This guesthouse in Lijiang was a hidden gem, offering an incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating stay that completely exceeded all our expectations!
The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming. As soon as we arrived, they helped us with our luggage, brewed local Pu'er tea for us, and shared many insider tips on less crowded routes, helping us avoid the typical tourist traps.
Our room was spotlessly clean, with a subtle, pleasant scent of wood from the furniture. Opening the window, we had a lovely view of the bougainvillea and flagstone path in the courtyard. Waking up to the sound of birdsong in the morning was simply delightful. The bathroom had excellent wet/dry separation and plenty of hot water. After a refreshing shower, curling up by the window with a cup of tea and enjoying the view was the perfect embodiment of the slow living we'd always dreamed of.
The location was also incredibly convenient, just a few minutes' walk from the heart of the ancient town. We felt very safe returning to the guesthouse after enjoying the night scenery. Plus, they offered complimentary laundry service – truly attentive to every detail!
We'll definitely choose this place again on our next trip to Lijiang!

PpostcardsandstampsWe enjoyed our stay here, so when we returned from Shangri-la to Lijiang, we made a repeat booking at this place. The cleanliness of the place and the friendliness of the staff were the main reasons for our return.
Location: This place is situated near the border of the Lijiang Ancient City. It is close to the main road (2 min walk) which makes it easy to meet your driver for airport transfer or any tour you join. It is also extremely convenient to get to the main attractions such as Mu Residence (5 min) and Zhongyi Night Market (6-8 min). You will be away from the hustle and bustle at night, and get some peace and quiet.
Room: We were lucky that we got a room on the ground floor, as we had very heavy luggage. It would be very difficult to pull them up the stairs if we were on the upper floor. Every room has a different name, and shows that the owners put some thought into giving each of their guests a unique experience. The room we got was of moderate size, with a small sofa area for you to enjoy tea and snacks. There was also a kettle and four cups, and a 5-litre water dispenser that dispensed hot and cold water - I appreciated this, which was more environmentally friendly and generous than other accommodation which gave us 2 bottles of water (500ml each) each every day. The room was also equipped with heating, for the room and the floor, and they were controlled by the front desk. There was also a humidifier. The room's interior decoration was warm and cozy.
Outdoor: We also enjoyed sitting outdoors, idling, gazing at the fish, watching the flowers bloom, while enjoying many cups of tea.
Toilet: It was of decent size, with a shower cubicle that dispensed hot water pretty quickly. They provided us with everything so there's nothing you need to bring: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, slippers, slippers for shower, towels for body and hair, one-time face towels, hair dryer, body lotion, soap, detergent.
Service: The staff was hospitable, friendly, and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed chatting with them over many cups of tea, and rose pastries. They even recommended travel routes and restaurants to us, which were very good, and we even got discounts or freebies by telling the restaurants where we were staying. It was easy to communicate with the staff on WeChat, they responded promptly, and arranged free airport transfer for us as we stayed more than three nights.
Food: Breakfast was served every morning, which included a bowl of Yunnan mixian (noodles), a steamed bun, a hard-boiled egg, corn, and some spicy preserved vegetables. Every booking came with one serving of afternoon tea, which included rose pastries and a variety of fruits. We arrived after midnight and the staff prepared some rose pastries and fruit for us, in case we would be hungry, which was very thoughtful of them!

The service was truly thoughtful as well. The staff asked about our itinerary and offered excellent recommendations for local food and attractions. When they found out we were going to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Tiger Leaping Gorge, they went the extra mile and prepared a bag of snacks for us to help prevent altitude sickness. This kind of personal attention is rare and so appreciated.
It's a wonderful place to stay where you will definitely feel the warmth and hospitality. We felt completely at home and would recommend it to anyone!

GGuest UserThis guesthouse we stayed at in Lijiang Old Town truly is a hidden gem! Tucked away in a small alley opposite the Mu's Residence gate, it escapes the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Stepping inside feels like entering another world. The courtyard boasts a high-end and elegant design, and from the second-floor terrace, you can enjoy views of distant rooftops and the Old Town's nightscape. Sitting on a rocking chair at night, listening to the chirping of insects while sipping tea, was simply blissful.
The owner was incredibly thoughtful; he not only arranged for our luggage to be picked up at the Old Town entrance beforehand but also recommended authentic local eateries known only by residents. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the bedding super plush, and even the toiletries were from a niche brand with a subtle tea fragrance. This peaceful oasis amidst the lively area was exactly what I was looking for – just a few minutes' walk from Sifang Street, yet offering a unique sense of serenity. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Lijiang who wants to truly experience the slow-paced life of the Old Town. I will definitely stay here again on my next visit!

From the moment we booked, the inn's owner reached out to us via WeChat. She responded promptly to all our queries, making us feel cared for and welcomed. Communication was smooth and friendly throughout our 3D2N stay. I really need to point out the EXCEPTIONAL service provided by the owner and staff. For those familiar with 丽江古城 (Old Town of Lijiang), you’d know how challenging it can be to navigate its cobblestone streets, especially with heavy luggage. The inn owner kindly helped us carry our bulky luggage from the Didi drop-off point to our rooms, which was a lifesaver. Moreover, she noticed that my grandparents had some difficulty walking and graciously upgraded us to a larger family room on the ground floor to spare them from climbing stairs. Every day, we were treated to dessert soup, fresh fruits, and a hearty breakfast. It felt like being pampered with home-cooked meals that left us feeling nourished and too full to enjoy the other street food sold in the 古城. Situated on 狮子山 (Lion Hill) within 丽江古城, Yinjian Inn boasts one of the best locations in the area. Perched at the highest point, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city, both from the rooms and the nearby Didi drop-off point, which is just a minute's walk away. While the walk down to the busier parts of the 古城 is easy and filled with charming shops and eateries, the climb back up can be a bit of a workout. However, the picturesque views and opportunities to rest and visit the stores along the way more than make up for it. Our room was clean and well-furnished, blending modern comfort with traditional Chinese aesthetics. The room included all the necessary amenities- also don't worry, there is a bidet with all sorts of cool functions. My family and I left with full hearts (and stomachs!) and immense gratitude for the care we received. So YES, please don't hesitate to choose this place :)

GGuest UserWe reach Lijiang old city at 830am after midnight flight from Malaysia. The inn keeper was there to meet us and take our bags.. Being a ancient city, it's all full of stones stairs and winding small lanes. Need to have a good shoes and grip. After settling down, Xiao Fen, the inn manager recommended us some nice food to eat while the room was being prepared for us. At 11am, our room wa ready and we took a nap before heading for more food.
Xiao Fen recommend to us the do and don't, to escape tourist traps. She is so sincere. The room view was excellent, overlooking the old city as its location was slightly uphill area. To get a taxi, it's so easy, just a 5mins walk uphill. This area only Green local taxi are allowed to pick and send customer uphill.
And before I end the review, the breakfast was excellent. The noodles was great and lots of other variety of food, like corn, pumpkin porridge, sweet potatoes, yogurt, steamed bao, milk, soya bean drink..

GGuest UserChoosing Xinsu for our honeymoon was absolutely the right decision! So thrilled with our choice! 🥰🥰🥰 The inn's location is superb! Among all the accommodations we booked for this trip, this inn was by far the most satisfying. Firstly, the location and views were exceptional. Secondly, the service was fantastic, and the breakfast was outstanding. Thirdly, the owner's recommendations, especially for the local 'hidden gem' eateries, were incredibly delicious! Highly recommend! 🤤🤤 I'll definitely be telling all my friends about it! Especially in the evening, as the setting sun painted the snow-capped mountains a fiery golden-red, and the rooftops of the ancient town seemed to glow. We sat there with a complimentary fruit platter, watching the shadows of the snow-capped mountains slowly creep across the ancient town's streets and alleys, until the very last ray of light vanished into the snowy crevices. This kind of unspoken romance was more moving than any love poem.

Llittle-cloudWe stayed at Stone Hotel 石头厝 for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it! I am so glad we discovered it after searching on Trip.com for quite a while. We were looking for a hotel in Lijiang that is quiet and peaceful, with views of Yulong Snow Mountain, and has the modern comforts of a luxurious boutique hotel.
The hotel is located outside of Lijiang town, approximately 30-40min drive, and right next to Yuhu Village. If we needed to go anywhere, the hotel provides a car drop-off service in a luxurious MPV. It’s also easy to call a car on DiDi.
The room is beautifully designed with elements of copper and wood, blending modern and traditional. The bed and pillows are among the most comfortable I’ve slept in during my travels. Being a city girl, I’m delighted with the Dyson hairdryer, Marshall speaker, and Aesop hand soap! The free mini fridge is stocked with beer, Perrier sparkling water, soft drinks, and if not enough, just pop over to the restaurant where the fridge and fruit bar is open and free all day! The amazing variety of fruits are the sweetest I’ve tasted, all grown locally. Even the nuts are sweet, I think they roast them in some sweet milk. The restaurant serves a variety of dishes but we had hotpot every dinner just because the soup is so delicious and the meats so tender. At dinner, the Naxi brothers will drink a toast and sing for every guest as their way of welcoming the guests and treating them as friends. If you dare to, try their local herbal/fruit alcohol (very strong!) We also love that for breakfast, they serve a selection of local side dishes which we enjoyed trying.
Their concierge/front desk team welcomed us warmly even before arriving (via WeChat), and supported us very well throughout our stay. The whole experience of coordinating airport pickup and booking their various activities and amenities (afternoon tea, evening drink, dinner, car) was seamless and fast. Before going out, the front desk staff always makes sure that we are well equipped for the day with water, umbrella, oxygen, chocolates. All the staff are always happy and friendly, making us feel like we are friends because the service is so personalized. We chatted with many of them and had the chance to learn a little about each of them, their lives and their culture. They know that we love playing with their dogs and the little lamb DuoDuo, and gave us many chances to play with them and even feed little DuoDuo. One can feel that they love their work there.
After leaving, we are still missing little DuoDuo, the amazing staff and warm hospitality, and the comfortable room. I’ve traveled to many places, and this is one of the rare times where I miss the place and the people so much. We highly recommend Stone Hotel 石头厝 to anyone visiting Lijiang! And I hope we have to chance to come back and stay with them again.

SSheryl 宜芬Cleanliness: room was slightly dusty. Spiders and insects in the room, but expected because it has many oriental decorations that require constant cleaning to prevent dust accummulation.
Location: convenient, it’s of walking distance to the north gate, easy to stroll around to different parts of the ancient town.
Service: I have never given a bad review for the service attitude of any accomodations which I’ve stayed at in China, but I honestly think that the service here is mediocre and more reactive than proactive. They fulfil the basics of bringing your luggage up to your room, giving directions to the laundry and breakfast areas and arranging for pick up from the station to the hotel for a stay of at least three consecutive nights. I cannot speak for all the service staff, but the service staff that mainly tended to me during the stay definitely needs to be improved. He was helpful when I needed help for the laundry setting. However, when I needed help with booking tickets to snow mountain (I’m a foreigner and do not have a local number), it was a rather frustrating experience. He shared that the booking of tickets to Yulong Snow Mountain can be done 3-4 days in advance, and he could help me when I arrive at the accommodations. When I arrived, it was 4 days in advance but he was rather nonchalent and did not manage to help me secure tickets for my intended date of visit and had to eventually rely on the tour group to help change dates. The night before the tour visit, I had to reach out on wechat to ask about when and where the meeting point is for the tour. Even after the tour, I even had to ask several times to pay for the tour tickets as he had helped me to secure the ticket to the glacier park cablecar eventually. I had already shared that I could not transfer money on wechat and could only do via scanning his wechat/alipay qr code or vice versa. I feel that given that you guys are located in Lijiang and located near to Jade Snow Mountain, you should have encountered other customers who need help with the booking and this shouldn’t have been such a stressful tour booking experience.
Amenities: they have two all-in-1 washing machine and drying amenities which was rather helpful. In the original room which i had booked, the air con leaked at around 10pm+. I texted the service staff on wechat and another staff came 5-10minutes later to check. This staff said it’s normal for the air con to leak at times especially if it’s blocked. After checking, he offered to change rooms for me. He helped me to move my luggage to the new room. There was no form of apology by any of the staff on the day itself when the incident happened. It was only on the next day when I requested for check-out transportation services to the railway station for the following day, where the staff who mainly tended to be apologised for the aircon leakage and offered complimentary transport services to the railway station.
I’ve stayed in many accomodations in Yunnan but this was the most disappointing stay thus far and I will definitely not be back again.

XXiaojiejiedexiaomidiOverall, Banyan Tree is an excellent hotel and highly recommended. Despite its age, the hotel's layout and elegant ambiance are still well-preserved. The staff quality is commendable; general service personnel are polite and greet guests, while dedicated staff are efficient, neat, and professional.
However, given the hotel's age, I noted a few areas for improvement:
1. Indoor furniture requires maintenance; for instance, wardrobe doors should open and close silently.
2. The shower room has an outdoor access door that needs a more secure locking mechanism.
3. There's a ramp at the entrance to the shower area; this should either have a visible warning sign or be proactively mentioned by the butler via WeChat.
4. Some power outlets appear to be retrofitted upgrades; the cut-outs for the flush-mounted boxes are rough, and the panel colors don't match the room's aesthetic, detracting from the overall look.
5. Outdoor equipment installation lacks attention to detail, impacting visual appeal. Examples include exposed pipes, conduits, wires draped under eaves, and oddly placed surveillance cameras.
**Cleanliness:** The room was spotless, a fundamental requirement for any establishment.
**Environment:** The hotel's setting is wonderful, with beautiful, elegant, and stylish garden design.
**Service:** The service was excellent – attentive and thorough, yet never intrusive.
**Facilities:** The facilities are comprehensive, including a dedicated desk, which is very convenient for business travelers or those needing to work on holiday. However, it's evident the hotel is older, showing some signs of age and lacking modern smart features.

Their responses to messages were instant. When we casually mentioned needing a dressing table for makeup, they surprised us with a free room upgrade! On my birthday, they even gifted me a flower. Housekeeping cleaned the room daily. Overall, the experience was truly exceptional. The location is fantastic, being close to all the main attractions, and having plenty of food options right downstairs was incredibly convenient. I also really appreciated the bathroom's dry and wet separation.
