Aphrodite Beach

I am a solo traveler. I’ve waited a year to rate this hotel to see if my impression changed. It has not. If you travel by yourself, you know that many times as a solo traveler you have a chance of getting a poor room, or smallest, or least desirable because you are only one. When I wrote saying; hello, I’m excited to stay at your hotel! May I please have a double toom that is comparable to a double room given to two people? Maybe I worded this wrong…here is the response… Dear xxxxxxx, thank you again; kindly please note that we're professionals and we respect our Guests, who, despite their malicious comments, they always get the room type they have booked, no matter if they are solo travelers or family or couples, thank you very much. Your room is "Double room with a side sea view" and this is exactly what you'll have during your stay with us. We're looking forward to welcoming you to our beautiful island, Rsv Dept.

We stayed here for a week at the end of our trip, and this was our 3rd hotel in Crete. We were two couples and booked the recently renovated rooms, great choice. Really nice and cozy, modern and spacious. The pool is small but nice, the private beach is also a bonus if you fancy a lazy day at the hotel. The bar attached to the beach has a really nice terrace / shaded area. We had a few drinks there but never stayed for dinner as we never felt very welcome. We had lunch once and the food was ok. The breakfast wasn't the best we had for sure, but this wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the attitude we received from the staff. And when I say staff, I mean the man who we believe to be the owner and his son. They both never smiled nor acknowledged us once. The manageress (who I guess is the owner's wife) was very friendly and almost too nice at times, trying to compensate perhaps. All in all it wasn't a bad stay, the rooms were nice and the location is pretty good. Petronila on reception and Joanna in housekeeping were really helpful and smiley, shame the owner forgot the basics of hospitality. SMILE!

I am convinced that any bad review is just people trying to put others off of coming here so they can keep this secret haven for themselves! I never usually write reviews but I just had to for this place, it was just that special…. The most fantastic holiday with the friendliest Creten people! Staff were superb: Alkis, Manos & Artemis were the most hard working boys who were constantly on their feet and serving customers wonderfully, the reception staff: Sady and Petronila were so immaculately dressed, so helpful and so welcoming. The stars of the show are the managers/owners, man and wife (of which we unfortunately didn’t get their names!) who were so friendly, so welcoming, (the wife is so beautifully dressed all the time, my mum and I were just in owe of her everyday!) just wonderful and they manage the hotel like true professionals, everything runs like clockwork. We were on the 3rd floor in a beautiful room with a sea view. The beach was just idyllic, I can’t believe anyone could find fault with this place?! 3 or 4 sun bed rows deep, a lovely section of beach, not really stoney like the top end of the beach, with a nice area of water that is shallow enough to paddle in crystal clear water. It’s perfect for families, but also perfect for couples and for middle aged people like my mom and I (I am 30 and my mum is 61). I can’t fault this place, we didn’t want to leave. It is not touristy and ruined like many parts of Greece or Crete, but just perfectly traditional and welcoming. We’ll be back next year, and the next, and the next…!

Very customer friendly, friendly owners who will do everything to make your stay great. Beautiful location at the beach, nice swimmingpool, and a very clean place. Rooms are big. Bar at the beach with good food and drinks. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic location… right on the beach, a short walk into town with a great setting at the end of the bay. Great hotel, big clean rooms with a side sea view, a quiet setting, excellent breakfast and attentive room service. Wonderful staff, on reception, on the bar, at the beach, cleaning our rooms and all lovingly watched over by the lovely owners Aphrodite and Demetrius. We were really pleased with our choice, 3rd time on Crete, 9th time in Greece - Aphrodite Beach hotel is our favourite - we’ll be back next year!

Pros Good location - right on the beach and you can hear the waves as you sleep. Breakfast is decent, would be good with a few more vegetables. Coffee is really nice, is from a coffee machine with cappuccino, etc. Dimitri was a very nice man as the reviews mention. Renovated room is nice. Cons -No screens in the windows or the sliding door for mosquitos which do exist here. Would be great if at least the sliding window had a screen so we could leave the window open at night. The only major issue we had here. We booked a Double Sea View 2 1/2 months before arriving and at booking I requested a higher floor room. Again, before we arrived I called and spoke to the administrator and was guaranteed that our room would not be on the ground floor. (The ground floor is defined as the bottom level of rooms). If when I called it had been explained that we would not receive the room that we requested I could have cancelled the stay and booked somewhere else. When we arrived it was the ground floor room (111). We found out it was also an older room that had not been updated yet which was already evident from its appearance. It was not comfortable to open the blinds due to people being able to see inside. 
There was not any real space to place clothes on a shelf or dresser. It did not match the photos. In the morning I spoke with the admin and after arguing with her she finally decided she would “see what she could do”. We finally received the actual room we paid for and felt more comfortable after that. If this had been the case from the beginning we would have had no real complaints as everything else was satisfactory and pleasant with the stay.
