I had send a request for upper floor room, specifically for a very needed quiet room for excellent sleeping quality. the rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are very good, good lighting in bathroom and sink is separately from WC. The breakfast is good with excellent coffee, the barman is kind, and professional, although he seemed to be constantly on his own in charge of the entire bar and is rushed of his feet, we waited 45min for a cup of tea in the afternoon, it wasn't his fault, he was just rushed off his feet on his own for the whole cafeteria and outdoor bar. The reception staff is helpful, and we were happy to be able to leave our cases at the reception for storage till departure. good parking at the hotel. Disliked · We did not get our requested upper floor room, although there were a lot of spare rooms free. The second floor is stinking of cigarette smoke ! even our room was still smelling of an ashtray even though it was clean. There is even a sign hanging up on the second floor that smoking is allowed ! crazy, so why did we not get a choice to stay on a NON-SMOKING floor ??The room was fairy hot and while we enjoyed the fresh breeze through the balcony door , the traffic noise was awful! all day + all night sadly . The double bed is very small if your partner is over six foot or more that 1.80m, better off booking 2 single beds . So unfortunately we had an awful night sleep. Our ”double” room was clearly catered for single use, as there was only 1 seat inside and 1 seat outside.. maybe hence the smaller double bed.. only 1 pillow was available in the room, but after finding a friendly cleaning lady, she helped us by giving 2 more. We were booking this hotel for pool relaxation and sunbathing too and were told upon arrival that the POOL IS CLOSED TILL JUNE 2023! This was never mentioned while booking and certainly a surprise while temperatures are over 25C. the main problem for us is the fact that we did not get the room we booked , paid and asked politely for, hence a bad night sleep and sick of cigarette smoke .

Dear travellers (in particular those with canine companions), In my case a large wolf like being that I describe as my second daughter. I have worked at an executive level in customer service in both corporate and hospitality environments my entire life. It is my passion!! And as such, I expect to receive a certain standard in return when I travel to other countries. I rarely have time to leave reviews except under exceptional circumstances and one of those exceptional experiences happened at this Hotel in the last week. Furthermore, I feel that not doing so, would not only do an injustice to the Hotel Alboran and its wonderful staff, but also to anyone thinking of visiting or passing through Algeciras, in case they miss out on the opportunity for a Top Class stay at a Top Class hotel where I found what can only be described as the 'perfect' customer experience. I was finding it difficult to find pet-friendly accommodation as I made my way from Spain to Portugal on the south coast I finally came across this hotel and it's amazing staff who treated me and my best friend to a standard of genuine care I've rarely experienced anywhere else in Europe and probably the world. All the staff were amazing, without exception, however I need to explicitly thank May and Cristobel who went out of their way to make us feel very welcome and no amount of assistance was an inconvenience BUT THEN THERE WAS MARIA, the icing on the cake. Saint Maria , ☺️, combined professionalism, care and genuine empathy, love for animals and work ethic far above and beyond the call of duty, in the perfect blend of hospitality, even spending some of her personal time helping me with a very challenging matter on my upcoming travels. Her attention and dedication was relentless and seemed almost effortless. 5 stars definitely for the Alboran hotel for my stay, 10 stars if I could for the team…. but Maria, take the Milky Way number of stars and add 1. 😀 Owners/ Management of Hotel Alboran, in Maria, you have an absolute gem. She is a keeper!!! What an ambassador for your brand!! To all travelers planning a trip in the region, if you want to relax and be genuinely taken care of by a staff that work together in a wonderful team, in a luxurious and spotlessly clean environment, plan your next stay in this hotel ! Rates are also very competitive for the area. 🤗🤗……. As the Terminator once said... I'll be back!!😎 To all my fellow Irish for a service, better than the homeland, guaranteed, You gotta stop over. From the outside the hotel looks tired and in need of updating but the room that we stayed in was very clean, bright and appeared freshly decorated. The room had the biggest balcony I have ever seen in a hotel it was in fact bigger than the room , it offered such wonderful views across the bay to Gibraltar and was a great place to relax and watch the activity in the port . Hotel has a restaurant which serves a wide choice of breakfasts at very reasonable prices . We found it difficult to actually get to the hotel from the main road as it was not well sign posted and we ended up at the restricted entry to the port and had to make an illegal U turn to get onto the right road . But overall a very good stay in this hotel.

Good basic hotel! Very clean modern rooms and building. We asked for some extras during breakfast and they were provided (COVID so no buffet available). Very happy with the service as well. Is located in a more industrial area, and yet it is quiet. They recommended a restaurant in Palmones (5 minute drive) which was really great as well!

I decided after Stay 1 I wouldn't mind coming back... and in truth I did return later that week. So I was a repeat customer. Positives: -offered 2 PM late checkout as IHG Platinum -rooms are quiet -price was great and I got to earn IHG points Negatives: -no conditioner provided in the shower (if you're only going to provide two bottles in the shower to save on cost, make one conditioner!) -the mattress, a Pikolin, was definitely a budget mattress for a domestic audience. In the US, that mattress would be a problem for the hotel. Very, very hard. -they should install a credit card reader for their vending machine. I know Spain is a little behind on going 100% cashless, but I saw credit card readers on vending machines elsewhere so I think they would see the benefits of doing so. -they should just charge for parking. It's ”free” as it is, but most nights I could not get a spot and had to go into the neighborhood looking for one. -AC turns off after 10 hours regardless of what you do. So if you turn it on at 8 PM for an evening, it will turn off at 6 AM while you are still asleep, waking you up in a sweaty mess.

Please do not come here! I’m here now writing this all I want to do is go home! This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in, and I come on holiday a lot! Firstly we checked in they said live holidays had cancelled my holiday even though I showed them the hotel and flight voucher that I downloaded before we came, they basically threw our passports back at us and said it’s cancelled. We sat in reception for 2 hours trying to sort this out, love holidays knew nothing about any of it rush hadn’t cancelled our holiday at all I had my 9 year old daughter with us we had been up since 3 that morning she was so tired and hungry they didn’t even offer her any water she was so worried, they didn’t even care, they then said they hadn’t got any rooms in the hotel and they had booked us in an awful hotel about 15 minutes away which we had to pay taxis for! It cos us 26 rep there and 22 back. I’m still trying to sort this out with the manager I’ve sent 9 WhatsApp’s and an email to the manager none of which the manager hasn’t got back to me. I asked to see the manager the people at reception just looked at me as if to say they didn’t know what I was talking about. The website is so out dated there is no entertainment at all on any night kids are so bored here, there is. Kids club in the day which seems good at night time forget any entertainment it’s no existent. You are in the middle of no where you can’t hire a car unless your at the airport there is McDonald’s and Burger King down the road that’s about it but you need to get a taxi! They seem to dislike English so much the staff are so rude you get one or two of them the lady with the blonde hair I forgot her name works in the bar and restaurant always says hello and has a smile forgot the other staff you won’t get nothing out of them please do not come to this hotel please you will waste your money food is awful also it’s a disgraceful hotel we have spoken to lots of English families they are going to write reviews also, we aren’t the only ones and we are not fussy people we know nothings perfect by all means but this hotel please don’t waste your money you will recreate it.

Great hotel with friendly efficient staff. Its a modern hotel very close to the feria. The rooms are spotless. Very new linens. I’d stayed there before in 2018 and I asked if they might have a record of the room and they did and gave me the same one. I will definitely stay there again the next time I’m in Algeciras

My favorite hotel of a long trip through Andalucia. Convenient to Tarifa, Vejer, Gibraltar, even Cadiz. Highly functional AC (air conditioning, not the name of the property). Free (although quite confusing) parking. Good bed and shower products. Room also gets very dark. There was some confusion as to whether I could use my $10 F&B Titanium credit for my hotel minibar. The check-in clerk said yes, the check-out clerk said no. This was a problem, as I had already relied on the advice of the check-in clerk. And the policy doesn't make sense — you want your guests blowing their free credit on high margin Pepsis rather than a made to order dinner. Another suggestion, perhaps that of an American — they should have a microwave somewhere in the building you can use. All in all, I will be back, if I have the chance.
