Hotel 3 Bintang di Newcastle

Thanks to Scomo's Parenting Vouchers, we were able to stay at the Newcastle YHA (a family room for 4 was just over $100 per night). The location was right next to some of Newcastle's best attractions... Nobbys and Newcastle Beach, Macquarie's Pier/breakwall, Memorial Walk etc. The rooms were basic with linen/towels supplied and the kitchen and bathroom facilities were excellent and clean. Apparently the building was formerly a Gentlemen's Club, then a hospital for nurses during WW1. There's an interesting history but I'll let you research it.

Excellent well furnished accommodation for one week at modest price. Comfortable, clean and sizable bedding. Unit was provided with ample complimentary amenities - soaps, shamps & cons, hair dryer, tissues etc. Very clean shower and toilet; Super hot water and excess towels. Mwave, toaster and jug with adequate plates, cutlery, cups and glasses. Simple, understandable compendium and beaut TV - Freeview & Netflix. Will definitely stay again with wonderful hosts. Exceptional stay here again at the ibis, Quick and easy check in with friendly service and request sorted with no hassles to have room on carpark side and away from the traffic noise of the highway. Room spotless clean and perfect for the stay.hotwater and heater works perfect in 238 as it the weather did drop early in the morning for the heater to go on just to get the heat flowing in the room. Comfy enough bed with decent pillows. For travellers who havent been here before..shops are about a 5 minute walj through the park eg: coles maccas aldi pubs ect.otherwise 2 shell express a few mins walk up the main drag,tho.onsite has vending machines for lollies noodles sodas ect. Good stay for a good price

It needed a little maintenance as the tap in bathroom sink was very loose and PowerPoint in kitchen coming off wall. Back courtyard would use a clean as it was full of leaves and gardens badly needed tlc. However it wasn’t nearly as bad as the reviews I read online. Inside was clean and had everything we needed. Parking was very confusing no one was in the correct spot and we had no idea where our spot was. It was very confusing to even get into the door and get the code for the room. When I rang for info they we’re not overly helpful or friendly.

Travelling with someone who is not my partner and selected a self-contained villa online. When we arrived, there was just one double bed in the shared sleeping / living room. The photos of the villas on the TMV website has only one picture showing both beds and that has the double in one room and a single in the living area. As we were not a couple, that is what we wanted and expected. We paid $150 expecting 2 rooms. I could have paid $100 in Newcastle for a single room with 2 beds. When I called the reception, I was told there was a sofa bed and if I pulled it out it should have sheets on it. The staff came to the villa and the sofa was opened, ejecting a number of crumbs, half eaten chips and an old drink bottle covered on cobwebs. The sheets were on the sofa bed, but from when? I just slept in my clothes on top of the sheets and showered in the morning. The person who had been on reception was quite dismissive suggesting the problem was because we booked on line. ( why be on booking.com if it's not ok to book on line?). If we didn't like it, we could get a refund and go somewhere else ( at 9pm on a Saturday). But to add some balance, if there had been a separate room as in the photo on the website and the bed had been made up and not filled with what had fallen down the back of the couch, then it might not have been too bad. It was clean, quiet and good enough for a one night stay. But not for $150 a night in Newcastle.
