he location was central & overlooked the beach with views up the coast. The pool was small but on a lovely terrace & you could order drinks to be brought up from the bar downstairs. The rooms were cleaned everyday, the staff were friendly & helpful.

Having stayed at the Riu Tres Islas in Corralejo every year for 20 years, we decided to have a change and chose the Calpyso mainly for it's 'adult-only' status. We were impressed from the moment of our arrival, about 9.00pm. We were greeted at reception by Juan Carlos who went over and above to help us - we can't praise him highly enough. The hotel is vast and after leaving our cases in the room we came down to have the cold dinner thoughtfully provided for us - and got completely lost! Perhaps a map of the layout of the hotel might be helpful on arrival - but again, Juan Carlos came to our rescue. The hotel is very impressive - the rooms and balcony are huge. And because of the way the hotel is built there is no-one immediately overhead - a huge plus to my mind. The food is excellent, although a more limited choice than the Tres Islas. It's slightly skewed in favour of German culinary tastes but it wasn't a problem at all. The guests are predominantly more mature Germans which we liked actually. You don't get distracted by listening to other English conversations, and the general atmosphere is peaceful and quiet. The only exception is the pool aerobics at 11.15am every day. It involves a lot of loud guidance by the very keen instructors and some very loud music. we would rather not have it, but it was entertaning to watch and only lasted 30 minutes. The lifts have been mentioned in other reviews - a funicular style because of the structure of the hotel. They could be a little slow occasionally but the lifts service 12 floors and if it has to stop at a number of floors it takes time. But you're on holiday - there's no hurry. and a funicular lift with a view over the sea is a plus. Morro Jable itself is a charming small town with a lovely atmosphere, and a very handy supermarket only 5-10 minutes walk away from the hotel. There's also a very nice promenade walk on the seafront outside the hotel. Now, the beach. There is a lovely, peaceful sandy beach immediately outside the hotel, but with no sunbeds or parasols. For those, it's a 10-minute walk further along, which is not a problem. It's an easy walk. For most of the first week it was fine - it was fairly peaceful. Then in the second week all hell seemed to break loose. There are two or three large hotels in close proximity to the sun beds and the music that was blaring out from them was almost unbearable. On one occasion there seemed to be a pop concert in the grounds with a Glastonbury-style stage having been erected. there were football match style cheers and shouting and one afternoon all three hotels were competing for sound volume. We left the beach at that point as it became unbearable, and after 4 days of loud music we didn't go back to the sunbeds, which was a shame because a beach holiday is one of the main things we came for. In summary, the hotel is fantastic, the staff are wonderful, the town is charming. It had pretty-much all we wanted. We would very happily go back if it wer

We reluctantly decided to come to this hotel on a half board basis with no option to upgrade, but we have had an amazing time. The hotel is predominantly German but the people we met were so friendly and helpful. The staff were great especially Jesus, great manager who had only your happiness at heart. The beach is to die for, just like being in the Caribbean! The prices at the beach bars are very reasonable too. We cannot fault the place and we are already planning our next visit and we haven't left yet we just love this place! When you visit try to get a high floor as the views are great, lovely sea view plus sunsets are Happy holidays peeps

Probably the best location you could wish for, on a beautiful beach, a short walk to a few bars and shops, hardly any traffic noise. The hotel is really well laid out, it has everything you need, the rooms are spacious and clean with large balconies but as others have said, could do with a refurb, I would recommend paying extra for a sea view, if you go with TUI don't pay the extra at a shop, it was double the price I got on line. The drinks are reasonably priced, the food is good with plenty of choice. It is catered mainly towards German guests but this is not a problem, the entertainment is very "Eurovision". The pool area could do with some music during the day as it is very stale during the day, not blaring out but in the background. Recommendations .... ask for a sea view, not too high as the lifts are very slow and you do have to wait a long time so the stairs are quicker. We would definitely go back, probably not with TUI though, you still end up on a budget airline.

Our 4th visit albeit our 1st in 9 years. The good:- The staff - superb - we recognised many of them from previous visits Location - next to a lovely sandy beach that stretches for miles Large bedroom and balcony Worth paying extra for a sea view Slept well with minimal nighttime noise The food - generally very good The not quite so good:- The 2 lifts - temperamental, with one regularly out of action The pillows - too soft - no alternative Safe charge - €36 for 2 weeks Hotel is showing its age, no real modernisation in 9 years Would we return? - Yes, if they can sort the lifts out!

The good bits. Great location on the beach and close to the Spa if you take the short cut through the Spa car park. Exceptionally clean and wonderful polite staff everywhere. Plenty of sunbeds. Just place your provided towels where you want them. Go back hours later. No one cares. Good WiFi connection but comes up as not secure. Big room and balcony. Tea making facilities refreshed daily. Fridge provided. Safe €3 a day which should be free in A TUI BLUE hotel. Food was hot with a good selection. Pasta overcooked. Drinks are very expensive. One of the best beaches ever. Bad bits. This is a German hotel so if you are a Brit think twice. Lacks atmosphere. No background music anywhere. Most entertainment in German. No English TV channels except Discovery and Nat Geo. No English news channel. Very few Brits here. Resort is dull. More of a shopping centre. So few quality bars and restaurants. Perfect if you want a week of peace and quiet

The Hotel Calypso is run by the TUI group, so is clean, well-appointed and has great efficient staff. We were late arrivals, so it was a pleasant bonus to be told at check-in that a plate of food was left in the dining room for us - a great start to the holiday. Location is excellent as the beach is just across the walkway, local cafes & bars are a short walk and as Calypso is south facing, the sun shines into apartment for most of the day. The only minor quibble is the absence of hair shampoo - current airline restriction mean we all try omit as much as we can, so shampoo in addition to the shower gel would be nice.
