Sphinx Golden Gate Inn

We booked a room at Leo Patre Hotel for 1 night. Afterwards we added a second night. When we arrived we were told that Leo Patre was already full so we were given a "upgrade" in the Jimmy's Pyramids view. We felt very rushed by the guy, he told us to get cash. He tries to convince you he is honest and wants the best. Then he asks to pay for the hotel and additionally you can book a tour, which we did (to be honest this was our own fault). After having a good night we checked and found out that Jimmy's view was cheaper than Leo Patre. The latter one had a gym, pyramid room view, hot tub. Jimmy's view had none of them. We were charged more than we had to pay for Leo Patre while the room/hotel in Jimmy's view was not as good as the description for Leo Patre. Next day we decide to search for Leo Patre, we didn't find the hotel. Then we decided to leave after the first night. We tried to bargain on a refund. First we had an agreement, then Jimmy left for half an hour, then Jimmy showed up with a "friend" (to intimidate). Finally, 2 hours after the beginning of our conversation/bargaining they started to "discuss" in the lobby. Then we decided to leave, under pressure (we had to take the train to Aswan) we had to accept some money, in fact this was only the Pyramid tour we had booked earlier. So no refund for the hotel. When we left the hotel told we didn't show up so we had to pay an extra fine. Besides this scam, room is ok, breakfast is bad (some bread, fries and tasteless falafel), one room had a broken shower. Avoid this place at all cost!

Great location and view of the pyramids. Also known as Jimmy’s hotel. We had a really warm welcome from Jimmy. The roof too bar looks directly at the pyramids and you can watch the sound and light show in the evening. The falafels for breakfast were great. The sunrise and sunset over the pyramids too.

Hôtel très agréable avec un magnifique rooftop vue sur les pyramides où nous avons pu boire le thé à notre arrivée ainsi que le petit déjeuné le lendemain qui était très bon. Les chambres sont propres et agréables. En revanche, le cartier est assez bruyant. Le personnels étaient très accueillant et sympathique.
