The Maldives is somewhere that hadn't been high on our bucket list (I'm not a great sunbather and thought I might get bored), but we decided to include a 5 night stay at the end of a 5 week south east and south asia trip. We chose Le Méridien as I am a lifetime Titanium elite Bonvoy member and we just like the Marriott brand. As we thought this might be our one and only visit to the Maldives we decided we wanted the seaplane experience and also the overwater villa. We booked with a combination of points and cash and went for the sunset overwater. we did look at all the other Marriott options, but thought Le Méridien looked like our sort of place and had the options we wanted. Well the first thing to say is that our expectation of doing this once was completely blown away within 24hours - in fact we wished we had booked for longer. We both love the sea and literally spent 5 days in it - in the most beautiful waters we have ever experienced. The resort offers a variety of watersports, some free and some you need to pay extra for. We spent our time snorkelling around our villa, paddle boarding - first timers, and kayaking around the watersports area. These were all free activities. Next time we will do a guided snorkelling tour of the reef with the hotels dive centre - we just didn't get round to it this time. The resort has 4 full restaurants - Turquoise, Velaa grill, Tabemasu and Riviera and another cafe open during the day but serving food too. As we had booked partly with points our original booking was room only, although as titanium elite we had the option to have breakfast included. Having read lots of other reviews before we went we decided to upgrade to the fully inclusive rate which was easy to do at check in. We did think about this as neither of us would normally eat 3 full meals a day, nor are we heavy drinkers - although we do enjoy nice wine with a meal. We reckoned that even with very little to eat at lunchtime and wine only with our evening meal it would still be more cost effective to go fully inclusive and we were right. We did try all of the restaurants and Riviera and Tabemasu were our stand out favourites, as well as waves cafe. The staff were absolutely amazing - all of them, but Rishab, Neng and Sovia were outstanding - Thank you all so much! The food in these 2 restaurants was (to us) far superior. We also spoke to Asaf one of the resorts head chefs on a couple of occasions and he was so interested to know about our experiences - a really nice personal touch. We ate breakfast every day n the waves cafe - lovely healthy food bowls and great coffee. We ate some fresh fruit there for lunch too. I did note Riviera is labelled as adults only, however there were children eating there during our stay (which didn't detract from our enjoyment, but worth mentioning) Our overwater villa - sunset without pool, was stunning. There are life jackets and flip flops in the room, and the watersports centre lends free snorkelling gear wh
