We visited for the day, as guests of the sister resort on the beach. The property is secluded and somewhat rustic. Day guests have access to the pool, which is small but appropriate for the number of guests, a full bar, a small outdoor dining patio, and a small but clean bathroom. You can get down to the sea with an 8 foot jump (or climb down the ladder) or just enjoy the pool. The staff were wonderful, and you could not ask for a more tranquil Negril experience. If you’re looking to escape the bustle of the beach, this is your place!

After leaving the sister resort on the beach, we were a little anxious to arrive on the cliffs because some people said there’s not much to it and we would be bored. Quite the contrary, if you’re looking for a quiet and reserved time. There are only a small amount of rooms, but they are wonderfully appointed for an incredible price. The staff is helpful and accommodating and honestly if given the choice, I wouldn’t go back to the beach resort. Next time I come I would just stay here the whole time.I am anticipating shedding a tear when I leave!

Fantastic and beautiful. High standard of cleanliness, service and a wonderful place. The Staff could not do enough for you. A mention must go to Hopeton, who was amazing and so helpful and friendly. The Cleaning Staff and Monday the Gardner were always attentive and friendly. Amazing food. The Chefs were all excellent. The Restaurant could do with staying open a little later. 7pm is quite early to close, there's not a lot else around there. I understand it is a quiet area, but food orders had to be given at 630pm latest for dinner, which was a bit early for us. 8pm would be good. Reception staff were helpful. The Villas had amazing views and were immaculately kept. We enjoyed our balcony and watching the dolphins in the mornings following the fishing boats. Would definitely return to this Hotel in the future.

We were super late for check in. Someone from the hotel called us in the afternoon to check what time we'd arrive and let us know that the property closes off early so the security would give us our room key. This was super helpful because we were hungry so at that point, we stopped in Montego Bay for a meal. When we had finally arrived, the security guard was welcoming. The room was super clean and comfortable. A very homie room with a big sliding balcony door, a hammock on the balcony, terrazzo tiles, and a natural negril vibe with tree diversity, which we knew meant we'd get to see lots of birds in the morning. Had a comfortable night's sleep and a very tasty breakfast. Fruits were sweet and omelet was perfect! We ate breakfast while watching the sea and saw a pod of dolphins! Then we relaxed on the cool deck for a bit and enjoyed the sea breeze. The only draw back is that we couldn't enter the sea from this property. But you can always go down to the sister property Idle Awhile Beach for your beach day.

Nacko- the head chef at The Cliffs is an amazing culinary artist. He will make you traditional Jamaica fare that will melt in you mouth. Must have red snapper and curry shrimp and is to die for. He totally is vibe all himself. You don’t want to leave.

After coming to Negril for 40+ years, Idle Awhile-Cliffs has truly become our new home away from home. We appreciate that it is a rustic/chic boutique hotel with only seven rooms while providing great amenities including a fresh water pool, fabulous dining/lounge, cliff diving/swimming, and onsite security. The villas have a full kitchen, two full bathrooms, two outdoor sitting terraces, and a king sized bed with incredible ocean views (and wave sounds). With the upstairs bedroom you can crank the AC if you want a cool sleep while leaving the main level patio doors wide open all day with the ceiling fans on. If you want a chill, private & quiet vibe with the option of catching the shuttle to the Idle Awhile-Beach property to walk the seven mile beach and part-take in a little more action, this is the place for you. It's important to note that as the property is past the lighthouse it is a $20/25. US taxi ride to the beach. The staff are great especially Site Manager, Sandria; Chef Nack; Chef Otis; Servers Hopeton, Rashane & Claudia; as well as the housekeeping and grounds keepers. For pet lovers, like us, there is a resident dog, Foxy and an orange cat we named Minew. We have stayed here twice in the last year (March 2023 and Jan 2024) and have booked to return March 2024.

Idle Awhile Cliffs is absolutely breathtaking! If you want the most relaxing experience go to the cliffs! The food is delicious, the employees are lovely, and the rooms are beautiful and clean. Its slow pace makes you relax in a way I never had before. The views are spectacular sunrise and sunset! Thank you Sandria and team!!!

I am writing to express my profound disappointment and concern about the deplorable experience my sister and I endured during our stay at Idle Awhile Cliffs in December 2023. Our decision to select your property for my birthday celebration was based on making reservations for a private beach dinner on the evening of my birthday. Colleen, whom we understood to be the wedding coordinator, assured us that she would personally handle the decoration and coordination of our special evening. However, on the night of my birthday, our plans took a disheartening turn. Upon arriving for dinner, the staff on duty informed us that they did not know of our private dinner reservation. Immediate contact with Colleen revealed a shocking response: "We didn't confirm the reservation." Despite finalizing all communications and paperwork a month before our arrival, Colleen suggested that "we should have reminded her to do her job." This exchange was both unprofessional and unacceptable. Despite the setback, my sister and I decided to make the best of the situation and stay for dinner. Unfortunately, the evening took an even more distressing turn when one of the staff made an offensive and racially insensitive comment, stating, "Negroes don't throw away food." This level of disrespect was not only appalling but deeply hurtful. Subsequent attempts to address the situation with the supervisor, Jermaine, proved futile. Jermaine, who claimed he was at home and unable to assist, promised to call back after consulting with the general manager, Mr. Roach. Unfortunately, no such callback was received, ruining our birthday celebration and our perception of the staff and management at Idle Awhile Cliffs. During our stay, we were dismayed to discover that the security personnel shared insights into the treatment of guests and staff, suggesting that such instances are not isolated. The revelation that staff members are reportedly treated even worse and lack basic provisions such as lunch is deeply concerning. As someone born in Jamaica who later migrated to the United States, it saddens me to witness the mistreatment of guests and staff in an industry that significantly benefits from tourism. I implore you to investigate these matters promptly, take corrective actions, and address the systemic issues affecting both guests and staff at Idle Awhile Cliffs. Furthermore, I wish to express my concern about the lack of communication. It has now been over a week, and regrettably, I have not received any follow-up or communication from anyone at Idle Awhile Cliffs. Timely and transparent communication is crucial in resolving these issues and restoring faith in the establishment's commitment to customer satisfaction. Your immediate attention to this matter is crucial, as the reputation of your establishment and the welfare of your guests and staff are at stake. I trust you will take the necessary steps to rectify these issues and prevent similar incidents.

This was our first time ever staying on the cliffs at Idle Awhile - The Cliffs. It was a beautiful property, but what really made our stay spectacular was Hopeton. Hopeton was always so prompt, courteous and made us feel so at home. He kept his work stations immaculate and we really enjoyed his company. He is someone that you can tell really loves his job.

Very pleased with our stay at Idle Awhile Cliffs, splitting the days lounging by the pool, jumping off the cliffs and visiting Idle's sister beachfront property, where you are allowed to use all amenities, including Paddle boards, chaises , towels and umbrellas. The staff at the cliffs property sometimes switch off to the beach property so you always seem to have a familiar face at either location. The Cliffs is quiet and serene. The beach more lively but we enjoyed both equally. I recommend an early swim at the pool, then shuttling to the beach for the day and returning to the cliffs for later afternoon cocktails. Special "props" and appreciation to: Hopeton Robinson who was a gentleman always. Also, praise to Leona, Elroy, Nacko (the very gracious and acommodating chef )and Claudia. Our wonderful driver Barris made stops at the supermarket during the shuttle to or from the beach for us anytime we requested, He even stopped en route for us to pick up **** chicken at one of the countless stands . Housekeeper also did a spectacular job keeping our room fresh! Odaine, our lifeguard and beach manager always greeted us with a smile and great service. Front office managers Sondrina (cliffs) and Anettha and Nicholas and the beach property were very professional and, like all of the staff, very accomodating. To Management and owners, The Issa Family" please recognize the added value that each one of your team contributes to the success of your business. Highly recommend! Chuck "Norris" ;)

We had a wonderful time on our trip to Negril at Idle Awhile the Cliffs; unfortunately, this was in spite of some let-downs by the hotel itself. We booked our transportation through the hotel (and had email confirmation to prove it) but upon arriving at the airport, it became clear they were not aware of our reservation and could not locate a driver for us. They called and called the hotel and no one answered. We waited over 30 minutes for a driver and were never given an apology. Even when we brought it up the next day, we were given excuses and never an apology. Traffic was really bad so we didn't arrive to Idle Awhile the Cliffs until 8pm - still not too late in my mind. Even though their info says the front desk is open until 10pm, when you arrive you find out that they actually close at 7pm. There was no one to welcome us or show us around - we were led to our room without a word of introduction by the security guard. When we asked where we could eat dinner, he told us the hotel restaurant closes at 7pm (this seems so early??) and that it was unsafe to walk anywhere but the place next door. We knew our room would be simple and that's fine - we booked this for the location and weren't planning on spending much time at the hotel. But when we walked in, I was taken aback. The kitchen had shabby, rusty appliances, the TV was apparently too large to mount on the wall, so it rested on our dresser, leaving cords and a large hole in the wall exposed. The bathroom fixtures were the same - a hole in the wall was plugged with toilet paper. Every evening of our stay, someone at the hotel (a security guard?) would park their car near our room, open all the doors and blast music at top volume for over an hour. It was so loud, it felt like it was in our room. This was not the peaceful experience we wanted. Every night around 2 or 3am, some of the wild dogs that roam Negril would bark and howl right outside our room - I don't understand why security wouldn't shoo them off. If you're going to stay here, I believe it's worth it to stay in the Ocean view rooms, away from the roads - you may avoid some of the noise pollution. Despite all this, we loved the location of Idle Awhile The Cliffs - the view is beautiful and the cliffs are peaceful. The ladies who man the bar/ restaurant are very nice (though service isn't what I'd call 'proactive' or quick - but that's true of everywhere in Negril). We had breakfast every morning and lunch one day and all the food was great (and good coffee!) - when the front desk is open, they do a good job of helping you with dinner reservations and arranging taxis. The food can be hit or miss - I recommend Pensing Ten and Rockhouse for the food and atmosphere combo. But there are also lots of amazing hole-in-the-wall places. Shuttle to the beach was great each day - got the best of both worlds. Just wish it ran on time (once we waited over 30 minutes).
