Hotel berhampiran JR Kaesa station, Nakano

What a lovely spot! 2 minutes walk from the train station, we stayed in a traditional Japanese room which was great fun. The room was huge, 2 comfortable futons, low table with floor seats, kettle in the room (bring your own tea or coffee) and a good shower. The owners were extremely helpful despite the language barrier (Google translate was successfully used). They advised us on onward train timetables, gave us a ride to the Snow Monkeys Park saving us having to wait for the bus, picked us up again, gave my husband and I a private onsen session and delivered a huge cooked Chinese breakfast to our room in the morning. When we left they gave us an ornamental chopsticks set as a gift. Can highly recommend this ryokan.

I visited Nagano both to visit family and to work. The reception was completely understanding of my need to have the hotel room for video calls overseas and kindly helped me arrange servicing of the room accordingly. The room size for one was comfortable enough for a foreigner about 6 foot 1 in height. The bed was cozy, and overall the room was quiet despite being there over the New Year holiday. The Chinese dinner box was pretty good, and the 16th floor breakfast buffet has both an amazing view and a delicious buffet. It's quite Japanese-themed, but has enough western food variety to make trying it more than once during the trip possible.

We stayed here at the end of our time in Japan as a treat and for the traditional Japanese inn / onsen experience and we certainly weren’t disappointed. The room was huge and the seating area was seamlessly converted for sleeping by the hotel staff while we ate our dinner. The food was traditional Japanese with seemingly endless small plates of delicacies (a similar story at breakfast). The onsen was fabulous - we used it 3 times in the one night we were there and loved it. All in all a great experience and lovely place to stay.

We recently stayed here for one night while visiting the Snow Monkey Park. First of all, the location is fantastic. It's less than a three minute walk from the main train station and it's also located right by the bus stop which you take to the Snow Monkey Park entrance. I'd estimate that the bus ride took about a 15 min (maybe even less) because we actually walked the whole way back from the park instead of the bus, and it took us about 30 min. The staff was incredibly nice in the hotel. They didn't speak much English, but they tried to accommodate us the entire time and were always warm and friendly. We were greeted on arrival with a choice of free drink, while we sat next to a cozy fire in the lobby to warm up. We booked the Japanese room, which was very spacious in size. We had a small issue with the heat and a request for an extra cleaning in our bathroom, but the staff was on top of the issues immediately, and took care of everything in minutes. We ended up booking the private onsen on the roof, which is definitely recommended! We were there during a pretty bad snow storm, and it was a very unique experience to be in the onsen, as snow was falling around us. The next morning, breakfast was included in our rate. We were positioned in our own blocked off booth, and were given a HUGE spread from a traditional Japanese breakfast. Though the food was very foreign to us, we did try most items, and were very impressed by the classy presentation of each of the items. Overall, great experience at the Hotel Tsubakino!

I cannot recommend staying at Iiyamakan enough. The amenities and cleanliness are both great, but what sets it apart is the service, which even for Japanese standards is unmatched. The host was extremely helpful, authentic, and friendly, going above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable stay and an enjoyable time. The breakfasts each morning were huge, very tasty and diverse; each night the hot tub was clean and prepared; and when it was cold, the host made sure I understood how the heater worked, so I never got cold. He even packed me a lunch each day and offered to drive me to a sightseeing spot more than 30 minutes away, telling me about the local mountains and culture on the way. The authentic care and energy that was put into my stay made it one I wont forget. Definitely worth every penny.

東京から茅野までの「あずさ」の往復とバスの乗って松本と上田の観光、翌々日に高遠へ行くという信州の桜を巡る格安のツアーで2泊しました。総額で34,000円なのでホテルに割ける費用は限られていると思います。なのでホテルには期待はしていませんでした。湯田中温泉と言っても夜間瀬川の対岸の穂波温泉に位置します。湯田中温泉も寂れていますが、さらにこちら側は寂れています。周囲には廃墟になったホテルや旅館もある中頑張っているのだと思いますが、施設はかなりくたびれています。特に客室のくたびれ度合いは進んでいると思います。2泊連泊なのですが、掃除や布団の上げ下ろしは省略されています。浴衣とバスタオルなどは2泊分が用意されていました。そんな中で夕食は部屋食なので、テーブルは脇に寄せられ、照明が当たらないので暗い印象を受けます。ツアーの案内にも部屋食がポイントにはなっていますが、特にサービスとしてのポイントではなく、大広間の1つが朝食会場なのと、もう1つが宴会場なので部屋で食べるしかないのが実情のように思います。宿泊した時は別の団体さんが宴会をしていて、カラオケの音がうるさかったです。フロントから一度階段を下りてエレベーターに乗るので、足の悪い方にはお勧めできません。部屋食は会席のセットですが、コンロで暖める料理が2つありますが、それ以外は冷めています。同じように温め直せればよいと思います。自分たちはコンロの料理の脇に乗せて温め直しました。固形燃料とアルミホイルとライターがあると便利だと思います。部屋にはお勧めの追加料理の案内がありますが、注文するなら前日の早い時間にしたほうが良いと思います。朝食時はレストランのスタッフの方が少なくて、ジュースに牛乳や料理がすぐに切れてしまいますが補充が遅いです。珈琲が切れていたのでスタッフの方にお願いしたところ、廊下から「コ―ヒーコーヒーうるさいんだよ！」という声が聞こえてきました。その方が戻ってきたので嗜めると片付けの手を止めずにお尻をこちらに向けながら「そりゃーすいませんでしたね。」と言って去っていきます。フロントに行って報告したところすぐに読んで謝らせます。」とのことでしたが、謝意のある方では無いのは分かっているので翌朝のレストランで顔を合わせないようにしていただきました。翌朝は若いスタッフの方がたくさんいて驚きました。唯一温泉だけは源泉かけ流しで、もったいないほどお湯が流れています。少し集めで気持ち良かったです。サウナはありませんが、露天風呂も良かったです。ちょっと残念な滞在ではありましたが、朝食の一件以外は悪い印象はありません。

小布施から無料の送迎バスで山田温泉へ向かい予算の都合で諦めた有名旅館もちらほら見ながら風景館に着いたときは正直暗い気持ちに。古ぼけて他の旅館より見劣りがしているように感じました。 部屋に案内いただいてすぐ友人と「次来るときは別の旅館にしよう」などと失礼なことを言ってました。 しかし、一泊して再びバスに乗る頃には「すぐにでもまた来たい！風景館にしか泊まりたくない」に変わっていました。 まず、予約時に足が悪いと言ったところベッドのある部屋とその前の部屋にテーブル、椅子をセットして食事をできるようにして下さってたのですが、そのご配慮のお陰で何の不自由もなく快適な滞在ができました。 お湯も良く、施設は古くても清潔でした。 お料理も美味しく品数もこれでもかと言うくらいありましたので残してしまうほど。朝食も充実していて驚きました。 朝カレー(こんにゃく入り)も朝にはぴったり。 部屋の窓際にしつらえられた小さなカウンターは酒飲みの私たちにはバーカウンターとなり、吹雪始めた谷を見ながら幻想的な夜をすごしました。 でも何よりも素晴らしかったのはおかみさんを初めとする宿の方々の人柄ともてなしです。 ここまで行き届いた心からのもてなしを受けるのは高級旅館でもめったにありません。 次の宿は小布施に決まっていたのでそのつぎの日に戻って来ようとしましたが休館日にあたり実現できず残念でした。 小布施も楽しかったのですが、今度来るときには風景館に連泊して小布施に通おうと思ってます。

We stayed here for a couple of nights and it was a really clean and comfortable hotel and just a 7 minute walk from Nagano Station, a 7 minute walk to bus stop 23 for the Snow Monkey Park and close to a variety of restaurants and bars. It is also 15/20 minutes to Zenko-Ji which is a beautiful Buddhist temple and well worth visiting. We didn’t have breakfast included during our stay but other guests said that it was really good. Our room was really clean, spacious and comfortable with a firm mattress, a tv, toiletries and a kettle. In reception you can help yourself to teas, coffee and other toiletries for free which was helpful. The staff were really friendly and patient as we don’t speak Japanese. Our room was next to the railway line but the sound proofing was excellent and it was so quiet and we had two good nights of sleep. A comfortable and clean hotel that is conveniently located for exploring Negano.

Amazing experience in Japan! I have been flying to Japan as airline staff for many years. Our experience in this Ryokan was exceptional. The food was the highest quality, the design and art of the hotel and the service was over and above! Being able to experience the Snow Monkeys in the hot springs early in the morning before the crowds was such an intimate and incredible event for me. I have pictures that are a once in a lifetime capture. Next we were abe to do spring skiing at the highest altitude in Japan! Coming back after a fun day to the cozy onsen experience and wonderful meal was a great comfort. There is also a beautiful bar and lounge for dessert or happy hour on the lobby level. You can watch the ski and Snow Monkey videos on the big screen.I can’t wait to return to this Inn again!
