Maqueda Lodge

I can highly recommend this lodge and its staff. They are very service minded and possess great knowledge of the wild. Their guided jeep tours in the park run smoothly and take you to where there is the best chance of seeing the big wild animals

The team at the lodge was extremely professional and supportive. I wish I could have stayed longer! The surroundings are spectacular, the food very tasty and exquisit. Is there anything else I would have wished for: NO!

It is hard to know where to start when describing the exceptional experience we had staying at the Maqueda Lodge. The welcoming atmosphere from the moment we arrived was genuine and exhibited throughout our entire stay. The tranquility and beauty of the lodge contributed to a wonderful stay. The meals were plentiful and delicious. Food was traditional to the region. Of course our reason for booking this lodge was to visit Kruger National Park. We were not disappointed. The animals and vistas truly something to see. The Lodge arranged a late afternoon evening game drive on the day of our arrival. It was a good introduction. This was followed by a delicious multiple course dinner upon our return. The attention to detail was meaningful to us as guests. For example, we are not tea or coffee drinkers and the next thing we knew hot chocolate was available at every meal. The next two days, we were up early for full day game drives with a very knowledgeable guide. The days were marvelous. We learned so much from the guide and saw so many different animals. Again meals were scrumptious. The lodge was so inviting. The room was large and furniture and design fit the setting. The large common spaces for eating and sitting real made you feel welcome and the decor was inviting. One of the dinners was a barbecue, outside in a beautiful spot with a fire in a fire pit on the lodge grounds. The location is just a short drive to Kruger. There is also wild life here in Marloth Park where the lodge is located. A few things to know - Load shedding of electricity was a daily occurrence. The Lodge has a generator. As others stated - soap and shampoo was not provided. There was a hair dryer in the room. If you are looking for a place to stay with wonderful people, superb ambience, and delicious food this is the place to be. They arranged all the drives and took care of everything once we were at the lodge. Yoga was offered. We flew into Johannesburg and hired a guide to drive us 5 hours to the Lodge. The return drive was about 6 hours. Be sure and stop at the Azul Rest Stop for a bit of food and to see the Rhinos, etc.

Wonderful experience of the African bush, warm and welcoming luxury. James and his team were excellent company, very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble, we felt very much at home. Early morning games drives and bush walks were memorable. Looking forward to a return trip.

The four of us, my husband and parents, were so lucky - we were the only guests at Maqueda Lodge for three days. So we got to enjoy all the attention of Michael and James and their fantastic cooking. The whole lodge is beautifully designed, especially the covered sitting and dining area, but the big difference from other beautiful accommodation was the people. On top, James and Michael provided us with all kinds of information, e.g. about the little five of Africa, and fetched a rhinoceros beetle from the garden as concrete visual material. From pick and drop off our 4 nights at Maqueda Lodge was the highlight of our trip. Super friendly staff, location excellent, meals outstanding and accommodation lovely surroundings with wild life just out your window nature at its best. Got to see the big 5 on safari with ranger James at Kruger. Thank you to all at the lodge for making us part of your family all the best Garry and Cathy from down under

Great location, cozy bedrooms. Food was good (including vegetarian). The safaris were incredible (James is a great guide!!). We also did an extra bushwalk which is A experience. Overall I'll definitely stay there again!

Most awesome lodge setting, close to Kruger, authentic bush experience, luxurious and comfort, top service. Food was exceptional. Lounge area exquisite. Great venue for anyone which to Mountain bike in mare loth park, run the trails along the riverside and look out view, amazing walks.

Super schön gelegene Lodge mit tollem Flair .Mitten in der Natur gelegen .Sehr grosszügige und schöne Zimmer.2 kleine und ein grösserer Pool.Sehr schön dekoriert und sehr leckeres Abendessen2tes Abendessen war ein Braii beim Lagerfeuer .Tolle Location beim Frühstück.Super schön eingedeckt ,Eier à la carte,sehr freundliches Personal.Ein Spaziergang mit James hat uns die Tiere sehr nah gebracht.Wir waren mit unserer Gruppe von Chamäleon 2 Tage dort untergebracht und es war ein Traum. Absolut weiterzuempfehlen.
