After reading other reviews for this hotel, I have to put my 2 cents in. First - the restaurant, Renoir. For dinner, they offer things like octopus or salmon with squid ink tiles. We were having a tough time finding something that sounded good. We ended up ordering the special, which was risotto. It was bland but ok. Nothing special. We didn't ask the price. When we got the bill we were stunned. Who pays 50 for risotto??? Granted this is Canadian dollars, so in US dollars it was $37. Each. Our friend ordered the foie gras with brioche, and it was not good. The brioche was even a little burned on the bottom. The next morning we had breakfast at Renoir, which was better, but still not outstanding. The sausage was truly inedible. We had our car valet parked for one night, and that was CAD 45. Plus tax. The room was 479. Plus tax. Then there was the mysterious ”Urban Experience Fee”, which was 15. Plus tax. I added up all of the taxes on our bill and they came to 135.35, which was 15% of our total bill. So for a one night stay in Montreal, we spent just shy of CAD 900. I don't think we have EVER spent that much for an overnight stay anywhere. It's especially annoying since the meals were so disappointing. The room was fine, but again, nothing special. The closet doors were worn and tatty looking. There was a mini bar with outrageously priced items, such as M&M candies for CAD 9. The redeeming feature of the room was the bath, which was lovely. Nice shower, separate tub, marble floor and walls. I didn't care for the soap/shampoo dispensers, but that's getting to be more common in hotels. If you're planning a visit, bring lots of cash. And be prepared to be taxed on everything multiple times.

First off, if you`re reading this and you`re a Bonvoy Platinum (or above member) then I`d book this over any other Montreal property. The Club Lounge is that good (more on that later). My family and I stayed her at the tail end of a Quebec vacation. The location is very central, just a couple of blocks away from Rue St. Catherine and the Metro and maybe a 20 minute walk to Old Town and Mount Royal. As others have mentioned, the lobby is undergoing a renovation but the Club Lounge is open and newly redone and absolutely amazing. We didn`t use the pool or gym but we did check them out and they look really nice, there`s also a large outdoor space just off the pool with tables so even if you don`t have club lounge access there`s some nice places to hang, especially in nice weather. Parking was surprisingly affordable for a large city at aroung $25.00 a day. Our junior suite was actually larger than I thought it would be a king size bed in the bedroom and a separate living room with a queen size sofa, my teenager used the sofa bed and didn`t have any complaints. The room also had a cool table/ that could electronically lower or raise and had a bunch of USB ports built in. I imagine this would be very handy for anyone wanting to get some work done in the room. The true jewel of this property is the club lounge, located on the top floor it has absolutely stunning views of the city and is the largest I've seen yet so even though breakfast was extremely busy, we still found seating. Breakfast consisted of eggs, french toast some breakfast meats plus a chacuterie and cheese platter, fruits, croissants etc. There was plenty to choose from and the quality was quite good. They do a really nice affternoon spread staring at 5pm that could easily take care of dinner with hot foods, chacuterie and even nice little dishes full of pickeled vegetables. My only complaint would be tht the bar service was very pricey. Also a couple of the attendants weren't very friendly and it was very challenging to get information about Gluten-Free foods for my daughter. The chef even came out at one point to talk to a worker I'd asked and even though I was right there, he didn't look at me or offer to help me find some foods for her. Of course this is only an issue if you're concerned about allergies and the food was plentiful and very good. Overall this is a beautiful property and I'll definitely return.

On arrival just after 3pm, our room was ready and as Bonvoy Platinum members we had the option of points or morning breakfast during the stay. We chose Breaky! Breakfast is a menu made to order fare in the East Asian Asiatique restaurant just off the hotel lobby and was a gastric delight and one of the highlights of our weekend stay. The hallways to the room are concernedly dark and a flashlight is a necessary appliance in order to correctly find room numbers – A design flaw or part of the eclectic experience? Our appointed one-bedroom suite was designed and furnished in a pleasant funky design, similar to the rest of the property. It did take a bit of time and the skill set of an engineer to figure out what wall light switches operated what and how to operate the lighting appliances themselves. At night with all the lights on the room was quite dim in keeping with the needed seeing eye dog darkened hallway ambience. Included in the room was a handy mini fridge along with a capsule coffee maker a much appreciated and necessary evil for early morning coffee fixes! Unfortunately, the first night the HVAC heating and A/C unit along with a neighboring unit banged and clunked loudly at the beginning and end of each of the constantly repeating winter heating cycles which made for a very sleepless night. The second front staff person we spoke to eventually moved us to a another much quieter suite the next morning and the manager Florian followed up a few hours later to ensure our comfort and satisfaction was now acceptable! We are always appreciative when a property is proactive in first recognizing an avoidable detrimental occurrence and then acts genuinely to make it right for the guest – We give the property, staffs and management high marks for their efforts! The location of the property is another highlight of any stay here – Shopping and restaurants are just a few blocks or less away. China town is another one kilometer short walk and The old Port is a bit longer walk but very doable in good weather. We look forward to a future stay and wish to thank the management and staffs for their contribution to the success of our special weekend away in Montreal – Cheers!

Been staying at this hotel for twenty years. I’d estimate this stay as average. The staff was great to deal with once again. They are this property’s #1 asset. I loved the lobby bar & the fact it came with a free drink for every day of my four-day stay. But this hotel is starting to feel outdated since the last time it underwent major renovations was over a decade ago. For one i’d start with updating the bathrooms & either remove the carpeting for flooring or new carpeting. Then the furniture. The internet connection was iffy. Noisy if you’re facing the south side on weekdays due to major construction along nearby Peel street. Another negative is the rate they charge for valet parking. I opted to park my car on my own at a nearby parking garage for over half the price. The biggest beef i have is they continue charging top price to stay there although other similar or better hotels are newer or recently renovated and charge less or similar to stay there. And finally finding out that the pool was closed down for the summer was very disappointing. Had i known about this in advance i would not have stayed here this time around. Especially considering the price they still charge.

The location was perfect, it only takes about five minutes walk to the McGill uni and subway stations. The street was clean and safe to take a night walk. Besides, they provided hot breakfast such as warm sausages, scrambled egg, hard boiled eggs, various kinds of bread, coffee, cereal, apple and orange juices. I totally recommend this hotel.
The Ritz-Carlton, Montreal

Three most memorable things about the Ritz: 1. Heated toilet seats! What a wonderful surprise. The toilet was high end and opened and closed automatically, had a built in bidet and a heated toilet seat. 2. Slippers for men and women that were a perfect fit for my husband and I. 3. Wonderful surprise to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Thank you for making it so memorable. We were in the Signature King which was very spacious and clean. Location was perfect and within walking distance to Old Montreal and St. Catherine's. Bed was extremely comfortable. We had an issue with the electricity not working in a couple of outlets and within minutes, someone came up and fixed it. Great service. Robes and bath towels were also nice and fluffy. Loved the blackout curtains too. Breakfast was delicious and it was nice to sit outside and look out at the nicely landscaped gardens. The lounge had delicious drinks and great service. Two minor items that could improve: 1. They have a small glass jar of water by the reception with fruit in it. You need a larger jar or less fruit since it did not taste very well. 2. The doormen never opened the doors for anyone they just stood there.. . very odd. Excellent stay and looking forward to going back there!
Novotel Montreal Center

We stayed a couple of nights pre-cruise to acclimatise and enjoy Montreal in the early Summer. We had a pleasant stay, very personable staff and a decent room. Novotel fittings seem to lean toward minimalist scandi which can give an air of being sp****, but bedding was very comfortable. Additional pillows appeared on request. Breakfast was interesting, again possibly post-covid staffing issues as things took a while but the staff were again very engaging. Great location on Rue de la Montagne with easy access to public transit and taxis to the port. Definitely would stay here again.

Great hotel! I loved this place and really would like to come back and stay here. We had a great room. We had two queen size beds and lots of space to move around. Perfect for three adult women. Right outside our door, there was a distilled water fountain where we could get water for the Nespresso machine in our room which also had really cute demitasse cups and silver saucers. The front desk staff was helpful both before and after our stay as I had questions that I called about before our arrival and when we checked out, they gave us directions from the front desk to the VIA RAIL station which was a 10 minute walk so we could head to Quebec City.
