The dinner was good and the room was quite spacious. The hot spring was a bit small, but luckily it wasn't crowded.

If you seek a getaway to relax, recharge and refresh, this ryokan is the answer. The shared hot bath and the private pool hot bath were both great. Guest are in small number, only 3 couples hence the place felt we had it all to our self. The dinner and breakfast was amazing and they graciously caterred to our special diet request.

Second time in this hotel. everything is perfect. nice place and good service.

Service was good as expected of a ryokan. Great food served at dinner and we had premium wagyu shabu shabu. Snacks and tea provided in the room was refreshing. Quiet and peaceful. Loved the private bath which we paid a reasonable fee. Overall very value for money.

The hotel is located in a very picturesque spot, with onsen baths overlooking the mountain. We had a delicious traditional dinner with wagyu beef cooked on a hotspot and a traditional breakfast. The service was top-notch! We felt like premium guests. The onsen baths were empty, so we were there individually. But since we were a family, we also booked a private onsen bath. We also really liked the robes they gave us for our stay at the hotel; we felt like locals.

[Major Warning] This is the worst hot spring hotel we've ever stayed in in Japan!!! It's hard to believe that for 2800 RMB, we stayed in a hostel-like environment. First of all, the hotel had a ton of bedbugs. We had to call the hotel staff three times in one night to get rid of them, and the bugs kept buzzing. There were also a lot of enormous mosquitoes, which was outrageous... The air conditioner was incredibly loud, making it impossible to sleep at night, but it was too cold to turn it off! Secondly, the hygiene was terrible, with lots of mold in the bathroom! The food was also unpalatable and not fresh, made with very cheap ingredients! Furthermore, we stayed in the most expensive Japanese-style room, and when they made our bed, they just threw my pajamas on the floor. Was the floor cleaner than my pajamas? And the most outrageous thing is, when we opened our suitcases after changing hotels today, we found a bedbug inside! It's really disgusting... 🤢

Upon arrival at the hotel, I was immediately asked if I agreed to be upgraded to the main building. I inquired about the sudden upgrade but received no response. I only found out when I arrived… The outdoor bathroom floor was incredibly slippery. While showering at night, countless flying insects and moths swarmed around me. Every time I opened the sliding door, insects flew in – it was disgusting… It was just a typical tatami room at a Japanese inn, but compared to other hotels I've stayed at, such as the Atagawa-kan in Atagawa, the Yuraku-so-an in Jozankei, Sapporo, and the Takinoya in Noboribetsu, this place was simply terrible. The service was poor, and the environment was awful. I even slipped and fell after soaking in the hot spring at night – a very embarrassing experience. I woke up early the next morning, ate breakfast, and wanted to go back to sleep, only to find my blankets had already been taken away. I was exhausted. Dinner I ordered was also mediocre. Perhaps Hokkaido has spoiled me too much. 🥲

I went there on a weekend in June. There was a summer kawabe cuisine + art* dance + fireflies. The cuisine was average. It was dark in the second half of the trip. The outside was full of insects and lights. Then I dimmed the lights and watched the fireflies in nature for ten minutes. The scenery of the private bath was average, and the two baths were set up the same. It is within walking distance to the temple. It should be more suitable for travel during the maple leaf season.

The service attitude of the store owner is very good, and it is worth the price of this hotel. However, the room does feel a bit old, and the quilt is also a bit old. The hotel dinner was good for the first time, and it was filling and tasted good. The view outside the restaurant window is so beautiful, see Figure 4. Because the hotel is on the mountain, it is recommended to arrange a separate day to enjoy it here. There are various temples around to visit, otherwise it is a waste of time to travel back and forth.

This hotel left us with unforgettable memories of our trip to Kyoto. If you're looking for a place to truly experience Japanese tradition, enjoy tranquility, and receive top-notch service, I highly recommend it. While secluded, it's easily accessible. A direct shuttle bus awaits you at Hanazono Station on the JR line from Kyoto Station, ensuring a seamless connection. * **Impeccable Service:** Service is the hotel's greatest strength. The staff are warm, attentive, and meticulous. What surprised us most was that while we were out for dinner, they discreetly made up our comfortable tatami beds in our room. When we returned after breakfast, the beds had been neatly made again, and the room was once again a comfortable living space. This "invisible service" truly embodies the essence of Japanese hospitality. • Authentic Japanese Experience: While the hotel facilities do show signs of age, this is far from a drawback; rather, it adds to its traditional charm. We thoroughly enjoyed staying in a traditional Japanese tatami room, which was much more interesting and authentic than staying in a generic modern hotel. • Stunning Autumn Foliage: We stayed during the autumn foliage season, and the surrounding scenery was breathtaking. Strolling through the hotel courtyard felt like stepping into a living landscape painting. • Delicious Dining and Delightful Amenities: The included two meals per night were excellent, served in the refined style of ryotei (traditional Japanese restaurant). I must also mention their exceptional shampoo! It left my hair incredibly smooth, significantly enhancing the overall experience. The hotel facilities are somewhat dated. If you're looking for cutting-edge modern design and amenities, this might not be for you. However, please understand that this is part of the history and character of this long-established hot spring inn. • Highly recommended for autumn foliage season; the scenery is absolutely worth the price. • Enjoy the hotel's service and onsen (hot springs) to completely relax. • It's best to confirm the shuttle bus schedule with the hotel in advance. In short, this is an excellent inn that allows you to slow down and truly appreciate the beauty of traditional Japanese culture and the heart of the service. We will definitely visit again.

A very traditional Japanese hotel, it should be quite old, the facilities are quite old, the waiter's attitude is very good, always smiling, dinner and breakfast are very average, but you can eat enough. The only drawback is: it is called a hot spring hotel. The public bath is very small, only one person can soak, and the private bath is very difficult to book at night (4000 yen 45 minutes), which is a bit regrettable

Overall, it's worth it. There aren't too many tourists. We regret that we only booked a private bath in the afternoon. When we went to the public bath in the evening, we were the only ones there. How can it not be considered a private bath?

The hotel staff are very friendly. It's a great place to experience authentic Japanese culture. The private and shared spas are perfect for healing.
