Hotel berhampiran Mamo Tower, Marsaskala

Un peu déçu par la chambre que nous avions réservée. Nous pensions avoir une chambre avec vue (partielle) sur mer ou au moins en étage tel que décrit sur Booking, malheureusement nous n'avons pas contrôlé le détail de la confirmation et nous avons eu une chambre (n°12) très sombre avec une porte fenêtre donnant sur une courette entièrement murée à 4m de hauteur (laissant apparaître toutes les tuyauteries d'évacuation avec le bruit qui va avec), ce qui implique d'avoir les lumières allumées en permanence, un vrai bunker. La salle de bains avec wc est ridiculement petite, et impossible de s'y tenir à deux. L'ensemble est malgré tout très propre, le petit déjeuner correct sans plus mais à minima en produits salés ou le choix est très restreint, celui est servi sur le toit terrasse avec une belle vue sur le port. Attention si vous arrivez un peu tard, il n'y aura que des restes, surtout si quelques clients ou jeunes clientes ”mal élevés” ont pris du stock pour le picnic du midi...(vu). L'emplacement est assez calme malgré le nombre invraisemblable de chantiers en cours sur Marsaxlokk et globalement sur toute l'île, mais il y a toujours des clients indélicats et bruyants qui se croient tout permis et vous gâchent la nuit. En résumé, ce Guest Housse est malheureusement assez impersonnel, sans âme et le client semble être transparent. Dommage, nous avions espéré mieux.

The location is convenient with restaurants and plenty of buses nearby but it's also a quite poor and ugly neigbourhood. It seems to be in the process of being gentrified with lot's of construction in the quarter but there are also many abandoned and broken buildings around. Generally it feels a bit sketchy. The Hotel itself is a new construction, designed well and very clean. My biggest complaint however is the service and staff. Unfortunately I was given one of the worst rooms, where the balcony was facing a wall, so there was almost no daylight in the room. When enquiring if a room change is possible, the receptionist blantly lied to my face and said they were fully booked. When I checked online for the same dates and room category, there was still plenty available, even in higher categories. So instead of trying to upsell me or finding another solution to satisfy me as a customer, they treated me like cattle.

I stayed for several days at both the Victoria Hotel and also visit the connected by the rooftop their sister hotel, The Palace. You have to start with the fact that these are not 4* and 5* hotels. Perhaps they were when they opened 20 years ago, today it is a maximum of 3* and 3.5*. They are simply dated, you can see it and smell it. If we are aware of it, almost everything else is ok: very friendly service (special thanks to the nice, elderly man at the reception), tasty and varied breakfasts, cozy swimming pools and rooftop bar. The quality of cleaning the rooms needs improvement, the location of the rooms is cruicial (avoid rooms from the driveway for deliveries, unless you like to hear knocks and screams from 6am onwards). And the price: if you manage to find an offer up to 100e / day, that's ok, above that is not worth it.

Starting with the information - we stayed at So City as a young couple (who arent particularly into nightclubs/bars) to see Matla for the first time over a week. I have given this a 'benefit-of-the-doubt' rating due to the hotel being incredibly new. We picked So City Hotel because of the value, it was incredibly well priced. I'd imagine this is a strategy due to it being so new but it was certainly well worth the price we paid. On to the hotel as a whole - I feel this is definitely aimed toward capturing people coming to Malta for some night life. Its positioned so that no more than 10 seconds from leaving the lobby, you can be in a bar, and their are some nice bars surrounding. That said, we werent there for that - but this location also meant that finding an evening meal, or a quick early night drink was incredibly easy. Exploring the island was also very easy from here, Valletta was a very short journey, and as we had opted to rent a car, there was a carpark about 5 minutes walk away (Pengardens) which is reasonably priced for over night parking, and we never struggled for a space. The room was very comfortable, and the mattress was perfect and bedding very soft and comfortable. Our upgraded room was also incredibly spacious. The theming is a nice touch and makes the room a bit more characterful and individual. Staying on the 7th floor, there was minimal noise at night, altough id be concerned if we needed to keep the window open.... The black out curtains were also amazing for keep the room dark for a little bit of extra sleep. Constructive criticism for the room would be: The shower tempurture is difficult - the hottest setting is insanely hot (my other half loves hot showers but this was too much for her also) and it wouldnt go cold, just cooler, it also seemed to get colder through out the shower and you found yourself adjusting. There is not a lot of storage at all for longer stays. This is perhaps a by product of it feeling aimed towards 'nightlifers' who might stop 3 nights or so. I would perhaps ask reception for additional hangers if you have plenty of clothes for a longer stay. The mini fridge, altough useful, is not big enough to put larger water bottles in, which can be annoying. The aircon unit is situated in a place which means it blows directly at the bed. I tried to play with the control but there was no way to adjust it that I could find. Im trying to cool the room, not refridgerate myself. The timer on the aircon also didnt seem to work, so setting it the blow for 30 mins whilst i went to sleep just didnt seem to work. The TV is not a full smartTV which is a shame. Just channels and an internet browser, which are never nice to navigate around.... On to other notes: Breakfast is just what you need. Its not an all out buffett where there is everything you could dream of, but there is more than enough and a few items cycle so you can expect a slightly different breakfast each morning. A very enjoyable 3 nights stay, where we assisted for the village feast of St.Philip, at this boutique DeRohan BB. The cleanliness was astonishing and the service was great creating a very family atmosphere, which was a main factor of our enjoyable stay. Apart from this the location is very central , thus making it very easy to reach all other amenities.

Hôtel 4* juste parfait très propre les couloirs et la chambre sentent super bon le personnel est très chaleureux très acceuillant vraiment parfait! Le seul petit bémol c’est que c’est un peut isolé mai c pas un inconvénient sachant qu’il y a un arrêt de bus à côté . De plus il y’a une grande piscine extérieur avec des palmiers des transats et c’est tout vue sur la mère très Instagramable.

My wife and I have just returned from spending 2 weeks at this hotel . I'm trying to find words that describe what is good about it. I've just realised which words i'm looking for......ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING. We have travelled to numerous countries over the past 40-50 years and stayed in many many hotels but our experience at this hotel surpasses them all. The staff at reception, Marine, Maja and their colleagues were always most helpful when asked for information or sorting a small problem. The staff in the dining room, Subina and Nikesh in particular were most friendly and helpful and together with their colleagues helped make dining there a complete pleasure. The food choice was amazing, both the buffet breakfast and the a la carte evening meal. The room (and particular the bed) was massive with all the amenities you needed. We would definitly recommend this hotel to anybody who wanted a stressless stay in Malta.

Hotel très propre, piscine extérieure très chaude. Buffet du soir très repetitif et pas terrible. C'est mieux de manger à la carte ou à l'extérieur. L'hapy hours n'est pas valable au buffet. Incroyable quand même. Sinon excellent rapport qualité prix et boissons peu chères.
