Terokai Ulasan Tetamu Hotel di Nara

Centurion Hotel Classic Nara Station
4.4/582 Ulasan
The hotel is near to Nara Station JR. just 10 minutes walking. Also is very close to the Nara Park and so many places for food around. The room is big, lots of space. Bed is very comfortable and bathroom is good. The service is really amazing. I arrived before the check in and they sent my luggage to the room directly. Very recommended.

Hotel with an excellent location next to Nara Park. There is a small kitchen on the floor. The room (dormitory) has a toilet and two showers. There are also showers and toilets on the floor. The bed is normal, but the bed linen is very rough and when someone moves you can hear it a lot.

I stayed at this hotel based on the travel agent's recommendation, as it has good internet access and is close to Kintetsu Nara Station. I had requested a larger room, as I had heard that the rooms were on the small side. Upon arriving at Kintetsu Nara Station from Kyoto, I found that the hotel was indeed very close. When I arrived at the hotel, I found a group of students on a school trip standing in front of the entrance. However, the teacher immediately asked them to 'make way,' and the hotel staff welcomed us to the reception on the second floor. Check-in was quick. Perhaps because I had requested a larger room, there was a Japanese-style tatami room in addition to the twin beds, which was plenty of space by Japanese standards. Breakfast was served at the restaurant on the first floor and consisted of a moderate amount of Japanese food. Those with a big appetite might be disappointed. The staff kindly agreed to store my luggage until I checked into my next hotel, and even included my jacket that I had left in the room. Overall, I think this is a hotel I would stay at again. I heard from the guide that it is a fairly old-established hotel.

Hotel OBANA

Everyone at the hotel was *incredibly* kind, welcoming, helpful, and thoughtful. The room was lovely: well-appointed, quiet, incredibly clean, and boasting a stunning view of Kōfukuji's five-storied pagoda. The hotel itself is right next to Sarusawa Pond & central to everything in Nara. Breakfast was truly delicious, with grilled fish, stew, vegetables, egg, nori, etc. & strong coffee. Great value & lots of nice touches, including an origami charm at checkout. In the lobby, there is an extensive library (museum catalogues, books about Nara, novels) and a shop that sells crafts and delicacies made locally. Finally, the hotel is taking every precaution: temperature checks, hand sanitizer everywhere you look, alcohol wipes provided in rooms, social distancing and food served individually (rather than buffet style) in the restaurant.

This is the first hotel I left before my stay was over literally in decades - and as it was a no-frills booking, of course no money back. The location isn't half as good as people in the reviews make it out to be; it's a big mass hotel with a Japanese theme only; it's two stars at best (here three; the booking website gave four). The real problem was the rundown, smelly, not deeply cleaned room, and I get - and chose - the Japanese style, but that doesn't mean you won't have any English information at all, nor functionable electricity plugs, and normally if you need to lie down and rest, a futon bed will be made up for you. When arriving, the staff member showing me the room couldn't open the door for five minutes because of the lock, and that stayed symbolical. As the worst was the unfriendly (male) reception staff, the lowest level of hospitality ever, unprofessional to the max - I think they didn't try to accommodate me (literally and figuratively) as they thought if I'd leave they'd keep the money but could rerent the room, as there was some festival in town. Never looking for solutions, always thinking from convenience from their side - from useless waiting to always having better things to do to talk to guests to not even trying to help in any way to create a nice stay. It's rare in Japan that people with an unhospitable attitude work in hospitality. I'm usually neither grouchy nor unduly demanding, as my long track record of tripadvisor reviews shows - this was really a lowpoint of lodging in my life, and one of two of the worst places I ever stayed in East Asia. I was really glad to leave and be back on the train to Kyoto, and I recommend anyone to book a nice Ryokan or a good global-Western hotel in Nara instead.
