First off, the hotel's location is absolutely fantastic! It's right up there with the Hyatt at Ninen-zaka. Being next to Chion-in Temple, it just sets the stage perfectly. All the main attractions are within walking distance. However, the hotel is quite old and feels a bit neglected in terms of maintenance. The cleanliness left something to be desired. The windows were dusty, and there was a lot of dust on the room's tables and other surfaces. The Japanese-style room wasn't very large; it felt a bit cramped. And there was an indescribable smell in the hallway carpet – was it incense? Or shoes? It really needs a renovation or at least a thorough overhaul. After all, it's been over ten years, and it'd be a shame to waste such a prime location. This kind of spot should be home to a super-luxury hotel like a Hyatt, Four Seasons, or Ritz-Carlton! To occupy such an amazing location and not maintain or upgrade it is truly inexcusable!

Excellent location, with a unique morning blessing ceremony. The hotel is in superb condition, and the service is great, perfect for an authentic local cultural experience. Most attendees at the morning temple blessing are Japanese. The rooms are spotless and the facilities are all very new.

The room is quite spacious. It's very close to Shijo, making it convenient for shopping. Located right next to Yasaka Shrine and Maruyama Park, the area offers beautiful scenery. Complimentary morning rituals are also available. The facilities are quite new, although the central air conditioning can be a bit noisy.

Convenient location, spacious rooms, and great toiletries. We even got a complimentary breakfast on our last night, which was a pleasant surprise. Thank you!

Be sure to try the hotel's morning ritual, a Buddhist ceremony known as the 'Morning Awakening Ritual'. The entire hotel boasts a distinctly Japanese design. It's said that Wang Sicong chose this type of hotel in Kyoto to unwind.

This is my second stay here. My previous booking was direct through their official website, but I found a better deal on Ctrip this time. A unique feature of this place is the opportunity to attend the temple's morning service and listen to Japanese monks chanting. What's more, it's conveniently located very close to popular attractions, making it incredibly easy to explore on foot.

The location is excellent, right by Chion-in Temple's Sanmon gate. It's perfect for an early morning visit to Chion-in before heading back for breakfast. Kiyomizu-dera Temple is also just a short walk away, and the route itself is incredibly scenic.

The hotel is located in a Buddhist monastery . It has curfew (need go back to hotel before 11:00pm) and has Buddhism ceremony in the very early morning. It is quite special experience staying here. The room is clean and quite and the surrounding of the hotel is tranquil .

The hotel boasts a beautiful setting, with wonderful views from the windows. Guests staying here also have the unique opportunity to participate in the Chion-in morning service experience, which offers a valuable insight into Japanese culture. The staff are warm and incredibly attentive.

The room was very spacious and quiet, perfect for a good night's sleep. All the facilities were excellent. Highly recommended.
