Mealea Resort
4.1/512 Ulasan
I can not believe this place has good reviews on TripAdvisor, they must be fake or paid for reviews. I just had 2 night here at Kep and chose Mealea based on positive reviews and the photos. Well what a dump. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It’s not a resort, it’s no better than a 1970s hostel ( even hostels today are better). It was dirty, old, poorly maintained. The room smelt of mould and sewerage and was so unkept. The linen was dirty and had holes in it. The mattress was old and vile and had no mattress protector ( I slept on the bed in shorts and T-shirt). The towels stunk of mould and were threadbare and 1 had a huge hole in the middle. The bathroom was vile and the floor was some type of painted clay and was always wet and stunk of mildew. I showered in flip flops and this is the 1st time I do this in a hotel ever. The pool was so dirty and slimy around the edge and the sun loungers were filthy (it would take 5 minutes to clean the lounges but nobody seems to care at this place). The breakfast served up the oiliest eggs I have ever seen and the bottom of the eggs were covered in black crap off the frying pan. The staff were unprofessional and at 06:45 each morning arrived to work and were chatting so loud it woke me up and I asked them to be quieter. They were yelling across the gardens to each other as they cleaned the bungalows and had no regard for guest peace and quiet. Very unprofessional behaviour. Nobody was available at check in and the guard took 5 minutes to find staff to help me. Same at the cafe, the staff were never there and you had to go look for the. They all seemed to congregate in a bungalow at the top of the garden for chat sessions. Overal, this place is the pits and do not ever stay here. The booking sites list it as 3 stars resort but it is zero stars and it shouldered removed from the major booking search engines in my opinion.
Vakara Hotel Kep
4.6/557 Ulasan
The hotel picked us up, free of charge from the bus station. All staff were polite and well trained in hospitality. The hotel is new and spotlessly clean. The Seaview room was large, had a good amount of storage but it was soulless. There are no restaurants or services near the hotel. The nearest mini- mart is1km away down mostly unsealed and unlit roads. Had the hotel been located in a more desirable location we would have rated 4 stars. It was approximately 2kms inland.
Tara Lodge Haven of Peace
4.6/525 Ulasan
This place is divine. Very small (I think only 8 rooms) and no it’s not on the waterside (but that’s a good thing). This place is about a 15 min walk to the crab market, 10 min to the national park, 10 min walk to sailing club … note there is no “town” as such so don’t look for being “in town”. For westerners there is no 711 or shopping street. It’s just one big food stalls and hammocks. But Tara lodge is unique. Beautiful pool, huge rooms, amazing restaurant and the staff (Jim especially) cannot do enough for you. We were here for 2 nights and we were the only guests (Cambodian election). We are in our 60’s from Australia and we walked 8km or more around Kep national park. There is a “convenience” store at end of the street which sells everything but the wine and beer at the hotel was great. Food was divine. The chocolate fondue… don’t share! 😀

Saravoan-Kep Hotel

What a great stay! Right on Kep beach, we arrived on a Saturday so the beachfront was full of families enjoying a picnic and day at the beach. Checked in, we had a room right next to the pool. The room itself was as per the online pictures and quite spacious.. The only down side was the harder mattress which are sometimes unavoidable in SE Asia. Given the water quality along the beach looked a bit hit and miss it was lovely to float around in the pool overlooking the to and fro below. The staff were really helpful, and the European manager has also taken a few steps to try and be more sustainable, such as water cooler near reception for water refills with a handy jug in your room, and the pool is salt water. No plastic straws or bottles in the restaurant. We ate lunch in the restaurant and it was very tasty and good quality, worth the cost which is about standard for Kep. Breakfast was also very good and selected off a menu. Delicious scrambled eggs and soft baguette. Would most definitely stay here again when visiting Kep.
Knai Bang Chatt Resort
4.7/519 Ulasan
solutely loved Knai Bang Chatt - a perfect hotel. According to their in-room information, the hotel is based around three colonial villas ”… built between 1962 and 1965 by protégées of Vann Molyvann, the renowned Khmer pupil of Le Corbusier. The iconic Blue Villa belonged to the governor of Kep, the Grey Villa was owned by a relative of the King and the Red VIlla was owned by the Head of Customs.” Everything about the hotel is high spec, with a focus on peace and tranquility. The sea used to be right up to the hotel, but is now about 100m away due to a government land reclamation project However, this does make the hotel very private and adds to the peace. We had a charming, spacious room, in the Red Villa, by the pool. Delightful. The pool is a good length and has plenty of good recliners, sun beds, etc. shady or sunny. The grounds are charming and well kept, with the Strand Restaurant at one end. The Strand serves an excellent breakfast with Western and Asian dishes, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit, freshly-squeezed juices and excellent fresh bread, made on the premises. We also ate lunch here and had excellent, creative dishes. The staff were excellent - everyone was so friendly, gentle, helpful and charming. We had a wonderful, relaxing and delightful stay here. A big ”thank you” to the whole team!
