Excellent rooms, house keeping and hospitality. The hotel staff goes all out to ensure everything is taken care in detail. Restaurants have a wide variety of culinary delights to enjoy, representative of the local delights to global delicacies. The cottages are comfortable, meeting all the requirements that go to make a delightful stay. The fireplace, upholstery, and other aspects of housekeeping are very well managed. One can look forward to a very nice, enjoyable and relaxed stay at The Retreat after the excellent safaris in Ngorongoro....

We loved this lodge over the Ngorongoro Crater. This was a relaxing and beautiful stay mid-point through a 15-day safari. Everything was perfect - the comfortable rooms, the incredible views, the friendly staff, the evening entertainment in the lounge - all of it. One afternoon, I got a facial treatment from the lady in the spa, and she did an incredible job. My skin felt so smooth for almost a week after that - which was welcome after a week on dusty safari game drives. I highly recommend you stop in to see her if you have the time. As for the food, the salad bar is extensive - with everything you could hope for. We may not get back to this part of the world again, but if you are going there this is a great place to stay.

The lodge is really like out of a movie. It is located on a remote Kopje (island rock) in the Northern Serengeti, build into the rocks. The premises are teaming with hyax animals (furry relatives to elephants ?!) and the occasional visiting baboon troupe. It is hardly possible to imagine a more special setting, where you can watch animals below from the pool. Staff was very kind and friendly and also the food was tasty.
