Hotel berhampiran Kappa Bridge, Matsumoto

Stayed in the dorm for two nights. I was lucky it was not crowded. I am a foreigner and had two biggish pieces of luggage which took up a good chunk of the floor by my bed. There were two other women in the room and I don't know where they stored their luggage or if they had any. The first night was amazing. The room was cold which allowed me to sleep well. The 2nd night was not so great. One of the ladies turned up the heat so I did not sleep so well. The onsen was wonderful! It was my first experience in a public bath before hot tubbing. To be honest, the water was too hot. I only stayed in 5 minutes each night, but that was enough. The dinner and breakfast are excellent as long as you are not vegan or vegetarian. Otherwise, you are in trouble. I would stay here again, absolutely.

I give this hotel an ”Excellent” simply because we loved it. If you are in Kamikochi and you stay here I hope you love it too. I recommend that you get off the bus at the Imperial Hotel and walk to the hotel from there. It is much closer than the main bus station. The hotel is right in front of the river and is surrounded by nature. It is not a high traffic tourist spot. Amazing place. The day we arrive it was raining and cold. The hotel offer ponchos, umbrellas, etc...hot drinks and snacks in the lounge almost all day. We arrive at about 10:00 to drop our bags and did a pre check-in (check in time was 14:00), but we came back at 13:00 since it was cold and raining and my wife and 8 year old did not want to walk anymore. However our room was ready so we settled in and loved it. The room was a corner so it was bright, and we had a view of the river and a tree with birds in it. Great. The onsen opened at 15:00 and felt great. It has an inside and outside bath. Not big but just felt perfect. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Dinner and breakfast buffet were just great. My daughter has allergies and her food was perfect. The service was always friendly and excellent. Night time stars were amazing. Kamikochi is beautiful. Great hotel in Kamikochi.

Beautiful views and wonderful walks. The hotel staff are friendly and mainly helpful. However, the hotel is in absolute need of a complete makeover. Looks almost derelict on the outside. Not quite so bad inside. Our room smelt of dead rats. The manager said it was the new mats! We asked to change rooms but were told the only option was a room with no views and no bathroom! Interesting as the hotel had many vacancies. The food. 6/10 for what it looks like. 1/10 for experience. Cold / tasteless / stale. We didn’t let the dire hotel spoil our enjoyment of the truly stunning environment - but choose your hotel carefully.

地點絕佳，就在公車站對面。寄放行李後輕鬆踏上往上高地的道路，一路上美景相伴，甚是愜意！ 因飯店後面就是大正池，早晨欣賞大正池晨霧超級方便，晚上則有滿天星斗！ 員工親切，餐點還不錯！床鋪稍舊，也可惜沒能住到池景房！浴場水溫不夠高，棉花棒、保養品⋯⋯若能提供就更棒了！

No shower available inside the room, we need to use the hot spring. However, the water was not hot enough! I found two Japanese ladies use both indoor and outdoor hot spring just for few minutes and then left with disappointment. The food qualities of both dinner and breakfast were not up to the standards of “Onsen” hotels in Japan at this price level I had gone before. Unfortunately this hotel is the only one available for booking on Trip.com near the area of Kamicochi. Will not recommend to anyone.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in June 2023 (originally planned for 4 but Typhoon Mawar impeded our plans). We stayed in the Kaizanso wing, with a traditional tatami room and semi-open air bath and balcony. We loved our room and the view of the trees and mountains. The bath looking over the landscape was incredibly relaxing (and you can adjust the temperature, which is nice). The only drawback to staying in this room is that it takes 3 elevators and an 8-minute walk to get there from the entrance to the ryokan. If you forgot something in your room, you are going to get your steps in that day! The decor of the room is traditional, so if you are a foreigner, be ready. There are no chairs except on the outside deck, for example. The bed futons are laid out while you are at dinner, and I found that one futon was not enough, but with two futons on the tatami floor, it was just right. The bedding was super soft and comfortable, and I loved the traditional yakuta pijamas. The staff was super helpful with making the ryokan reservations and dealing with the typhoon disruption. Miura was very gracious and understanding. The hotel also has a gift shop with lots of interesting food gifts. We tried the private bath, but it was 41 C and too hot for us. The ryokan-only open-air baths are low temperature at around 37 C are much more tolerable. Sitting in the milky white waters surrounded by trees and beautiful rock decor is really magical (but they do smell like sulphur). There was generally no one in the open-air bath in the afternoon (it seems it's more customary to go early in the morning). You can't wear any clothes or bathing suits, and no tattoos, so just be aware of this. There is also a separate larger bath open to the public, but we didn't get to try that one. We had breakfast and dinner all 3 days at the hotel, in a private tatami room in the restaurant. The traditional Japanese breakfast was great, and the dinner varied, which was nice. There was sukiyaki and other hotpots and steam pots, as well as sashimi, rice, miso or dashi soup, and dessert. There is a modest corkage fee if you want to bring your own beverages, which we appreciated. Our server was great. The view from our room -- and along all the roads to the ryokan -- was very nice, but I was a bit disappointed that there were no hiking trails within walking distance of the ryokan or the charming Shirahone Onsen village, since the scenery is so spectacular. There is an old hiking trail down to some waterfalls that is past the bus stop, but it seemed like a lot of the wooden trail was broken and it was closed. It would be nice if you didn't have to drive a ways to get to a way to be in the woods. Also note that there is no ATM in Shirahone Onsen or really nearby, so bring plenty of cash with you from wherever you are coming from. There is also no ATM in Kamikochi, but the taxis and most of the stores and restaurants don't take credit cards (they take local mobile payments li

The staff was kind and helpful. The location of the Ryokan is magnificent , up in the mountain . We really loved it. The onsen was fantastic. Everything was neat. The dinner was amazing too.

My family of four stayed in a corner suite comprising of a large living room and a smaller bedroom. We also requestedfor a dpuble futon mattress and a humidifier which the hotrl provided. The onsrn, both indoor and outdoor was amazing. So sothing to just immerse in the theraupetic waters after each day of long trekking. The food was also outstanding. We stayed for 3 days and every dinner each day was different and specially customised to our dietary preferences. We slept soundly each night. The chillt mountain air kept us all tucked in bed for long hours. Shirafune Grand is prob the largest and most modrtn ryokan complex in shirahone onsen. Am glad we did pur extensive research and opted to stay with them.

3歳の子供を連れて家族で宿泊でした。宿泊までは子連れには敷居が高いかな？子供がいても迷惑にならないかな？と心配でしたが子供がもウェルカムで大変ありがたかったです。 部屋は、広く冷蔵庫の中の飲み物（ビール、お茶、ジュース）が無料でした。 お部屋も寒くなく快適なく温度でした。湯船に浸かると体の芯から温まるので、特に寒いと感じる事はありませんでした。 食事は、山菜と田舎料理とあるので、口に合うか心配でしたが、どれも絶品でした。普段は苦手な人山菜も美味しく調理されておりとても美味しかったです。お酒（利酒）にその日摘んだお花が添えられてるちょっとした心配りも嬉しかったです。子供は朝夕と白米と味噌汁をサービして下さり大変助かりました。 朝食の温泉粥絶品です。 お風呂は、言わずもがな最高でした。乳白色の湯船と心地よい硫黄の香りが贅沢に感じられます。 また大浴場にはおむつ替え台もあり、子連れにも安心でした。 露天風呂は無料で30分貸切が可能です。あいにくの雨でしたが笠を被っての入浴は思い出になりました。 子供にも優しい素敵なお宿でした。また是非訪れたいです。

Lovely experience and onsen. I went with family and it was our first time visiting an onsen, and the employees were extremely accommodating to us. The scenery around the hotel is mountainous and peaceful. It was a little fancy for our tastes, especially the multi-course dinner that we weren't used to, but the onsen bath was an amazing experience. The outside onsen water was about body temperature, and the inside tubs were warmer. I went in the onsen a few times, at night and during the day, and both times it was beautiful and relaxing to observe the landscape while soaking in the milky water. There was a great ambiance in the hotel, it was very soothing and the futons were comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and they had self-serve coffee after breakfast. We stayed two nights which felt like a little much, and I think one night would have been better.
