Hotel 3 Bintang di Naoshima

As long as your expectations are set at around a hostel level, then this place is great. Lovely views, convenient location, rooms are clean and feel fairly spacious, nicely designed. Beyond that, we felt there was more care that could have been extended. We left our bags as it was too early to check in, and spent the day out sight seeing in extreme heat. When we returned, complete overheated and exhausted, our bags were still at the bottom of 3 levels of stairs, so we had to lug them up three levels. We then arrived at our room and it was like a sauna! No air conditioning on and the fridge was turned off! So the cold drinks we had bought had no way of staying cold as the fridge took time to work. The air con took ages to cool down the room. It would have been a really simple gesture, knowing the heat and knowing we were unlikely to get bank to our room until later, to turn those on for us. There was also no warning given about dinner options - most things book out and close early. The restaurant attached to My Lodge just shrugged their shoulders when we looked for solutions. It would make a huge difference to the stay of guests if, upon check-in or even at the time of booking, they were advised about limited dinner options. And if in Summer, air conditioning and fridges were turned on. I understand that taking bags to the room may be too much for the owners as it’s a steep climb, but this also may prove difficult for some guests, so something to be aware of. These may sound like small things, but they made our stay so much more tiring and uncomfortable.

Located just less than 1 km from Hachiman Shrine, Episode1 features accommodation in Naoshima with access to free bikes, a garden, as well as luggage storage space. It is situated 1.2 km from Ando Museum and offers a housekeeping service. The guest house provides rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. The accommodation comes with a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with bidet, bath and slippers, while the kitchenette features an oven, a microwave and a toaster. A fridge, a stovetop and kitchenware are also featured, as well as a coffee machine and a kettle. At the guest house, all units have bed linen and towels. 旅客船の港から近く、家プロジェクトを回るのに良い立地でした。見た目は民家ですが、部屋は清潔感があり、ユニットバスやウォシュレットも完備されていてよかったです。寒い日でしたが電気敷き毛布があって温かくして眠ることができました。ご主人がとてもお優しくて、送迎や直島のビュースポットを案内してくださって、直島観光を満喫できました。また直島に来たいと思いました。その時も竹の家を利用したいと思います。

These rooms are very nice at a great price, close to Miyanoura Port and the I Heart U Bath. We stayed in Room C, which had 2 twin beds and a sofa in the bedroom, a kitchenette with a dining table, and a bathroom. We were in Naoshima mid week in April and discovered there is very little food available in the evening. So while staying here we were thankful for our microwave as we had 7-Eleven picnics both nights here.

This little guesthouse is simple but so well priced and met all our needs - mostly its close proximity (15 minutes walk) to both Honnura port area and the start of the Benesse house art zone, the main locations for the absolutely amazing art installations on Naoshima. Room was well sized, clean, secure and warm. The host was very friendly - he even gave us a lift into the Benesse area to give us a great head start on our day, and securely stored our luggage for the day. I would definitely stay here again. For those coming to Naoshima I would recommend staying 2 nights so you are not rushing your time on this beautiful serene island and make sure you book various galleries well in advance, they sell out even in off season!!

Large yurt with 4 beds. Very clean. Quite hard beds. Excellent location near Benesse Museum (walking distance, or next to bus stop). Excellent airconditioning. Toilets and shower are quite far from the yurts. Basic comfort but that’s ok. Very quite place. Diner is good: you get a large plate with plentiful of meat and some shrimps, vegetables to put on a table bbq. Breakfast is too basic and not our taste: Japanese udon noodles. Tip: go to the nearby Terrace restaurant : you get an excellent breakfast buffet with tons of choice for around 25-30 euro.
