Wir hatten eine Sunset Villa und waren sehr zufrieden. Frühstück war gut wenn auch etwas laut und ein wenig Kantinen Charakter. Diverse Toast Sorten, 4 verschiedene frische Früchte, Pancake, Eier, Schinken, Bacon usw. War für uns gut für 4 Nächte. Im Resort kam man Abends auch mal gut essen am Beach. Waren 2 Tage an der Straße bei The Sisters essen. Einfach top.

Poor hygiene and lack of basic functionality.. Examples: - ot arrival the room was full of mosquitos, and sewage flies, on the second day we had an enormous cockroach in the shower and what I believe is insect excrements on the walls in the bathroom (looked like bed bugs but most likely just excrements). On the second day a 4 cm sculpture emerged out of the wooden counter above the toilet. I don’t know which animal makes those, but it stayed since the cleaners didn’t see it. - At arrival the freezer was full of brown splashes on the outside. It looked like someone threw up and hit the freezer. I told the man and gesticulated that it needed cleaned, he nodded, nothing happened. The next day, I explained again to the cleaner and to her credit she replaced it. - some of the toilets are okey, others below acceptable. By the pool there is no pedal on the bin, and since westerners don’t know how to use the bum-rinser (I’ve learned) the lid was full of human excrement which stayed day in and day out which shows to me that the cleaner are not thorough - If you order a drink in the bar you risk norovirus and many other unpleasant things that don’t make you ill but damages your teeth, The mixer uses a spoon that he sticks into the drink to taste it. Then rinses it under water to reuse again and again. Since norovirus can only be removed with either thorough wash with soap or above 70 degree water, and a person carries norovirus to pass on to others for up to 30 days , then that practice is just a catastrophe waiting to happen, apart from very disgusting. I don’t blame the staff (they probably don’t know these things), I blame management for not stating a simple rule: “trust the recipe and don’t taste other people’s drinks” as simple as that. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to change such practices. - morning buffet is alright, and some fruit are in containers, others are out and hence full of swarming fruit flies. I can live with that. - The rooms are cosy, There is way too little shelf space to store your clothes (family of 4), no proper mat to wipe sand of your shoes at porch, no where to hang all of your swim clothes and towels. This makes the day to day difficult and it’s difficult to keep a tidy and well-functioning room. That could easily be fixed. Also cleaning would be easier. - resort , food and location is otherwise good. Food is okay. Not amazing but fine. - Some staff are nice and smiling, however we noticed a lot of staff that don’t seem happy, which I personally find taints the overall experience . Generally speaking if you treat the staff nicely, especially female, they give 10 times more to the customers . The nature of women is to be warm and gentle, so it really shouldn’t be hard to keep them happy. Maybe this is related to the high season leading to them being understaffed, I don’t know. - It’s a shame that this resort fails on these basic hygiene factors because otherwise it could have been really, really good. The rooms / bungalows / beach were absolutely lovely . Very clean and so quiet. The area was perfect. The location was also good with walking in minutes to local bars and restaurants. Ver my good option at breakfast with an omelette station. Shower was quite poor - it been electric And the hotel could do with more signs on arrival (confusing to find)

If you want to sit by the pool and listen to screaming kids all day long this is your place! It's such a shame as the resort is lovely, the beach bungalows are cute, clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly :-) shame some of the clientele have no control over their children's behaviour! Screaming and shouting all day long! Avoid if you want peace & quiet!

My family, including two toddlers, recently spent two weeks at Southern Lanta, and overall, it was a fantastic experience. We opted for the sunset villa, which was definitely worth the extra expense compared to the family bungalows we initially considered. The staff were exceptionally friendly, the rooms were consistently clean (kudos to the diligent cleaners), and the pools provided ample entertainment for the kids. The proximity to the excellent beach, just a stone's throw away, was a definite highlight. Moreover, the location was ideal, with numerous restaurants within walking distance offering delicious food (with the exception of the pizza). A special mention goes to the staff who went above and beyond when we realized we had booked the wrong dates. Despite being fully booked, they managed to accommodate us, which we greatly appreciated. The atmosphere at Southern Lanta was perfect for families like ours, and we had the pleasure of meeting and befriending many other like-minded families. I would highly recommend this place to families with young children, although those without kids or with older children MIGHT want to consider their options. However, for this to be a perfect rating from me, there is one area that could use improvement - the gym. The facilities were subpar. The treadmills were inadequate for anyone weighing over 75kg and wanting to exceed 9 km/h, and the overall equipment quality left much to be desired. Additionally, the air conditioning in the gym was ineffective, making workouts uncomfortable. With some limited investments and minor effort, the gym could be significantly improved. Despite these minor flaws, our stay at Southern Lanta was overwhelmingly positive, and we would gladly return in the future (at least for as long as our kids are young).
