Hotel di , Madrid

I stayed at Hotel Los Condes in October 2023 for four nights while touring Madrid and Segovia/Avila. The location of the hotel is perfect - one block off the busy Gran Via, on a quiet street. My group of friends was able to walk to the Plaza de Espana, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Prado, Thyssen, Buen Retiro park,Chueca neighborhood, and more. Many of my friends enjoyed the hotel's breakfast; I opted to find breakfast at one of the many nearby cafes. The hotel staff is professional and knowledgeable. The rooms are comfortable and well-planned. The beds were comfortable; everything clean and inviting. I would definitely stay again.

But for the very small rooms, this would be a “5” based on value. Clean, modern, and priced fairly. But for the professional handling of a problem we had with an outside vendor by the attentive front desk staff, it would have been a “3.” We bought tickets through the hotel for City Tours hop-on hop-off bus service and the busses which are advertised every 15 minutes took an hour, and when it finally arrived, it was packed. The hotel kindly intervened on our behalf. (Hotels, not only this one, would be well-advised to remember that they have to live with the recommendations they make to guests.) The breakfast included was much better than most and the bar service in the evenings was friendly, attentive, and fairly priced by Madrid standards. Recommended.

In short, I would recommend looking elsewhere. There’s better options in Madrid with several issues I’ll list below. My biggest complaint is that the hotel advertised themselves as having air conditioning . As I learned from the staff the “thermostat” only controls the air flow (off, low, med, hi) but the dial doesn’t actually change the temperature. The entire floor/hotel has one set temperature. I’ve never personally seen this any other hotel and have only read about it in the most budget options. I had it on high for over 24 hours and the room never felt “cool” enough for me to sleep comfortably either night (I typically sleep at 20-21C for reference). I don’t consider this “AC”. I would more appropriately term it a controllable fan. While the front desk was nice and offered a portable fan, the airflow wasn’t the issue, the coolness of the air was and I felt misled by their advertising. Housekeeping had issues as well with a hair on one of the towels and dirt on one of the pillows. Additionally despite the “no” do not disturb sign out they knocked and then tried to enter during the day. My room key demagnetized every time it was in my bag remotely close to my phone. I didn’t have this issue with any other hotel in Europe, which I feel represents the poor quality of supplies the hotel uses overall for cost cutting. While water pressure was adequate the shower drain wasn’t and the floor filled up with water unless pressure was turned down to half. Overall I feel this is a hotel focusing on making things appear nice and luxurious while the actual quality is sub-par. I would not stay here again and would not recommend.

We stayed at this hotel for our first trip to Madrid, it was the perfect choice. It is located within the main part of Gran Via and is next door to Zara, Mango, H&M and opposite Uniqlo. It’s within walking distance to many restaurants, the metro and the sights. We booked a rooftop view room and it did not disappoint, stunning view and very quiet. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable. The sink and shower are in the bedroom, the toilet is separate. We really valued the free soft drinks in the room every day, great touch. The wardrobe was also a good size. The TV in the room did not have many English channels but it allowed you to mirror your phone content. Really easy to use. The staff were all super friendly and all spoke English. When we checked in we were given free tote bags and vouchers for two free alcoholic drinks at the bar. The bar area is beautiful and doubles up as the breakfast area on a morning. It’s modern and clean and has a balcony if you want to sit outside. The rooftop bar is also gorgeous and has great view. We ate breakfast at the hotel for €14 each. It had lots of choice with everything from cereals, range of breads, cooked breakfast, fresh fruits, meats, cheeses, yoghurts, juices and danish pastries. We walked past many hotels during our trip and it really did feel like this hotel is in THE perfect location. Highly recommended, don’t hesitate to book.

Hotel con una excelente ubicación, en plena Gran Vía. La atención del personal fue muy buena. Tienen una terraza en su novena planta con buenas vistas a la Gran Vía, donde puedes tomarte algo y disfrutar de la tranquilidad (algo difícil en esta ciudad). Nos dieron una habitación reformada y no podemos sacarle ningún inconveniente, era amplia, con un baño enorme y todo muy limpio. Sin duda volveremos.

Pros- good location, clean, easy checkin/checkout, staff helpful at front desk, long breakfast hours, very good water pressure in shower. Had 4 twin beds for a family with teenagers it was good. There was a safe in the room and housekeeping made up the room each day, even if we slept in later. Cons- room had a musty odor, didn’t get AC working until 3rd night, slept with windows open at night and street was very very noisy until 4am, breakfast was rather basic,

I loved the largeness of this room!! After other tight rooms in Europe, this was a breath of fresh air. The beds and pillows were so comfortable that we had to immediately take a nap upon arrival (I'm sure that had nothing to do with our weeklong road trip through Spain). The hotel was very clean and the staff were helpful in arranging airport transfers for us. The street that the hotel was down didn't seem the safest at first, but we were fine! The tiny hands and feet on the walls were an interesting decor choice though.

Location is perfect, the room was well equipped and comfy, thanks for the the welcome coffee and water. Raxchell and Edward were always kind and friendly, whatever we asked for they were happy to answer and garantee. We could check in early and we could leave our luggage till late afternoon after checking out.
