This is a lovely hotel! It's classy and elegant, and overall it'll make your vacation that much more special. The location is great, as you can walk to restaurants or other places in Luray. The Luray Caverns are a quick drive away, as is a Walmart and Food Lion, and Skyline Drive's Thornton Gap Entrance is close by. I ate at the Circa '31 restaurant for breakfast, which was reasonably priced (the menu is small with a few standard breakfast options). Free coffee and muffins in the lobby at all times. The Speakeasy restaurant is very good, and has various specials/deals each night. The bedrooms are small, but comfortable. The grounds are beautiful, with an area for bonfires and hammocks, as well as a pool and hot tub area. The staff is very kind and accommodating.
A few recommendations for the management:
~Put mini fridges in the rooms
~Put chairs on the balcony so people can use it as a sitting area
~Something to provide more counter space in the bathrooms
I recommend the Mimslyn Inn to anyone staying in the Luray area!

Stayed at Skyland starting May 24 left May 28th. The days leading up to memorial day weekend were nice. The premium rooms in the Craigin building were just fine. Food at the Skyland restaurants is very high priced and they were having staffing issues so full menus not available. Drove to Big Meadows a couple of times to eat, better selections, there. The hiking in the area was good .. did Dark Hollow Falls Trail ( steep return ! ), Stony Man trail and Upper Hawksbill. Also in the area visited Luray Caverns, as well as River Hill Distillery. The town of Luray looked nice but most things closed up at 5pm. The Saturday of Memorial day weekend - every place was terribly over crowded, the trails, the dining facilities , too many people everywhere. If you go.. I would suggest weekdays, or the days leading up to but not including a holiday weekend. In the premium rooms they do provide a small sized refrigerator - I would recommend you bring something light for breakfast and lunch as that will save you a significant amount of money. Overall - we did enjoy our visit , first time staying in a national park... the park itself is beautiful - many views and visits I will remember for a long time. The hiking trails were good... but know when they say easy - that means easy for this park..... so go slow, take your time and soak it all in.
