This was my second trip to Mohana Beach Resort in Mandarmani, the previous time being June 2023, exactly one year ago. This year I found a lot of improvement in the resort. I am listing first the improvements, followed by the pros and cons. Improvements: 1. The service has really improved. Last year I was very disappointed with their service. This time I had absolutely no cause for complaint. 2. Last year in the Queen rooms they had no provision for making tea/coffee. Now they do. They have electric kettles and tea/coffee/sugar/milk sachets in all rooms. 3. As soon as you enter the hotel from the beach, you now have the possibility of taking a shower to wash off all the sand from your clothes. These two showers are new to the complex and are very useful. 4. Breakfast buffet is complimentary. Last year I was told that it starts at 8 am. But by the time the buffet actually got going, it was past 8:45. Very disappointing. This year I was told that breakfast was at 8:30 am and it was punctually served at the promised time. 5. Since I enjoy photography, I like going to the beach by 4:45 am to click the sunrise as also its pre-and post-. Last year it used to take me a long time to locate a guard who would open the gates for me, despite my telling the reception the night before. This year, there was a guard constantly on the move, who opened the gates as soon as he saw me. Pros: 1. Excellent location: on the beach at one end of Mandarmani. 2. What floored me this time was: After darkness fell, I was interested in watching the live French Open Tennis tournament and was disappointed that they didn’t subscribe to those sports channels. They actually noted down the channels I wanted and subscribed to them just so I could watch them. Never before have I come across any hotel that does so. 3. The room is well furnished and has lots of lights. The bathroom is big with the shower and flush working well. They give you complimentary brushing equipment, a comb, shampoo and soap. 4. They have numerous hammocks and very tastefully made chairs and tables made of wooden logs out in the open. And since it is very windy there, it makes for a very pleasant time. Cons: 1. The vegetarian food in their restaurant is priced the same as the non-vegetarian fare. Hence the average cost of a vegetarian dish is Rs 250. Expensive, I thought. So I stuck to non-veg food. 2. No tandoori fare is available during lunch. Those are all in the café post 7 pm. A bit of a dampener, I thought. 3. Place for parking is slightly limited. The main parking area holds 6 cars, the others have to be parked in front of the cottages. 4. The swimming pool does not open before 10 am. And the blaring music would bother folks, especially those staying in the cottages, who love quiet and tranquility. Fortunately, my queen room was far from the pool and didn’t bother me. Overall impression: With its location and excellent staff, I highly recommend this resort. And I really
