Montespina Park Hotel

The first room we were assigned had an ant infestation, we were moved to another room that also had ants. The breakfast included canned fruit, cold hardboiled eggs and day old pastries. The Netflix wasn’t working in the second room and while we were told that it would be fixed, it was not. The front desk staff were very pleasant but lacking in suggestions for activities in the area. The Hotel appears to be in need of some TLC . I would rate it as a 2/3 star property.

We arrived at pool at 10:30am. At 2:30pm, I went to pool concession area to order food/drink and nobody was there. Went to front desk and asked where husband and I can purchase food. Man told me the restaurant was closed but can go to pool area for sandwich. Went back to pool area, where a man and a woman were now behind the counter. They both told me the kitchen is closed and doesn’t open till 7pm. I confirmed ‘so there’s no food’ and they said ‘no food’. The glass bakery style case was empty. So my husband ordered McDonald’s to be delivered. When husband met delivery man in hotel lobby, 2 men behind front counter became upset telling husband he can’t bring in outside food and that we need to eat in our hotel room. Huh? This is all new information to us all while the hotel had no food to sell us. They went back and forth, finally hotel employee said they would make exception after my husband said we will be checking out immediately. Husband brought food to pool area for us to eat. An employee who presented himself as only Italian speaking, approached us pointing to the bag of food and began speaking unkindly. Husband told him he had already spoken to front desk and they agreed we could eat it by the pool. Employee, very displeased, walks off and continued to glare at us the rest of the afternoon. Other than that… there was a strong sulfur smell more often than not. Outdated room with very small bathroom that needed a good cleaning. Trust me… keep looking at other hotel options.

The pool is quite nice, needed a bit of TLC here and there but nothing serious. The room we stayed in was in a block that overlooked the entrance, not a a bad room, walls were a bit thin between the different rooms though. The staff I found were excellent, house keeping were very good, the reception staff were excellent, we asked them to order a taxi for us, I was expecting a wee bit of trouble ( see a previous review ) but the kind lady on the desk told us how much we should be paying only the taxi driver... great service. Breakfast was good. BUT be warned, you are quite a distance from anywhere, if you want peace and quiet, great, but if you want to sight see and haven't got a car then not advised to stay here.

Excellent hotel, food and service. Great location, not too far from the center of the city by taxi. This is the place to go when you want some peace and quiet. Been here several times and it was never a disappointment. They’ll see me coming back in the nearby future!

This is a nice hotel but it does come with a few downfalls. The location isn't great there is a few things around such as supermarket, a few restaurants etc. If you are going to Naples to explore this isn't the hotel for you as you will need to get a 30 minute train/tube to get into the centre of Naples. If you aren't going to be leaving the hotel much then it is great, nice pool, quiet plenty of sunbeds. The breakfast is nice as you would expect really continental and english options. Lunch/tea isn't great quite pricey but with not much around that is probably why. You can make a tab to your room if you want to buy lunch or drinks around the pool which is handy but without care can rack up to a big bill at the end of your trip. We spent 3 days round the pool and 3 days exploring 1 in Rome, 1 in Pompeii and 1 on a coach trip round Amalfi, Positano and Sorrento. Alternating these days. There will definitely be better more central hotels easier for travelling round if that is what you want to do. The hotel is kept clean and the staff are lovely the main downfall simply is just the location.
