Excellent base for explore the region, Palmela Castle, Setubal city for shopping and supermarket for all your needs, from Setubal you can get the ferry boat to Troia Peninsula complex and beach, a visit to Lisbon is a most, you can get a train from Lisbon to Sintra or Estoril, a visit to Belem to the famous ”Pastel de Nata” (custard tart) Overall a good place to spend a quit holiday, I recommend the Palmela Apartments. We drove from Newcastle to Plymouth and then Brittany Ferries to Santander(Spain) and from Santander to the Palmela Apartments is a 7 hour drive. I do recommend these apartments.
