We were in this hotel at the beginning of June 24. Everything was absolutely perfect ! First of all, the kindness and commitment of Betty and Ivana on phone who gave us all the necessary informations to facilitate our arrival in Matéra and the journey to the hotel ! Then the warm welcome from Ivana upon our arrival ! The Help from Samir, so kind and available, with our luggage ! And which gives us information about the city. The hotel, ideally located in a quiet area, with a magnificent view on the Paleolithic caves, and which is entirely built in the rocks !! And the rooms, under the vaults, so chic, of exquisite taste, comfortable, where you immediately feels so good ! Finally, the breakfast, copious and varied, which offers fresh and delicious products ! It was an exceptional stay in an exceptional establishment ! We loved it and can’t wait… to come back soon !!

Non ho pernottato nella struttura ma solo cenato. Tuttavia, la signora che gestisce ha avuto la cortesia di farmi vedere le stanze, che sono poche ma affascinanti e dotate di ogni confort, considerando che sono di varia forma e consistenza perché ricavate negli spazi di un antico palazzo nobiliare. Potrei definire la ricezione degli ospiti senza dubbio signorile. Altrettanto signorile è stato il responsabile della concierge e molto professionale il servizio dei camerieri. Cibo buono, un po' ricercato, che tenta di coniugare la tradizione materana con la haute cuisine. Insomma, una piacevole sorpresa questo posto suggestivo nel cuore dei sassi di Matera.

An outstanding experience from start to finish! The room was not only spacious and spotless but also designed with comfort in mind, making it the perfect place to unwind. The facilities were modern, high-quality, and well-maintained, exceeding all expectations. The staff was exceptionally welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive to our needs, always going the extra mile to ensure a memorable stay. WOW! We were blown away by this place! One of the best stays we have ever had. Perfect! If you are looking to visit Italy, I implore you to visit Puglia and Basilicata! If you are looking to come to Puglia and Basilicata, I implore you to visit Matera! If you are looking to visit Matera, I implore you to stay at Locanda di San Martino! Right in the heart of the Sassi old town in Matera, the former church of San Martino. An amazing setting in a beautiful historic building set into the rocks. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use the Roman thermal baths, which means we will need to come back! We stayed in room 8, La Chiesa. A wonderful room, the back of which is cut into the rock, the rest finished in what looks like the same stone. Very classy and stylish room with whirlpool bath (unfortunately the jets weren't working for us) right in the room, with shower and toilet built in to the back. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast room was fabulous! Looks like it might have been the refectory, again built in to the rocks and finished with the same stone. Breakfast was continental and extensive. Delicious! Our stay was very reasonably priced too 🤗 A great location to explore Matera, but be prepared to walk up and down steep stairways. We only had one night here but will come back for more. Fabulous, thank you! 👍👍👍👍

Hotel is so pretty and the view is stunning when you open the door. Matera is one of my favourite cities in Italy. Worth to stay at this hotel when visiting Matera and then you must be impressed by the city atmosphere. Next time I will stay at least for 2 nights to explore the city. What’s more, hotel staff introduced us one nearby restaurant which was so yummy. Thanks so much for her recommendation.

We had a wonderful time at La Suite. It was a last minute switch from a luxury hotel too far out of town. We were so lucky to have found la Suite. It was a great location just off the pedestrian area, easy to walk anywhere, the Sassi entry points and the many good restaurants in Matera. Particularly handy in the recurrent rain we faced. The staff were very friendly and helpful in suggesting restaurants etc. Its a great base in Matera. Only hiccup was a bit slow breakfast on the last day when they didn't have many guests and everyhing had to be pre-ordered and a slight miscommunication on the laundry - it showed up finally. All in all a lovely place.

Upon a very early arrival we were welcomed by the lovely David who offered us a coffee while we waited for our room to be ready and took us out to see the spectacular views over the Sassi. We were blown away by the view on the terrace it is just gorgeous. Our cave room was lovely, clean very well equipped with a cute little courtyard. We had drinks on the terrace at sunset both nights, which was just amazing watching all the lights come on across the Sassi. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was very good with lots of lovely options. The staff were outstanding and very helpful with recommendations for restaurants, tours etc. Best place in Matera

I stayed at Hotel Nazionale-Matera while visiting family for 9 nights with my son. My wife recommended this hotel based on her stay a few weeks earlier when she visited Matera with friends. She knows how fussy I can be, so she knows if I didn't like it, she would be hearing about it for quite awhile. The hotel is in a great location, modern, and safe. The room was sleek, clean, and housekeeping came every day. The beds were comfortable and extra blankets and pillows were available. The breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety of options-eggs, sausages, rolls, toast, pastries (lots of delicious pastries), fruit, juice, coffee, etc. I looked forward to going there each morning. The hotel staff was professional, friendly and very accommodating. We had to leave very early on our last day to catch an early flight and they arranged for a bagged breakfast for us. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar and sitting on the patio was an extra plus. After 9 nights you'd think I would have at least one negative take away, but I don't.

We arrived by car at this new, modern hotel. We could easily park the car in one of the free parking spaces in the fenced area in front of the impressive building. At the reception we were welcomed by a lady who was top friendly and super professional at the same time. When we checked in, we immediately felt warmly welcome. We were given valuable tips for our stay in the city, and we were also helped to book a table for dinner when seats in the restaurants were scarce because of the weekend. The spacious rooms have a creative design. At the same time, they are very homely. Everything is absolutely clean. The beds are comfortable with pleasant pillows. Air conditioning and rain shower are of course also part of the great equipment. At breakfast, we were equally welcomed by brilliant staff who complemented the rich, high-quality buffet with perfect service. We will be back!

Un hotel con lobby y áreas comunes muy muy bonitas; las habitaciones cómodas, limpias, llamando la atención algunos detalles (como que no funciona el aire acondicionado, un poco ruidoso). En recepción muy amables y atentos a nuestras dudas. Por el tiempo no pudimos usar la alberca ya que el horario de uso es limitado (10 a 19 hrs), se tocaba cálida el agua. Matera queda a 15 minutos en carro, el hotel tiene área de estacionamiento.

If you like unique and an unforgettable experience, this is the place for you. I truly felt like I was in a movie. This isn't a ”bells and whistles” place; this is stepping back in time and experiencing life sleeping in a very beautiful, immaculate and stylish cave. Basiliani is a cave hotel with all the amenities of modern day, yet entrenched in the history of a world where people actually lived in caves until the mid 1950s. What a true archeological treasure. Matera is beyond belief in its beauty and history. I was awe struck by its views, especially when lit up at night, and this hotel fit beautifully into the scenery. The beds were extremely comfortable, shower had great water pressure which I couldn't quite even understand how possible amongst the rocky landscape, and the air conditioner kept everything super comfortable. The included breakfast was delicious and had something for everyone, including vegetarians. Most of all, I have to say how lucky Basiliani Hotel is to have Roberto working with them. He is a true treasure, and one of the most kindest and caring people I have come across in a long time. Nothing was beyond him, and he genuinely wanted us to have the most enjoyable stay. I would go back in a heartbeat. What a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommend.

The stay was fantastic, the location is excellent. The hospitality was amazing and the rooms was very clean and the team was available all day long if you need something. Also they can help you with tours, restaurants and everything that you can imagine. I strongly recommend you to visit it if you are wondering for staying there.

Nel cuore dei Sassi di Matera. Struttura bellissima e staff cordiale e disponibile. Lo consigliamo per ogni occasione. Ideale per passarci una vacanza in famiglia, in coppia. La suite quadrupla è davvero il Top. Una stanza ampia con tutti i comfort. Ci siamo stati solo un giorno in una occasione speciale. Bellissima davvero

This is a very beautiful small hotel right next to the Duomo. The location is perfect for exploring amazing Matera. The reception staff is exceptional. The room was great with lights along the very tall ceiling. The breakfast room very nice with a large selection of items. We parked our car at their other property outside the old town and they picked us up with the hotel shuttle. It was easy and convenient. The hotel staff made many suggestions for sightseeing and dinner and arranged for a James Bond tour for us. The only downside was that the room was cold and the heating system was not able to warm it up. They told us the the ceiling being so hight the heat get to the ceiling and the room stays cold. The first night I froze all night but the second night I asked for a duvet and a space heater and it solved the problem. We didn't use the spa or the on-siite restaurant because we were too tired but it looked great. We would definitely return to this hotel if back in Matera.

Great location in the heart of the Sassi, high quality room furnishings and very helpful suggestions from reception staff on a suggested walking tour and a nearby restaurant which they booked for us and was superb. We went with their suggestion of parking at the €10 per day place in Via Pasquale Vena which was a fairly easy 10 minute walk away, but to aid our journey we took only light baggage in with us for a 1 night stay, coping with a heavy case with all the steps up and down would be troublesome for many i think. Worth seeing Matera at different times of the day as the views change dramatically with different light & angles etc

Ho recentemente soggiornato presso l'affittacamere Myricae a Matera e l'esperienza è stata davvero piacevole. La struttura era estremamente pulita e ben curata, offrendo un'atmosfera accogliente e rilassante. All'esterno della nostra camera, abbiamo trovato una lavagnetta con il nostro nome, un piccolo gesto che ci ha fatto sentire subito i benvenuti. La posizione è ideale: si trova a soli 10 minuti a piedi dalla zona dei Sassi, permettendo di esplorare comodamente il centro storico senza essere nel pieno della confusione turistica. Inoltre, è possibile parcheggiare proprio fuori dalla struttura, il che è stato molto comodo. In sintesi, il Myricae è un affittacamere grazioso e ben gestito, perfetto per chi desidera visitare Matera in tutta tranquillità. Lo consiglio vivamente!

Can't recommend this place more highly. If you're staying in one of the Sassi, a cave hotel is a must have experience in my mind. All the amenities were on offer for a very comfortable stay, including a robust AC and a beautiful bathroom. The staff was fantastic. We're going to miss the bread of Matera and the delicious breakfasts each morning! Thanks for an unforgettable experience.

Mais une fois entrés, nous avons apprécié l’endroit La piscine Le cadre La chambre spacieuse, insonorisée et avec climatisation. La notre n’était pas souterraine mais dans un petit bungalow séparé Petit déjeuner servi en terrasse assez basique mais avec du chois

PPengguna TetamuWorst experience in staying in independent accommodation. Left in the rain for 1 hour. Tried 18 calls not answered A very unpleasant man turned up and yelled at us in Italian. We felt very intimidated. When we went out we believe someone entered the room and turned off all lights and heating.
Nice room but it’s in an apartment not a hotel like pictures make you believe. Next morning 1/2 hour before check out we returned back and the angry man was waiting for us. Yelling about lights left on. This was a small bathroom light we’d missed when we went for a walk. He virtually threw us out of the hotel. Standing in front of the bedroom window making us very uncomfortable. Very very unpleasant stay.
