Hotel berhampiran Barcena Mayor, Los Tojos

La estancia ha sido muy agradable. El personal, encantador, con muy buena disposición. El desayuno, sencillo pero completo. El hotel está muy bien ubicado para rutas. El spa estaba abierto, un poquito fría el agua, pero terapéutica tras la caminata por el parque natural. Volveremos seguro.

Las patatas una locura, Rocío… inigualable, un trato espectacular. Fui con amigos cenamos genial. Repetiremos sin duda, la zona una maravilla, buen aparcamiento…. Enfin que decir de la capital de la nieve. Local recién reformado, y los platos buena presentación.

nos hemos alojado unos días en el hotel y hemos estado muy a gusto, el personal muy atento y agradable, el hotel muy cuidado y tranquilo. Contratamos la media pensión y fue todo un acierto, tienen un menú muy completo donde puedes elegir entre unos 5 primeros y unos 5 segundos, todo lo que pedimos estaba muy rico y las raciones más que correctas. Los 2 camareros que nos atendieron en las cenas fueron muy rápidos tanto en servirnos como en cambiarnos los platos nada más acabar cada uno, muy atentos, nos sentimos casi como en casa, especialmente el chico joven, siempre con una sonrisa, en resumen, muy profesionales. Platos que más nos gustaron del menú : gyozas de verduras, tacos de cochinita (son distintos, tienen un toque como a lima pero muy ricos), y las albóndigas de vacuno en salsa de vino (increíble esa salsa). Además, te dan a elegir entre pan de harina o de maíz, este último iba con semillas, muy bueno. Puedes aparcar justo en la puerta o al salir, junto a la carretera, las habitaciones y los baños son amplios, echamos en falta un perchero o algo para poder colgar toallas, también dentro de la ducha algo para poder poner el champú o gel. La única pega que podemos poner fue la cama, que se nos clavaba todo, por lo demás, lo recomiendo 100%, una pena no habernos podido quedar más. Si volvemos a la zona, volveremos a alojarnos allí sin duda.

The setting is in a pretty Spa village. The hotel is quite a big hotel and modern with lots of marble flooring. The Reception staff spoke some English and were friendly and helpful. Our room was a Junior Suite on the third floor. It was spacious with a large bed which was a relief after the cramped uncomfortable cabin we had on our trip over on Brittany Ferries. The decor is on the bland side but the view from the windows more than made up for this. We were the only English staying in the hotel but this was fine as we managed with a very helpful Restaurant Manager to work our way through the menu in Spanish. He also advised us to go in the Restaurant as the buffet room was going to be very busy. The food was good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was good too and had a plentiful selection. On our second night we ate across the road at their large cafe which has a nice outdoor terrace. The attraction for us was that we were able to eat earlier than the 8.30pm dinner service time that operates throughout Northern Spain. No English was spoken but we managed with helpful waiters and Google translate! The hotel is well known for its Thermal Spa Complex. We decided to try it despite no English spoken but again we managed with helpful staff and Google translate and managed to understand what we were supposed to do. This included wearing a swim cap provided by the hotel! It was a great experience and thoroughly therapeutic and relaxing. We had a good overall experience at the hotel and slept well. We would definitely stay here again even if it was only for a night passing through on our way south.

This hotel has so much potential. Great location. Nice ocean views from one side of the hotel- Mountain View’s from the other. It lacks a little love and attention. First off, if you are a spa person this is not the typical spa you might be expecting. The “spa” is basically a glassed off area on the other side of the indoor pool with mediocre sauna, steam and jacuzzi. Oh and you have to pay to use it. Kinda strange. You also need a swim cap. Fitness room, again, lots of potential! Huge room and plenty of equipment. Very dated though. I tried the rowing machine and the straps were broken and the machine was old, hard to use. They also have a sign that says to wipe down equipment. I found 2 spray bottles of something in the corner of the room with a used rag. Not exactly the ideal if they are worried about hygiene. The breakfast- lots of potential but lacking quality. The fruit table is wonderful and so is the coffee! However, there are no nice jams or homemade anything. There were scrambled eggs one morning and sunny side up eggs another but they were doused in oil. Plenty of cold cut meats and sliced cheese. The room- basic. Bed was comfortable. They don’t really use the outside terrace that has a lovely view. They could have breakfast tables set up out there with umbrellas and nice outdoor furniture to sit in and have a cocktail but it’s just empty space with some light square tables and chairs. (Missed opportunity). Could be fabulous if they had a great breakfast, made use of the terrace, updated the gym and did something with the “spa”, or simply don’t call it a spa. Decent 3 star hotel.
