We are spending a few weeks in NYC and are staying in 7 different hotels around the city. The Wall Street hotel has many positive reviews, but unfortunately our experience was not that great. We booked a Carnegie suite for 2 nights. Check-in was an awkward experience. We were greeted with a bewildered “why are you here?” and when we mentioned we wanted to check-in to our room the host looked surprised and told us “I don’t see any bags” even though the doorman was standing behind us with 4 suitcases. She then went on to tell us that we didn’t get an upgrade to a higher room category, even though we didn’t ask for an upgrade. No information about the amenities of the hotel was shared. The bags were brought to our room and again no explanation about anything in the room. Housekeeping was hit and miss as the first night there was no turn down service. After check-out we found out that there is a recently opened rooftop bar in the hotel, but there is no way of knowing this from any information in the hotel, or interaction with the staff. Our biggest issue during our stay was that the hotel only offers polyester duvets which makes for an uncomfortable night’s sleep. Our travel agent always requests feather/down duvets and if not available we book somewhere else. In this case the hotel didn’t share with our travel agent that they only offer synthetic duvets. When we contacted the front desk, they didn’t offer a solution and after our travel agent contacted the hotel she received an e-mail promising a solution the next day. After we had to ask again, that “solution” came in the form of a thin cotton blanket in a duvet cover. Long story short, if you don’t mind a sweaty night’s sleep under a polyester duvet, go ahead and book a room at The Wall Street hotel. We had breakfast in La Marchande which reminded us of an episode of Fawlty Towers. We were given dinner menus at breakfast, flat white tasted bad, was sent back but stayed on the bill. Scrambled eggs were served cold, and the second order was overcooked and not the requested soft. It’s great when a hotel gets everything right. When it doesn’t, that’s fine too. As long as you get the feeling that they care about finding a solution and providing a pleasant experience. At the Wall Street hotel, we didn’t experience that at all.

Really great experience. Stayed only one night but arrived at 8am and to my surprise they went out of their way to find an open room for me. The room was very nice, clean, and modern. The staff was outstanding. From the front desk to the valet everyone was super nice and made you feel welcome. I stay in NYC often and definitely will return.
