I struggle to recognise this as a 5 star establishment. Pleasant enough and in a good location, with friendly staff ready to assist. Sadly the systems and facilities let down the hotel. We stayed 4 nights. The hotel restaurant was fully booked on the first night (we were not warned are advised to book in advance despite contacting the hotel prior to arrival) and it was closed on our second and third nights. We were disinclined to book on our last night. The hotel allows dogs. Fine providing owners do not leave them in the room whilst at breakfast, allowing them to bark constantly and waken neighbours. Breakfast was average and let down by slow replacement of items. The moderately warm but congealed bacon and scrambled egg were not attractive. On the other hand, the kitchen produced two excellent omelettes. Leisure facilities were not used. The steam room and sauna were available but shower facilities were out of action during our stay. Who wants to sit around the leisure area in a sweaty state? The pool was poor and afforded nil privacy. A good, if rather expensive cocktail bar, staffed by a man who knows what he is doing. A good, but again, expensive car parking service. There are no sensible options in this part of town.

I stayed at the Central Park Hotel in June 2021. I was with my husband and 5yo. The hotel manager was extremely helpful and made sure she was available to chat during breakfast etc. Our room was very good. It was cleverly laid out with an alcove section partitioned off from the main bedroom. It allowed our son to get to sleep whilst we were still up. I wish all hotel rooms had this layout! The location of the hotel worked well for us. Being across from the park, we could easily take our son on walks to the city zoo. It took around 10mins to be in the thick of the action at the Old Port. We opted for breakfast and, as a coeliac, I was pleasantly surprised at the gluten free options available. Items were laid out with separate spoons and tongs, and there were separate baskets for bread and cakes. This is the first time I've seen this in France. Finally, my husband and I both had massages at the Spa and had our treatments with Raphael. He was outstanding.

The only thing missing was the silence from the street right in front of the hotel that can be very busy really early in the morning. Regardless of this small inconvenience I would definitely stay there again!

La Marine is in an ideal location at the head of the Vieux Port so all the main attractions are within easy walking range. The more expensive rooms have superb vies over the harbour. Our room was clean and comfortable with a sofa, three chairs and a table. Coffee and tea making facilities were provided. There is no restaurant or breakfast room so breakfast is brought to one’s room on a tray: Coffee/tea, orange juice, yoghurt and a selection of pastries. The main negative of the hotel is that there is no lift. Reception is up two steep flights of stairs from the street and our room 16 (no view but cheaper) was up a further two flights of stairs. Even with just and luggage we struggled and we would have found it impossible with 23kg flight luggage. Overall a great location but also relatively expensive although this was La Rochelle at the height of the tourist season.

We have just stayed here for two nights in a family room for 3. The room was very small, dark, tired and extremely dirty with a thick layer of black dust coating all the skirting boards and worst of the headboard!! We noticed the entrance and stairway were very dusty too, so obviously cleaning is not a priority at this hotel! This was confirmed when we were told that housekeeping would not be cleaning our room during our two night stay due to covid. Having stayed in various hotels in the Uk & Portugal during covid, who still provided housekeeping, we found this very odd. Due to covid I do carry antibacterial hand wipes so I cleaned the thick layer of dust, as we did not want to breath it in, especially as the headboard was totally covered in black dust! It was clear to see that the room has not been cleaned thoroughly for quite sometime, which was not pleasant and very disappointing. I did check to see if we could change hotels but, being peak season there were no vacancies elsewhere. We did mention the black dust upon checking out. The response we received was absolutely shocking! The woman at the desk refused to let me speak, continuously interrupting me! She refused to believe us and kept repeating that the rooms are cleaned regularly! I showed her a photo of the black dirt I had removed with my wipes and she blamed the air conditioning unit, which we didn’t even use! After seeing my photo of the wipes she accused us of being ‘cleaning *******’!! Such a rude and unpleasant, not to mention unprofessional woman!! Zero customer service & care!! During our stay we were unable to use the television in fear of being electrocuted as the plug and wires were precariously hanging off the wall!! We did bring this to her attention but she refused to even listen and swiftly took payment for our stay and ushered us away. Avoid this dark dingy, dirty, hotel!! La Rochelle has many hotels and for €115 per night, you are sure to find much better accommodation elsewhere!!

We arrived in the dark, wind and rain. However, the lady from reception and valet came outside to greet us, which we appreciated. Very good car parking. The hotel is a lovely building on a street with nice shops and cafes. The hotel bar and lounge area is very nicely decorated with comfortable furniture and there was a fire burning, creating a lovely atmosphere. Our bedroom was large, the bed and pillows comfortable and the shower was great. I was very impressed by La Rochelle and would love to visit in summer. Very friendly and helpful staff. We did not eat in the restaurant but it looked good. Thankyou

J'ai une nouvelle fois passé au sein de la résidence centre Pierre et vacances de La Rochelle un séjour formidable. De la réservation du séjour par échange de mail avec les réceptionnistes très professionnelles, Sylvie et Pauline que je remercie encore une fois et que j’ai déjà hâte de retrouver l’an prochain, à l'accueil lors de mon arrivée et la preparation de mon logement par Monsieur Hasni, l’hôte de propreté qui a fait preuve d’une efficacité impressionnante et d’un soucis du détail, pour que je puisse en prendre possession le plus rapidement possible, jusqu'au dernier jour de mon séjour, l'ensemble des employés de cet établissement, et même Monsieur Francois, bravo pour votre réactivité, ont toujours été à mon écoute et ont répondu parfaitement à mes attentes, mes sollicitations et mes remarques. Pour avoir côtoyé il y a bien longtemps d'autres établissements hôteliers de la rochelle avant de poser mes valises au sein de la résidence centre, je peux recommander fortement cet établissement pour un cour séjour ou plusieurs semaines comme ce fut mon cas encore cette année. L’encadrement de réception peut être fier des compétences de leurs équipes et notamment leur professionnalisme. Je fréquente cet établissement maintenant depuis quelques années pour le lieu, l’emplacement, sa localisation dans la ville, c’est vrai, mai aussi pour les qualités humaines, l’empathie, le professionnalisme des employés. Idéalement situé à 5 minutes de la gare et à 3 minutes du vieux port, cet établissement coche toutes les cases : propreté, disponibilité, services et bien d’autres.

Very impressed by this freshly renovated Ibis in a perfect position in the old port of La Rochelle an easy Walk to everywhere. Rooms an adequate size, stylish with good facilities, plenty of plug sockets including shaver point in bathroom. Everything clean and shiny. Good quality soap. Very well managed with General Manager visible, helping with queries at the desk and ensuring all running smoothly. The breakfast quality and choice good, including healthy options and freshly cut fruit, well managed constantly being replenished by conciencious staff. Scrambled eggs light and fluffy. Good quality hot coffee with big cups available which made my day!! Well done to the management. The hotel had a good and relaxed atmosphere even for us the more mature traveller.
