Hotel Riu Palace Tres Islas

Just returned from the most relaxing 7 nights at this hotel. A family of 2 teens, 2 middle aged and 2 elderly. Couldn't fault the hotel at all! Beautiful setting, food was good quality, plentiful and varied. Great selection for vegetarians too. The staff couldn't do enough to help us and the waiters/waitresses enjoyed banter too. We spent most days next to the pool. There are 2 pools (1 heated). They are clean and the heated pool has a ramp in to it to make it easier to get in and out. The towel changing hut is open between 8am and 1pm daily. Drinks are served by friendly waiters circulating the pool during the day. There is access to the fabulous beach on either side of the hotel; one side has steps, the other doesn't. A taxi costs approx 8 Euro to get to Corralejo which we found reasonable. We were advised by the rep not to take the bus as it is unreliable. The only 2 dislikes about the destination is the wind. I usually like a good breeze, but I suffer with asthma and the wind must have thrown dust and sand in to the air which made my asthma very bad a night time even with inhalers and I didn't sleep very well. Also, the currents in the sea are very deceptive and dangerous. My dad was dragged in to the rocks (looked like seaweed) and panicked because he couldn't put his feet down, and got dragged under the water. Another tourist also had emergency attention with CPR on the beach. The Spanish don't have flags to encourage you to swim between so ask where is safe. It is windy most of the time, making the sea potentially dangerous even though it is stunning. The wind and its effects on my asthma would stop me from coming to the island again sadly which saddens me as it it really was a great destination for all ages.

I would not reccomend this hotel at all especially for families with kids. There is absolutely nothing you can do here with the kids.They have no facilities or entertainment for kids whatsoever. Also the hotel is very dated inside and in need of an update. The food is below par as well in my opinion. All the sauces and gravys seemed to me to be made from granules as they were all sticky All the cheeses , salamies , cuts of meat etc were also the cheapest quality they could find. Food wise everything seemed to me to be focused on cost cutting. The most evident is coffee.You get instant cofee in the room , instant coffee for breakfast and the inky coffee machine with real coffee beans is by the pool bar which only opens at 10:30. To serve instant coffee at a premium all inclusive hotel is unnaceptable in my opinion and reflects clearly on the cost cutting policies they have in place.

A little dated but with loads of charachter. Rooms are spacious with fantastic views. Quite a small complex, so everything within easy reach. The beaches are wonderful, as is the sea. Restaurant food was very good with lots of choice. The only thing we didn't like was the wild birds flying in and out, helping themselves to bread, sandwiches and cake. This often leads to upset tums and needs to be sorted. Staff were all fantastic. We will be back. Sort the birds out.

This is not our first visit to this hotel and would normally give it 5 stars, but this time we had a couple of issues. The reception staff always give you a great welcome and look after you the whole holiday, whether you need assistance with serious issues or just want some football banter. 5 Star Reception service. Our room was of a very good standard...yes the same furniture is still in the room as it was many many years ago, but it is not shoddy and I love the fact we had two large wardrobes with lots of hangers and also lots of good drawer storage. The beds were very comfy and we slept like logs every night. The room looked like it had fairly recently been re-painted, so all was good for us. The bathroom was clean and in good condition. Our housekeeper kept our room spotless ..... as with the rest of the hotel everything was spotless. 5 star Housekeeping service. We booked our holiday as HB but upgraded to AI at the hotel (cheaper than doing through the travel agent!) and were slightly disappointed with the standard of the drinks for AI guests. In the piano bar, AI guest had their drinks poured in the back, whereas HB guest had them poured in front of them so you never really knew what you were getting and I think sometimes the alcohol didn't go in to the cocktails. The coffee for AI guests was out of a machine whereas HB had coffee freshly brewed. The service for AI guests also felt a little bit second class, it shouldn't happen but it did. Having AI meant we had a mini bar in our room, which was refilled daily. If you don't like the options of soft drinks, beer in your fridge, you can request a change as long as they have the drinks in cans. We don't drink full sugar coke so we had this swapped to coke zero. Food in the restaurant was of a good standard and the restaurant staff and chefs were lovely, BUT at the time we visited the hotel had a huge issue with birds in the restaurant that were sitting on and eating food. One was even seen defecating on a dessert, they also sat on the window sills and defecated on the carpet. We reported this to our travel rep who did nothing and we reported in on the RIU app. After 10 days of having to put up with lots of birds on the food we reported it to the hotel again and were allowed to speak to the Hotel Director. 2 days later the bird issue had been resolved. Not sure how it was done so quickly but we were just happy that we could eat any of the food that had been prepared. It was a negative of our holiday but the positive is that the Hotel Director was proactive in resolving this! The pool bar did provide waiter serve to those using the loungers around the pool and it did mean sometimes you had to wait a long time for service if you had just walked up to get your own drink. We found this area could be very smokey so used it to get drinks to take away. There is a bus stop close to the hotel if you want to go into town, though it is easily walkable, talking about 1 hour. Fabulous holiday at Riu Palace Tres Islas wonderful hotel amazing location, staff are so friendly and helpful, great food, drinks and entertainment. Hotel is a little dated but kept immaculate. Would certainly recommend also the spa is definitely worth a visit

Second stay here and wasn't disappointed, cracking location, lovely welcoming staff throughout the hotel and reception helped us enjoy our last day by allowing a late checkout, thank you. From the start an easy quick check in and in our allocated room within 15 minutes. Room 324 was excellent, clean, fresh, excellent view of the sea and pool. House keeping staff excellent, room clean daily and fresh towels every day. Hotel was a mix of mainly 50 + and families, very relaxing atmosphere throughout the hotel. Restaurant and bar staff couldn't do anything more than they do to keep customers happy. Something for all tastes in the restaurant, beverages we wasn't very keen on choice and strength, probably because we were on all inclusive. Cracking pool areas with access to one of the best beaches in Europe I think. There are two hotels only on this beach both RIU Hotels and stayed in both over many years many times. I would recommend this hotel for it's friendly warm welcome, relaxing location, lovely food and rooms. Would I go again! Already booked to return in 7 weeks.

Lovely quiet holiday, would suit couples, or older generation more than children. Loved everything about it. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Would definately recommend

We have returned today from our holiday at Tres Islas all inclusive Fuerteventura, which we have visited many times before covid. We love the hotel, location and the Staff. I can’t tell you of our extreme upset of what we found when we arrived at lunch time. We went into the dining room to find to our horror, seven birds flying around the room. I have a bird phobia, so I was very upset. One of the guest could see my distress and informed me how disgusted she was, and advised us not to eat anything that wasn’t on the show cook station, when we turned round to leave we saw a bird standing on the rice dish, pecking at the rice. We immediately asked to see the manager/director, who was not available until 5:30 We spoke to the Director Fabrizio Congiu, who informed us that he was aware of the bird problem and they were trying to rectify it by feeding the birds on the roof of the hotel, when I asked about the birds sitting on food he said, “when the waiters see it they take it away”. What happens when the waiters don’t see it when the bird lands on the food? It could also be defecating. As the majority of the clientele are 60+ this could be an extremely dangerous health problem. He offered us to use the krystal restaurant and the snack bar which would be free of charge. The krystal restaurant only has a very limited menu which we had exhausted. We couldn’t go in for breakfast as it was too traumatising for myself so we ate in the snack bar or my partner would get a breakfast for me and I would eat on the very far terrace. The standard of the hotel has deteriorated since our last visit, which is very upsetting. The drinks which were always poured in front of us appeared to be for the half boarders and our drinks came out already poured when we inquired we were told it was because we were all inclusive, which suggest to us that we had an inferior quality of drink. I will enclose pictures of our room to confirm our complaints of the standard of our rooms deterioration. We have used the Rui group many times in Cape Verde, Portugal and Fuerteventura, because of the high standards, but we feel extremely let down, frustrated and cross for the amount of money we paid for an inferior holiday. We had an amazing time at Riu Tres Islas, so much so that we returned there 3 weeks later for another week, we will make this our hotel of choice in the Canaries for many years to come.
