The location is perfect, if you are travelling in and out of Montevideo by bus. And at 50$ per night it is a bargain. Otherwise try and stay somewhere else. The hotel is not a 4* by all means. Noone speaks a word of English (I do speak broken Spanish, still difficult), housekeeping never showed up. I checked out one day early and although I sent an official request from booking and asked at reception, they took the whole amount.

The hotel is incredibly clean and looks brand new (it is actually 1.5 years old). The room (rooms 510 & 410) was spacious, clean and decorated very nicely. The shower water pressure was incredible and the beds very comfortable! But the very best part of this hotel is the staff! I booked 2 rooms for 2 seperate nights and Andres at the front desk made it easy and kept us in the same room. Vanessa, Maximillian and the gentleman working with Andres in the evening made a tour to Punta del Este that we didn’t was possible, possible. Thank you all for your help! I will not ever even look for another hotel for my next stay in Montevideo. I will only stay at the Hotel Costanero! They went above and beyond and the location by the shore is perfect! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT

The hotel is beautiful. As soon as you get inside you are greeted by the receptionists, who are extremely friendly and polite with everyone. As you get in the room, using your card, you can see the bathroom to the left and the TV and beds at the end of the hallway. Next to the bed, there's a small kitchen and a table, just in case you want to cook something there instead of going out. The cleaning crew wasn't very punctual, we never knew at what time they were coming to clean the room and they would always forget to restock the toilet paper or the towels but after a few complaints everything was solved and it never happened again. Apart from that, the rest of our experience staying there was amazing!

The hotel staff is great. The rooms are huge but need renovation. My bath tube had problems with water drainage. Taking a shower while the water reached my ankle. Not pleasant. The breakfast is fair enough. But had another issue. I asked for a fried egg and the waitress denied. “No more eggs”. A few minutes later a local guest asked and got it on a plate. As I questioned the double standard there was no understandable answer. Sad experience. At night the street are very dark around the hotel and there are plenty homeless people.

This hotel is ideally located to walk to the central (shopping) and old historic parts of the city. It is also a short walk from the coastal ”rambla”cycle and promenade. Reasonably priced restaurant / bar and breakfast service - comes with 22% discount if you pay with a non-Uruguayan credit card (as do all restaurant in Uruguay). We had nice big room on an upper floor with views over the Rio de la Plata and the sunset (but only top floor rooms have balcony - you can access the rooftop terrace but there is not much there other than the view). Reception very helpful in organizing visits, taxis and bike hire (these are available on site). Only slight criticism was location of air conditioning in large rooms meant we didn't benefit from it in the sleeping area and, during a very hot spell, this was a problem. Would recommend staying here.

I stayed at The Radisson in Montevideo for four nights while visiting a friend. First of all, the fourth night was needed at the last minute and altering the booking online could not have been easier. The hotel was the perfect location to explore the city as it is situated on the Plaza Independencia which is at the bottom of the main high street and at the top of the old town. My room, which was a superior double, had a great cityscape view, was clean and had everything I could need - ironing board, hair dryer, safe. The bed was large and comfortable and housekeeping was great each day. Most importantly for me, the air conditioning was efficient and effective - I even used it to pop in at lunchtime to cool off for an hour during a particularly hot day. I enjoyed breakfast on the top floor of the hotel with a great selection of food and breathtaking views. I had a couple of swims in the full-size pool which was carefully divided for families, adults and serious swimmers. The staff were attentive, obliging and (I am embarrassed to write) had great English to compensate my limited Spanish. The concierge gave me directions and got me taxis when I needed them and the outside security made me feel perfectly safe. All in all a great hotel I would recommend.

I stayed at this lovely hotel a number of times in April and May of this year 2023.This hotel is located in the heart of the Ciutad Vieja, the Old City, in Montevideo. The location is very convenient to the sights, attractions and restaurants of this part of the city.Check-in was handled speedily and the room I was given was clean and inviting.I want to pay tribute to the staff who were always friendly and helpful-Oscar,Francisco and Reuben...The ladies who operated the breakfast buffet were also friendly and welcoming....This is a lovely place to stay and a staff member is always available to assist with booking a taxi....I am happy to recommend this place and gladly give it 10 out of 10.

BBryce van de LaarWe spent two nights in Alquimiste and we never wanted to leave! The guesthouse which is almost 100 years old is full of antique furniture, original artwork, and even has a lookout tower on the 4th floor boasting 360 views of the Carrasco neighborhood.
It is a 2 minute walk from the beach and very close to some of Montevideo’s most famous restaurants. Carolina and Mark are delightful and happy to help with anything.
The restaurant is lovely, and the breakfasts is a real treat. Hot croissants, freshly baked scones with marmalade and cream cheese, freshly squeezed orange juice, and beautifully plated granola we’re just some of our favorites.
Staying at Alquimiste, you really feel like you are apart of something special!
PPengguna TetamuA small hotel with a big heart. The staff are lovely and generous. A special shout out to Federico who shared one of his own books on Montevideo with me and Sebastian with the sweet disposition (both at reception). Loved the mid century modern flourishes throughout the property. Also thanks to the restaurant staff who went to great lengths to accommodate my meal requests and always cooked up lovely, stylish, and flavorful dishes. I felt so coddled and look after by the hotel and its personal touch. For the price, it's an awesome find. Hotel staff were so helpful in assisting me to plan my days and provide advice on getting around the city. In terms of areas for improvement, the rooms are a bit small (nothing you can really do about this one) but make up for it with style and comfort. The housekeeping was a bit uneven and I was never quite sure what would be cleaned that day. I've noticed this as a problem at many hotels during and immediately after the pandemica and I suspect is due to staffing challenges leftover from the pandemic. Therefore I imagine it's an issue that will sort itself out as the pandemic recedes into the rearview. This was nothing alarming, BTW, but a slight area for improvement. Also, there was one receptionist who needs to do a slightly better job hiding his annoyance at dealing with non-Spanish speakers. Would definitely recommend this place.
PPengguna TetamuThe property was very conveniently located. It had a beautiful old-style, wrought iron elevator and a small but nice rooftop patio. The room also had some nice old-timey touches like the crown molding. The bathroom was a good size (compared to others we encountered on our SA adventures) and the shower had excellent water pressure. The receptionist who greeted us provided a map and lots of helpful advice about sights nearby. My friend enjoyed the coffee available near reception each morning. BUT, while beautiful, the elevator was ultimately very slow and sometimes didn't come at all. The furniture in the room showed some wear. While it fit with the antique-y theme, I probably would have removed some of it at that stage of dilapidation. Our room's bathroom when we arrived wasn't fully clean (there was hair on the floor and in the shower), and the waste basket's pedal opening mechanism was broken so it was awkward to use. We removed the wastebasket's top to make it easier for us (and hoping the whole thing would be replaced by housekeeping) but they just set the top back on (broken) in its inconvenient state again. And not the hotel's fault, but the entire 1.5 days we were visiting, one couple monopolized the rooftop deck - they and their belongings were spread out there every time we checked - so we didn't feel like we were welcome to use it.
PPengguna TetamuOverall, I did enjoy my stay at Palladium. The location is amazing; close to a bunch of nice restaurants, 5 minutes away from a big shopping centre (which includes ATMs and supermarkets) and by the beach. I stayed in a double room, it was basic but comfortable and nice; it had a little fridge and the bathroom was very comfortable. My only criticism to the room was that there was only one armchair (in a double room), so if we were having a drink, one of us had to sit on the bed. The lobby was comfy and the staff at reception were very helpful. Breakfast was not too bad, but it was a bit disappointing. Despite the minor negative points, I would go back.
PPengguna TetamuExcellent treatment and service makes you feel like at home! The sommelier Guillermo Jackson is world class! And for breakfast or lunch, a special mention for Ángel, waiting all tables with the same nice attention. And strategic location by all means in the city of Montevideo. Food is outstanding,.. Inventive, tasty, and always with a great wine selection, local or from Argentina and Chile for the
PPengguna TetamuAs I checked in last Monday at the Aloft, Tobias Bradley, one of the Front Desk Managers, noticed it was my birthday. From then on, he made my stay, a very special one. When you’re away from home on a special occasion, it could feel very lonely, so, every single detail, was greatly appreciated. I also want to thank the rest of the staff, specially, Gustavo, at the restaurant, who always had a warm smile and a kind gesture. In addition, this hotel has a perfect location, in an upscale area at Punta Carretas, practically next to a big shopping mall, surrounded by great gastronomy, and a block away from Rio de la Plata. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful experience. I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.
Apart from being a great location close to departmental transport and the hotel including the rooms are very clean the staff are extremely friendly and courteous plus they go out of they way to help - This is are second time stying in the hotel and we would highly recommend it
