Had a mixed experience. What started with a good first impression changed to average over 3 days. Check-in - there was some confusion about our booking. To give them due credit, they made us feel comfortable while they worked to resolve the issue. Once the booking was located the check-in was smooth and we were escorted to the room. Room - Decent size & quite comfortable, although showing visible signs of aging, particularly on the flooring. There was a writing table in the corner. View from the room was decent and our window overlooked some apartment buildings across the road which were surrounded by the backwaters. It was quiet, and no traffic noise could be heard. The sleep quality too was decent. Bathroom - big and had glass walls in the corner (with curtains) looking into the bedroom. Amenities - A wardrobe, a digital safe and a tea / coffee maker, a mini fridge (not sure if that was functional). Free wi-fi with average speed. Bed - Queen-sized & comfortable. The sheets were clean & fresh, as were the towels provided. Bedside tables on either side, one with a telephone and a writing pad. Breakfast - Their breakfast spread was decent, consisting of cereals, juices, breads & condiments, South Indian as well as North Indian items, and a live egg counter. They even served Dosa. On the first day the service was slow, possibly on account of a large group that was staying at the hotel and were having breakfast at the same time. However, shortly after breakfast the group checked out and on the next two days the service was immaculate. Rajesh, in particular, deserves a special mention as he was always quite helpful and took good care of us. Room Service - On our first day we decided to dine in the room. Grilled sandwiches were listed in the menu but when we called to order we were told that only toasted sandwiches could be provided. We then ordered a Chicken Kathi roll & Noodles. Order took about 45 minutes and when it arrived, it was not very hot. The roll was mediocre, at best. I’ve had better rolls at roadside stalls, and it was disappointing that a hotel of this stature couldn’t provide good quality food, despite charging exorbitantly. This was the first poor experience. Second poor experience - the room key. Each evening, including the first day, whenever we returned to the room the key would not work and had to be taken to the reception daily for re-programming. On two occasions their staff Aakash accompanied us back to the room with the re-programmed key and one time, even the re-programmed key did not work, and he had to go down to get a replacement. Aakash was quite helpful during our stay. Checkout - there was again some confusion at the reception. I had prepaid for the room at the time of check-in but I still had to settle a food bill (about INR 970/-) and when I offered my card to settle it, the staff at the reception said there was some mistake and that I was only required to pay a sum of INR 229.10, which I did. Thereafter, he sai
