The Seles Boutique Hotel

This a great hotel, suitable for those on a budget. It is really laidback and peaceful and great for anyone looking to get away from the stresses of everyday life. This is the second time my husband and I have used this hotel and since our last visit there is a welcoming new reception area. The rooms are clean and spacious. Would recommend this hotel to others.

I stayed at the Sheles Boutique hotel for 5 nights, I had a 5 star experience. The room was absolutely beautiful and the Customer Service was amazing also. The food was delicious, plenty of options for breakfast and was 5 Stars. I was burnt because I had sunburn and the hotel arrange for their gardener to cut me some fresh Aloe Vera, and delivered it to my room. I thought this was amazing and so thoughtful. There was plenty to do in and around the hotel and the beach was stunning. I ate lunch whilst watching the ocean. This hotel had entertainment on every night and it was fantastic entertainment, live music live bands, the owners and staff where lovely and passionate about their boutique hotel, and it was lovely to see. I would stay here again and recommend this Boutique hotel to my friend and family. Thank you for a great stay.

It is quite interesting the rates to this hotel on the platforms when actually it is a very poor one with a very bad service. We arrived at the hotel and we already knew we had been fooled. First of all, the location is very far away from any touristic attractions and on “***********” it clearly says “350m from city centre”, which is a lie. The hotel is located in a local village, where local people live, so it is so unfortunate that they made a hotel in this area just to bother the locals. Still speaking about the location, the beach is not proper for swimming, considering the amount of boats right in front of the hotel. The hotel is divided by 2 facilities, being the second one a struggle to take your luggage. The food is so expensive and totally not worth it. Not enough options for vegetarian people and for people who enjoy a nice meal, that’s the least you expect from a 8.5 hotel rate. The “included breakfast” is another lie. By the time you reach the “breakfast”, they will give you a menu in which you will choose 1 main dish, 2 sides and 1 drink, and to be very honest, if you are a person who eats well during the morning, you will not be full. Cleanliness is another point. We arrived and our bed sheets had stains of something, giving it a dirty look. Behind the bed was dirty as well, as you can see in the pictures. The room is ok but it’s missing basic stuff for tourists, such as a mini bar, hair dryer, iron, telephone and even TRASH BIN in the toilet, what kind of place is that? And of course you can’t contact the reception straight away since there’s no telephone in the room. And to complete, we were in the middle of a tour and the hotel contacted us saying that we would have to leave our rooms since there was another person coming that booked the room that we were staying, so unethical considering that we also paid a huge amount of money for this very bad place. What kind of service is that? Never had such a worse experience in any other place! Disgusting. Do not book this hotel or this area if you’re planning to relax or enjoy your vacations, very bad service overall.

Stayed at Seles for the last couple of days in Zanzibar. What an amazing place. Stunning setting right on the beach. If you are looking for a relaxed stay, great food and good service, this is it. Rooms was spotless and huge, bathrooms had hot water. The food was really really good, and as it is on the quieter side of Zanzibar, we opted to have all our meals here. Breakfast was a set menu with a couple of choices and was good. Please try their Uroa Brunch: FABULOUS and a great eating experience. We were lucky enough to be able to do the cocktail specials (from 4 in the afternoon till 7) and they very very good. Staff are very friendly and helpfull. It is an adult only hotel and have live music everyday. But was not an issue at all! Loved it! The beach is affected by the tides in extreme ways, but you are still able to swim and snorkeling is possible. Lots of water activities available around. There is a lot of sea urchins in the water and water shoes are recommended! The seating at the pool that looks onto the beach was defnitely our favourite spot! Will we stay here again: absolutely!!!

A little friendly paradise on the beach. I travelled with my two teenagers. Good food and fresh fruit every morning. Very nice atmosphere and staff. Music in the evenings. Clean rooms, mosquito nets. The staff helped me to book a driver from the ferry and boat trip (snorkelling, we saw dolphins!)

We didn’t book a room but stopped by multiple times during our vacation to have a drink by the sea. The view and food are quite nice, but the manager is horribly rude, downright aggressive and quite irate. Every encounter with him ruined the day. Drinks and food are alright but quite expensive for what it is. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

We enjoyed our stay in the Airbnb villa next to Seles and made it to the restaurant of our choice for most of the days. Incredibly beautiful location, delicious food, welcoming service team, strongly recommended. Best experience: fresh tuna (23 kg) as catch of the day. Awesome!!!

Perfect location right on the beach and with the pool just behind the beach too! Absolute paradise the photos don’t even do it justice! The beach is quiet which is perfect for paradise photos and not too much hassle from beach sellers but Seles has enough vibe and entertainment to keep you feeling the buzz. We loved the bonfire night and the karaoke night and even went out to the nearby (shirt taxi ride) Shambaland club one night so it’s good to know you can party if you want or have a quiet night in if you want! We saw other people from other hotels choosing to eat and drink in The Seles so we were pleased to be already staying there. The hotel staff and owners were amazingly friendly and very accommodating, and always on hand for anything you might want. Also a great location for doing a snorkelling trip to Mnemba Island where we saw lots of fish, corals and dolphins! We would 100% come back to stay at The Seles if we came to Matemwe again and would recommend for everyone!

We loved our stay at the Seles, the perfect place to relax, enjoy a beautiful beach or swimming pool under the coconut trees with great music and amazing food. The staff was very kind and accommodating, made us feel right at home. Our room was spotless with the comfiest bed and pillows. We will definitely come back!
