Pretty good overall except for the price (rooms in this city are generally more expensive) and the location. Service was good. My favourite thing was their free pickup and drop off service.

酒店是中國客人到拉邦的不二選擇，酒店是中國人開的老闆姚先生很熱情，入住時正逢生日，酒店還免費提供了精美的蛋糕，酒店位於湄公河旁景氣優美，距離老城區和夜市都很近，酒店不僅提供接站服務還可以幫客人提供包車服務，早餐豐富特別適合中國客人，值得一提的是酒店隔壁有家英國人開的網紅咖啡店特別適合欣賞日落和發呆！總之是一次不錯的選擇👍

I stayed here for one night as part of a larger Lao road trip. Having been constructed in 1937 during the French Colonial period, the building (house number 323), is a UNESCO-protected heritage site. Beautiful local hardwood is used throughout the structure and adds a level of charm that many other accommodations lack. The room was clean, large, well-appointed, and comfortable. The hot water, refrigerator, air-conditioning, and wi-fi worked well. The bedding, linen, pillows, towels, etc. were in good condition. I paid $27 USD per night on hotels.com, apparently, the walk-in rate for this same period is $26 USD per night. This is a fair price for this style of budget accommodation. I would stay here again for sure.

Well maintained guest house in the heritage peninsula area close to temples, night market and all attractions you may want to visit during your stay. Room is simple yet spacious and comfortable with lots of light and a nice veranda. Breakfast in the partner restaurant is a bit poor and could easily be improved. Staff is helpful.

Lovely looking hotel and decor is fresh and clean. It is overlooking the river but also on the roadside so can be a bit noisy. When we arrived the room wasn't ready and then they gave us a room without a river view which I had paid for. When I questioned this, the receptionist said it doesn't show that room on our system. Finally got them to change us to the correct room. Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. They only operate a cook to order breakfast and don't have any menu to look at to order what you want. I was asked what I wanted....the only choice was an ”American breakfast” so first morning I asked for this without any eggs. I got 3 bits of bread and some jam! Second day I again asked for American breakfast without eggs and some toast, I got 3 bits of bread and jam. They gave only the minimum of shower gel both days. What should be a lovely hotel is rather ruined by poor service.

Although the hotel probably offers about the same as most others in the area and is comfortable enough, this review is affected by several negative aspects. First, the room I reserved and paid for was not the same as the one allocated to me. Reserved a premium double Room allocated was a standard twin. Can only assume the proprietor didn't bother to cofirm that the booking detail natched up with the room provuded. I had forgotten what I had actually paid for and only came to realise it was different after I had unpacked. The specified features of the premium room included a 'private spa', balcony and queen sized bed, all absent. Refrigerator did not work. The room I received was priced about $12 per day less than what I paid for. Free breakfast is included and provided by a separate restaurant on the Mekong (nothing special but OK). Another seemingly minor but annoying aspect was the lack of hot water. No kettle provided but there was a water dispenser with hot water option which also did not work. The reserved room with balcony was upstairs, however was shunted very quickly upon check-in into a standard twin room situated 3m from the reception desk. Not the end of the world but in hindsight irritating and just took the edge off my stay in Luang Prabang. Overall not too bad but overpriced, especially considering the items absent or malfunctioned.

We stayed at Hillside for 6 nights and it was an amazing experience. Being out of season, 4 of those nights we were the only people staying which made it feel like our own exclusive and private paradise. Holgar, Aloun and Oscar made our stay so comfortable and relaxing - it was like a home away from home. Many evenings we would sit at the bar with them chatting, learning about their story, the local area and what’s generally happening across the country. It was like being with friends. The food was superb and the choice plentiful. Before we got to Hillside we were in Thailand where our son got very unwell and lost a fair bit of weight. He ate like a horse at Hillside so thankfully, by the end of our stay he had regained full strength. To say the setting is like paradise is not an exaggeration. You’re totally surrounded by nature - it’s 360 degree jungle and mountains. In fact, it’s all so pure that it doesn’t look real. Everything was well maintained and spotlessly clean. We did a few excursions while we were there. We went to Nahm Dong Park which is a 15 minute walk from Hillside. We didn’t have enough Lao Kip with us so Holgar settled our bill from the park and we paid him. Holgar also arranged for us to have a guide take us out for a day to Kuang Si Falls and a few other places. One evening, Oscar (Holgar and Aloun’s 10yr old son) and Buddy (their aging dog) took us for hike up to a viewpoint and then back through a village. All of these are great little touches that really added to our stay. Overall, we can’t fault anything and we are extremely grateful to Holgar, Aloun and Oscar for making us feel so welcome and looking after us impeccably well. We can wholeheartedly recommend staying at Hillside.

Very nice place, big room good bed, Ac and Ventilation in the room. Location is directly near the Mekong. Only one this not so wow the walls are super slim and you can hear the next door customer.
