Auberge St Jean Leopold

I booked a room, 5days before arrival, at kigali fantastic homes - but was transported to this place when no rooms available there... read on... When arriving at kigali fantastic homes, the staff there pretended the place was a private residence and would have left us outside if one of the other guests hadn't told us she was staying and helped us out. Finally, after the other guest gave us the WiFi, we confirmed that the pictures and address matched the property- so tried to speak to the staff again. They called 'Dallas' (who wouldnt speak to us, only his staff!)... An hour later, another "manager" arrives and takes us to an entirely different hotel across the other side of the city about a 40min drive away AT OUR COST!! (which also has some of the same pictures of swimming pools which don't exist on their listing with *********** - auberge Jean leopard next to the airport), nowhere near the restaurants/sights we'd booked to be close to, and makes us pay right at check in - they also charged us more than the agreed price (in Rwandan franc as opposed to the agreed usd so, being tired after a long day of travel, we didn't realise!) AND told us we have to pay extra for the breakfast that was agreed as free on the booking!!!! In the morning, we told them we wanted the refund of the extra payment amount or we'd keep the key - they LOCKED US IN THE GROUNDS OF THE PROPERTY and MANHANDLED US when we tried to get past them and they TRIED TO RIP MY PHONE OUT OF MY HANDS. I felt extremely unsafe as a woman in a foreign country. It seems there is another property (kigali homes rwanda) also on the same "partner scheme" As it also has the same pictures... neither of the properties we were at have the swimming pool they show in the pictures and says on their listing, we ended up paying extra for the breakfasts that were supposed to be included or they wouldnt let us out, no free airport shuttle that was in listing, in fact we had to take THEIR staff to escort us to the new destination... who knows what other lies on their adverts...??!

Waited for two hours for our food. This is more to have drinks, and get some food not to get too drunk... Although the food is really nice, authentic snack rwandan food like brochettes (especially the fish one). Fries are average. Staff is friendly except one security guard that once said, we were around March 2021 and I live close from there, that I shouldn't stand and watch the view in front of the empty parking (???) Very rude from him, I was just admiring the view...
