Hotel de l'Abbaye de Longpont

This is the kind of place you would like to keep secret because it is so special and so unspoiled. It’s the archetype of a French hotel, old fashioned in a very positive way. The staff is super friendly, the room small but pleasant, the surroundings picture perfect and the food in the restaurant delicious. In summer you eat in the garden, in winter in front of a fireplace.

We stayed for two nights in this beautifully located hotel. We found that both the hotel and the restaurant are very good value for money!! The hotel is located in Longpont next to the ruined abbey. The village is tiny and really pitoresque. We got a very warm welcome. The rooms are rather small and most of them have been very tastefully decorated (the others are in the process of being re-decorated)The restaurant serves real traditional French country cuisine of a very good quality! We thoroughly enjoyed our two dinners there by the fireplace!! Breakfast is served in a beautiful little room and apart from the traditional continental breakfast items, we also had cheese and ham as well as smoked ham, eggs, fromage blanc, pancakes and yoghurts. We visited also the antique shop next to the hotel which had a very good selection of items. We really enjoyed staying there and appreciated the advice of Benoit about places to visit in the area!!(and there are plenty!!) We will be back!!!

Hôtel De L’Abbaye looking great this morning, we stopped by for Coffee and the service was great too. We didn’t have breakfast but it looked amazing from afar. The waiter was friendly and very informative about events in the forest and his to get there.

The hotel has changed hands since we were last there. The new, young owner, Eloi Guillaume, has done much to modernise it, a difficult task in such an ancient buildibg. Our room was comfortable and peaceful. We sat in the garden for dinner. The food was good, the wine list reasonably priced. Breakfast was also good.We enjoyed our stay, not least because of the entusiastic, welcoming owner and his young assistants. We will stay there again.

Wow, talk about sad and neglected 'faded glory'. We did not stay at Hotel De'Abbaye as planned last night as it is nothing like represented by the pictures on the Priceline site. The internet website is helping to promote a facility that simply no longer exists in reality. The place is very clearly uncared for, unmaintained and, in truth, is a complete shambles. The building badly smells of damp, the bedrooms are dark, very small and decidedly grim and the decor/furniture/facilities are so old and tired as to at the point of no return. The restaurant was not open even though this was a Saturday evening and the host (who actually came across as being a rather deluded but pleasant and nice enough man) didn't seem to have any idea about the fact that the hotel he is running has become no more than a dump. There was a French couple who arrived very smartly dressed for a wedding in the village. They both entered the hotel looking happy and presumably had booked in for the evening, but came out wearing face masks and looking very annoyed. They drove away. It is simply not good enough (and very probably deceptive) for this hotel to be representing itself in the way that they are doing so online. The pictures are very deceptive and very obviously from about 2017/2018 when this premises was apparently very well run by the previous managers. We had to unnecessarily fork out for other (very nice) accommodation fairly nearby. I will be suggesting to Priceline (which I am doing separately) that someone urgently pays an unannounced visit so that they can see that this is a distinct misrepresentation of what is now available and see the grim truth with their own eyes.

arrived at 4.30pm hotel looked derelict , so rang phone number advised no answer received text telling us that hotel opens at 6pm. the hotel looks neglected and all photos on booking. com and trip advisor are at lest 4 to 5 years old from when previous people managed a good hotel with excellent restaurant, I had to book fresh hotel in chateau Thierry . don't be fooled by write ups
