I had booked the Cairn Hotel as i had stayed their previously, however 24hrs before arriving I was told that I would be staying at another hotel over the road as this was where the twin rooms were located! If this had been explained at the time of booking i would not have chosen this hotel and gone elsewhere, however with 24hrs notice I had no choice. The hotel was the Carlton and was little better than a youth hostel. The rooms were desperate for a revamp. The bath had no taps. The towels were dirty, having makeup stains in them! Everything about the room was dated and shabby looking. What was worse was the fact that the flat roof outside of the window had a discarded 'item' lying there which I do not consider appropriate under any circumstances.
Parking was chaotic as I was told to park at the Cairn hotel, and to "block people in", but then there was no parking when I returned on the first night, and ended up parking at the back of the Carlton hotel. I don't expect to have to drive around to park my car when staying at a hotel.
I will never book at this hotel (where I didn't even stay, ironically) again, and please avoid if you want anything other than a double bed! Absolutely shocking.
