gifted a guide book of Yunnan authored by her husband董增旭. Thank you so much for the hospitality! Highly recommend this boutique hotel!

The inn is located in the center of the ancient town, making it very convenient to all attractions. The owner is warm and thoughtful, the courtyard is clean and tidy, the room is bright, there is plenty of hot water, and it is very quiet at night. I slept well until dawn. The only problem is that the kettle was broken and did not boil water.

❤️ Super recommended, especially quiet, most comfortable and comfortable homestay ❤️ Xixin B&B is a local B&B run by the owner and his wife. The B&B is strategically located in the field. You can walk to Yujin Bridge, Shaxi Ancient Town in 10 minutes. Although the car can't reach the main gate of the homestay, but communicate with the boss in advance when you arrive, the boss will come out to help pull the suitcase. It takes about 2 minutes to walk along the country road to reach the door of the homestay... I think this is the activity that should be experienced in the slow-paced life in Shaxi. Just in and out every day, you can feel the surrounding countryside. The room is also very spacious and novel. The furniture placement and design are very reasonable. The bedding is also very comfortable. What I like most is that the window in the house looks like an oil painting. Although the sunflower had thanked at that time, it was very pleasant to look out from the window. It was very comfortable to stay in the room all day. Since I travel alone, I am very lazy to go out for dinner. Special thanks to the boss and his family for warmly entertaining me for two days of dinner. I completely experienced the locals' home-cooked dishes. It is especially rare and very happy 😘 There is also a cute kitten in the yard. The breakfast proprietress prepared rice noodles and different side dishes for me. Especially warm I will definitely stay at Xixin B&B next time. This is exactly the slow life experience I want in Shaxi 🖼️

The location is excellent, and it only takes three to five minutes to walk to the ancient town, which is very suitable for self-driving tours and travelers with suitcases. The inn is quiet and has a panoramic view of the mountains. The room facilities are comfortable, the bedding is high-quality, and the bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The breakfast is delicious. The owner is hospitable and the service is thoughtful, making people feel as warm as home. In short, it is a very cost-effective accommodation option, and it is highly recommended to friends who pursue a high-quality accommodation experience!

The B&B hosts are incredibly warm and welcoming. The rooms are clean and tidy, featuring well-designed bathrooms with separate wet and dry areas, and all the facilities are quite new. The courtyard is beautifully decorated, and sitting out there at night, enjoying the breeze and stargazing, is incredibly relaxing. The breakfast Er'si (rice noodles) was absolutely delicious – I even found myself craving another bowl long after I'd left Shaxi! Although the B&B isn't right in the town center, it's still super convenient to reach all the local attractions – just a short walk away. Shaxi is a beautiful place, perfect for staying a few extra days to truly relax and soak in its charm.

The boss and his wife are very nice. They help with picking up and picking up luggage. The rice noodles made by the wife are very delicious. The room is antique, quiet and has a good view. It is very close to Yujin Bridge and the city gate. It is hygienic and clean, full of details and mineral springs. You can grab water and use it as you like. When I left, the boss even gave me a bottle of homemade fried mushrooms, which made me feel like I was home. I will definitely stay here again when I come back. I recommend it to everyone.

The inn is in the core area of the scenic spot. You can park next to the town. It does not affect the traffic. The core area of the scenic spot is not big. The inn is an old house for locals in the last century. There are two rooms in the suite. There is a bathroom. Because it is the peak season, the price is not low, let alone the price/performance ratio. Not to mention the sound insulation and the like. The old house, you know. The room hygiene is not bad, but the overall environment is average.
