Ulasan Hotel VIP Grand Maputo

Got to the front desk and had to wait 23 mins for someone to attend to me. The guy on duty had walked away from the desk and although his manager, ********* was there, he felt too pompous to check me in after he saw my passport is African. Very racist guy

Spent one night at the VIP Grand Hotel. First impressions were very good. Lovely ambience, clean and welcoming. Reception staff professional, on point and helpful. Bedroom comfortable with everything that one usually finds in a more upmarket Hotel. The garden and pool area inviting. The let down was the bar and restaurant. The bar service was lacking and unfortunately couldn't fulfill my request ... I asked for a glass of white wine, which it seems was not available, so requested a cider, which they unfortunately also didn't have. Dining - Dinner was alright, nothing special, but tasty. Very little choice. Unable to enjoy a glass of wine with the meal, as again no wine by the glass, neither white nor red. Breakfast was actually very enjoyable and is to be recommended. Unfortunately no effort was made by any dining staff to clean up after guests left. The tables were simply left, as were the spills and messes on the floor. (Left one wondering what the hygiene in the kitchen area was like.) With an improvement to the bar and restaurant VIP Grand, Maputo could be a top class hotel.

The hotel needs a revamp and sorely needs maintenance and a better level of cleaning. I was locked in the toilet of the foyer as the toilet door handle was off, fortunately I was “rescued” within 5 minutes ….. the solution to the problem I saw the following day was to put toilet paper in the lock. The bathroom in my room has certainly not been given a good clean in months, the mildew on the t grouting and corners was awful. Dinner was cold and substandard, breakfast was overall a 2/5.

A super helpful team, always supportive in overcoming even the smallest obstacles and very proactive. A welcoming, professional service that always makes us feel good. Thank you! See you soon!
