Relais & Chateaux Heritage Hotel

Madrid|0.17km dari Iglesia la Virgen Peregrina
The Heritage is a boutique hotel with 40-something rooms and the emphasis is very much on a personal service. It’s part of the Relais and Chateau group, a chain I’d always avoided in the past as I’d assumed it would be beyond my means. How fortunate I was this time to take a chance. All of the staff are unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful and I can honestly say I’ve never been so well looked after in a hotel before. Alicia and Dana checked me in, seamlessly, and I was offered a glass of Cava whilst this happened. I was then shown to my room - a Junior Suite - on the sixth floor, where the decoration could best be described as opulent. A huge bed, an antique desk and chair, two further chairs, flatscreen tv, Nespresso coffee machine, mini-bar, safe etc. Everything you’d expect in a high end hotel. Enough coat hangers as I was travelling solo but possibly not quite enough if two people had shared the room. But that’s a small gripe. The bathroom included a hydrotherapy bath, which I didn’t use, and the largest rain forest shower I’ve come across. Despite being on a busy road junction there was minimal traffic noise thanks to effective double glazing. Internally, I was disturbed only once by a slamming door. There will always be thoughtless travellers who let that happen but that’s not the fault of the hotel. The bed mattress was a little on the firm side for me. It must be a difficult issue for hotels of any level as it's often just down to personal taste. But this is a good example of the extraordinary service given by the Heritage. I happened to mention the mattress to Julian, the General Manger, who explained that because it was a public holiday in Madrid (the day before Good Friday) it meant he was unable to get hold of a replacement mattress for me. But he did despatch his head of housekeeping to a department store to buy a mattress topper which was then added to my bed. This was a big improvement and definitely above and and beyond what I was expecting. The hotel restaurant must also get a mention. It’s presided over by a two-star Michelin chef (the stars awarded for a restaurant elsewhere) and was a revelation. At dinner the flavours were outstanding. And from the same kitchen came a very good cooked breakfast each morning. It was my first visit to Madrid and I was there for a week over Easter. The city is as beautiful as everyone says and I saw some amazing art and enjoyed spectacular weather. But I also struck lucky in my choice of hotel. Special thanks to manager Leticia for trying to get me in to “the best” flamenco show in town. Alas, it was fully booked on the nights I was free. But then Alicia found somewhere else for me so all’s well that ends well!

Rosewood Villa Magna

Madrid|0.81km dari Iglesia la Virgen Peregrina
My stay at Rosewood Villa Magna was nothing short of immaculate. Never before have I experienced such a well-rounded hotel experience which I will always remember. The room was excellent with an incredible bed and powerful shower, and breakfast was the best I've had at any hotel. However, what truly stood out was the utterly outstanding customer service. From the first night in, my cleaning staff anticipated my needs and met them, even before I knew I had them. I was astounded by the attention to detail - from organizing my luggage to folding my pajamas, to preparing a fresh set of slippers, to setting the place for 3 bottles of mineral water, to unpromptedly providing an antimicrobial cloth for my laptop screen, to putting a fresh bouquet of flowers, to organizing all my toiletries. In my 5 day stay, every night was equally excellent. I especially respect the cleaning staff for putting up with my habit of handwashing clothes. By the second night, I had been traveling for a week prior and needed to wash my clothes. However, since all hotels charge an insane amount for cleaning, I asked the front desk for some detergent and washed all my clothes in the bathtub. In order to dry my clothes, I had to hang them not only throughout the closet, but also atop the doors and handles in the bathroom. My cleaning staff completely respected my choice and even helped put a towel underneath my wet clothes to help them dry quicker. This type of initiative that they took to meet my unanticipated needs was something I have never seen before. It was not only my cleaning staff that were amazing. When I couldn't change the temperature in th eroom, guest services sent a handyman within 5 minutes of calling, who fixed my problem immediately. I didn't have a European number, so when booking a restaurant for a reservation the concierge helped me book within a minute. When we arrived at the restaurant, they were already expecting us. Every single staff member was beyond friendly, and all took the initiative to go above and beyond. Doors were opened with a big smile, I rarely needed to do any heavy lifting, and even my Uber Eats order was delivered to me on a literal silver platter. Even though I have stayed at fancier hotels, some with much more expensive interor decor, no hotel has ever matched the proactive ability of the staff at Rosewood Villa Magna in serving the guest. When I was younger I dreamed of starting a hotel chain, and I hope that if I ever do, I can train my team to be as competent as the team here. I am not in a financial position where I can always stay at hotels like this one, but when I am, I will certainly come back to Rosewood. As someone who is usually ultra-focused on work and responsibilities, I have trouble relaxing. However, I was able to completely destress here, due to the incredible service. Rosewood Villa Magna has been one of the highlights of my visit to Madrid, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Yeah it's basically a student hostel / dorm. But that's ok. I paid for the top level room ”Executive Suite with Terrace” and it was still half the price of the nearby hotels. Cons: - If you're over 30 you will feel like a dinosaur - No alcohol allowed in building - they will yell at you if they see you bringing back a beer to have in your room. - The rooms definitely feel like they were furnished for absolutely zero euros. They still manage to be comfortable, but they're not pretty and everything feels cheap. Pros: - Very casual - Very good value for money - Free small breakfast - Rolling blackout shutters on the room and good sound isolation makes for easy sleeping - Friendly staff - Kitchenette in room (at executive studio level) - Great little roof terrace and, if you upgrade, private terrace on the room. Young solo travelers and couples - especially if you speak Spanish - should definitely check it out.

Really disappointed with the size of my bedroom and bed. I did not think that single beds were still offered at such well known hotels? . Views were horrible (interior staircases of the hotel) but that was expected as i booked the standard double room. Restaurant dinner experience was not acceptable. They did not have many options listed on the menu, they mistaken my order, the quality of the food was terrible. The octopus was hard. The vegetarian burger tasted like meet. Which is not great as if you order a vegetarian burger normally you dislike meat. Waiters were visibly stressed as they were clearly short of staff.

Really enjoyed my stay here. The room was spacious and clean. The theme of the room was also very nice, all the rooms also seemed very artistic. Staff were quite friendly and helpful, able to help me print something small when I asked. Had a supermarket near by so you could easily get basic necessities. Also a lot of great and interesting food around the area. My room was quite quiet too and did not hear any traffic in the middle of the night despite the hotel being next to a road.

Spent two nights at the hotel. It was a short holiday trip which we enjoyed very much and our stay at the NH Madrid Principe de Vergara was an important part of it, as we felt very confortable as a whole. However it is a pity that in general hotels tend lately not to provide a proper restaurant service for guests as honestly found that the bar/cafeteria service, does not really fit with the 4 star cathegory of the hotel, even though service was good.
