We stayed two nights. Even though we had booked a standard queen room, they gave us a family room on the ground floor because I had requested it due to a physical problem making climbing stairs difficult. I appreciated this. We discovered a bit of a problem with ants in the room. We had killed about a dozen of these when I reported it to management. They immediately sprayed around all the entry points, and provided a full can of insect spray. I'm glad to say we only found one any after that during the remainder of our stay. We appreciated the free continental breakfast, which had a reasonable variety of cereals, fruit toast as well as white and wholemeal, a range of fruit, yoghurt, and different types of milk, even soy! While there were some different types of tea available, we were disappointed that there was no coffee machine on which we could make even an espresso! Pod machines are not expensive, and far better than the disgusting instant sachets. We instead had to go out to a coffee shop. Apart from that, we enjoyed our stay. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom excellent, and had we wanted a swim, the pool and spa looked very inviting.

Staying a night at this hotel was ‘fine’. There was nothing that would stop us from returning for another short stay if we needed to go through Mildura again overnight, but there was nothing worth raving about either. The welcome at the reception desk was appropriate. Parking was no issue. The cost was reasonable too, and the room was clean but, other than the bathroom, our ‘spa room’ was very pokey and a bit ‘dark and dingy’ feeling. The bath itself was enormous and VERY comfortable to relax in, so that was the only 5/5 aspect!! The yellowed plastic 1980s looking old-school tissue box glued onto the side of the vanity unit was NOT 5/5!! The hotel is like that generally - a real hotch potch of old and new. It’d be nice if they really let their history shine even more and amplified and embraced it as the hotel could really be beautiful. The old photos in the foyer are wonderful to see but the modern day mishmash that results from various upgrades throughout the property over time is, well, …a mishmash!!

While the apartment itself was lovely and had all we required it was the little things that let this place down. We were on our way to Mildura when we got a call from indulge to say that the dishwasher in our room was broken and not to be used. Ok. I understand these these things happen. I asked if we could have another room and the answer was no they were fully booked. Ok. That’s fine. I then said well perhaps as recompense for the disruption perhaps you could reduce your rate. A two bedder is $290 a night. Once again the answer was no however they begrudgingly agreed to have housekeeping do our dishes for us. A service that is usually charged to the customer. Upon check in we went out to the balcony and found an ashtray full of butts. Had to ask reception to clean that away. On our first morning we had the nespresso pods but noticed they weren’t replaced. When I mentioned it to reception they said we only get two complimentary pods and the rest are charged to the mini bar. I mean come on. $290 a night and only 2 coffee pods ( this is a two bedroom apartment with three people in it. But could have been four. Half a pod each). Very disappointed and will not return.
