Two doormen stationed at the front entrance saw us retrieving our luggage from the cab trunk, but made no attempt to help. I had checked in a day earlier and was great full that the room was made available at 12 PM . They did tell us there was no view; I was okay with that as we are in NY regularly and at this trip it was not a priority. I haven’t stayed at this hotel in a few years, but remembered the excellent butler service and lovely accommodations, and was looking forward to it. The checkin felt like something one would expect at a Highway motel. No explanation of any services, no welcome drink, no Butler introductions, nobody accompanied you to the room or directed you to the elevator. The room had the tiniest window, with a curtain without a valance (# 1406) facing a wall a few feet away. No Natural light what so ever. The leather head rest on the bed was ripped on a couple of spots. It had only one not very comfortable lounge chair in a fairly large king room. So if you are a couple, you cannot even sit together for a cup of coffee. In the past at checkin the butler would introduce themselves, offer coffee , tea etc and make sure you were satisfied with the accommodations. We had ballet tickets for a matinee, so initially decided to just go with the flow. Went for a quick lunch at the Astor, paid around $170 for 2 ceaser salads, a bloody mary and a glass of Duvel Leroy Champagne. I have no problems paying premium prices for value , but $28 for a Bloody Mary with a celery stalk garnish and stoli vodka? They claimed to have invented it , but definitely not worth the price. When we returned back from the ballet and returned to the room , it seemed really depressing. They call it an interior room , but it could easily be in a windowless basement. We requested a room change and requested to speak to a manager. We were told the manager was downstairs and would call us back. We were going to dinner, so left the front desk our cell number. The manager ever returned the call. On our return when we requested a room change, we were told that they were completely sold out. At this point we were exhausted an decided to just let it go and returned to our room for a good nights sleep. It was around 10:30 PM, and there was a continuous loud rumbling sound. When we called the front desk , we were told that the noise was from their service elevator which was being used a lot that night as 2 of their 4 passenger elevators had been broken for a couple of days. They offered to now move us to another room. So at 11 Pm we had to get dressed and pack up to move to another room. The new room (1903), had a moldy smell. Got up next morning with a back ache as the bed was not comfortable. In the morning the moldy smell seems to have gotten even worse and I did report that. I was told it was because of air conditioning! We called the butler for coffee in the morning. The French press coffee arrived with c

Upon entering, it gives a small boutique hotel feel due to the size of the lobby, but the rooms are anything but! Overall, a great relaxing stay that I wish was longer. This was one of the largest rooms I have had in a NYC hotel. Check-in by Cynthia was welcoming and seamless. The room was beautiful, Queen 1 BR suite that was nicely appointed with a small foyer that had a small, padded bench, comfortable living room with TV and large double doors leading into the BR. Make sure you open cabinets to find your mini-bar, and Nescafe coffee maker or you will miss it. But I liked that it was tucked away neatly. I would have loved a separate refrigerator to store my own beverages or any leftovers. If it was available, I did not see it need it this trip, but would inquire for a future stay. The room also had a walk-in closet/dressing room with a wide full-length mirror, and nice sized bathroom with glass walled walk in-shower. The bathroom wasn't large, but it the vanity was large enough for 2 people to store their toiletries, also with the walk-in closet right outside of the bathroom door, there was extra storage if needed. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in. My room was in the middle section of floors available, my views were nice enough but nothing to write home about. It you are looking for a beautiful NYC Skyline view ask for a higher floor, or room with a view, I did not request it, but I believe they would have done their best to accommodate if I had. There is an on-site restaurant Dabble. The food (breakfast) was good (not spectacular), but convenient given my stay, pricey $25-50 per person - but it is Manhattan, and this is a 5-star hotel, so I wasn't surprised at the price- you pay for convenience and or you eat there because you may have credits given your level of rewards membership which was my experience. I was happy to have that as an option and did appreciate the convenience. I would definitely return and will recommend to friends looking to elevate their NYC hotel experience.

Un petit bijou. Nous avons passé 6 nuits dans cet hôtel. Emplacement de choix, proche de nombreux lieux emblématiques, beaucoup de choses à faire à pied,sinon météo très proche , ou taxi et uber nombreux dans le secteur. Décoration sublime dans l’hôtel, très chic. Chambre magnifique, petite déception à notre arrivée tout de même, ayant réservé avec american express platinium nous avions le droit à un surclassement que nous n’avons pas eu…. Nous venions faire nos photo de mariage en plus, hôtel prévenu… la chambre est tout de même somptueuse, literie exceptionnelle ! Parfaite ! Magique ! Salle de bain sublime également , petit bémol, pas de chauffage dans la salle de bain, produit Francis K à disposition, c’est très appréciable, toilette séparé. Très bonne insonorisation de la chambre, petit déjeuner délicieux idem pour le Room service, prix à la hauteur de l’hôtel. Personnels d’une extrême gentillesses, très avenants, du loby, au restaurant, au hall d’entrée, piscine , SPA et également les dames de chambres, rien n’a redire ! Bravo à toute l’équipe ! Piscine magnifique, lit de repos top, et jacuzzi a bonne température parfait pour ce délasser après des longues journée dans les rue de NY Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir ! Nous avons trouvé notre petit cocon à NY !

Ini adalah hotel lama yang bagus, tetapi sudah tua, dan lifnya sangat kecil. Terdapat banyak lalu lintas yang menunggu untuk lif tersebut, dan anda mungkin menunggu selama 5 minit atau lebih untuk mendapatkan lif kerana hanya banyak orang yang dapat naik pada satu masa. Saya juga berharap ada perkhidmatan dobi, sama ada dilakukan oleh hotel atau layan diri.

Mereka sangat ramah dan mesra. Kami akhirnya melanjutkan untuk tinggal sepanjang minggu. Malangnya kerana COVID banyak kemudahan tidak tersedia tetapi lokasinya adalah pusat segala-galanya. Wanita di kaunter penerimaan tetamu sangat cantik.
