This was my first visit to Napoli and my first experience upon touchdown was La Controra Hostel. The Hostel is very easy to find if you are travelling from Capodichino Airport thanks to the very clear and precise directions provided with your booking and La Controra's centrality allows for the majority of Napoli's sights and attractions to be reached within walking distance. The warm, friendly welcome upon check in was a pleasant surprise and they couldn't have been more helpful. Both happy to help and knowledgeable of the city, La Controra's staff furnish you with Maps/Guides, recommendations for bars and restaurants and historical walking tours. The accommodation itself is supremely clean, with comfortable beds/linen, a number of spacious well maintained bathrooms and a picturesque open plan garden with a bar and terrace. Speaking of the bar, I very quickly made friends with both the amazing bar staff and my fellow guests, offering very reasonably priced drinks, food and an atmosphere which encouraged staff and guests alike to talk and get to know one another, La Controra's bar is a wonderful place to relax and socialise after a day's exploring. I have to also mention that I had never felt so secure in a hostel prior to my stay. All rooms have key card access and a locker/padlock is provided, I had full confidence my belongings were safe during the day. In addition, La Controra offers laundry services, luggage storage and a free breakfast which would put a lot of Hotels to shame. I have to give all of the amazing staff of La Controra Hostel a big Thank You, you guys went above and beyond, La Controra wasn't just ”a place to put my head down” but a part of my wonderful Napoli experience. The photo presented of the common room of this hotel is misleading. It is now a shell of its previous self. If people in earlier reviews mention breakfast - it is a feature of the past. Rooms are very basic and the Wifi is spotty - it is not usable. For that reason, I cannot give it a high rating. We mentioned it to the reception but basically they shrugged their shoulders. Most of the employees are friendly which is a plus. The hotel is located near the train station which is convenient.

Io e il mio ragazzo abiamo trascorso una notte di relax in una delle Junior Suite di questo hotel scoperto per caso ma che si è rivelato una piacevole scoperta. La camera dal design rustico, così come il resto dell'hotel, l'angolo della vasca idromassaggio con finte decorazioni floreali e luci a LED colorate creano un'a**osfera intima, rilassante e suggestiva. La chicca che abbiamo adorato è stata la cassa bluetooth per ascoltare la musica in vasca! La stanza era dotata tutti i servizi necessari, la pulizia top e ci hanno dato la possibilità di cenare in camera ordinando dall'esterno (noi abbiamo chiamato Glovo, ma ci hanno offerto dei volantini di qualche pizzeria/ristorante nei dintorni). Abbiamo anche apprezzato moltissimo gli orari di check-in e check-out (si poteva lasciare la camera entro le 12.00 facendo tutto con molta calma) e la colazione poteva essere sia ordinata e servita in camera scannerizzando un QR CODE, sia consumata al bar (fino alle 11.30) in cui abbiamo trovato un piccolo buffet davvero ben fornito, variegato e con prodotti di qualità. Sicuramente il rapporto qualità-prezzo è ottimo e siamo rimasti sorpresi e soddisfatti. Ci ritorneremo sicuramente!
