This is a fabulous 17th century property in the center of Nimes. All the major attractions, such as the amphitheater, are within walking distance. The optional breakfast downstairs in the dining room is very nice in buffet style. The rooms are nice and well equipped. As mentioned, there are some drawbacks to this hotel, notably: there is no on-site parking and so you have at least a 10 minute walk to the nearest large parking structure that is reasonable in cost but not free. Figure $30 overnight. Annoyingly, the hotel is in a one-way street and there are parking barriers lining the narrow street. As such, as you arrive, you have to unload your car while holding up traffic. Then you have to find the parking garage and walk back. Not a major deal, but certainly not simple. Last, as this is a 17th century building, there are quite a few steps to navigate, as other travelers have pointed out. There is an elevator, but it doesn’t mitigate all of the stairs, and certainly not the walking to and from the car. Again, not abnormal in an ancient city, but something to be aware of if you’re used to say Hilton or Hyatt parking lots in the states.

We reserved two nights at the Royal Hotel in Nimes, France. On the day we checked-in, they charged my credit card for the two nights lodging, but I was not made aware of this. When we checked out, we were given a receipt for the two nights lodging, plus parking fee and tax, which was charged to my credit card. It wasn't until I saw my credit card statement that I realized they double charged for the two nights lodging. I sent them a couple emails about the double charges, but never received a response. Fortunately, my credit card company refunded me the extra charges, and said they would deal with the hotel about the charges. I never heard more about it. The hotel is in a nice location for seeing the sights in Nimes, and the room was fine. Our room overlooked the outdoor restaurant in front of the hotel, but we did not have any noise issues at night. We did not eat there, because they did not offer gluten-free meals, but there were other restaurants in town that did. There is a public underground parking garage with an elevator that come up the street next to the hotel. Over-all, a good stay except for the double charges on the credit card.

Street parking possible but may not be close My room was clean but as were other areas but there is a need for some repairs /renovation in places. Absolutely excellent staff, friendly, helpful, and chatty Very good breakfast though standard small hotel fare, there was good choice. I cannot eat gluten and they provided freshly baked bread from their local boulangerie - exceptional service. just a few minutes walk from the old centre Comfortable bed, ground floor room window on to street but very quiet

J'ai séjourné à deux reprises dans cet hôtel pour passer des entretiens de recrutement et je peux vous assurer que l'accueil est parfait. Assuré par le propriétaire pour chaque client, il vous offre un petit café de bienvenue, une petite viennoiserie. Il a toujours un bon conseil ou un mot gentil pour ses clients, tout en étant très discret. Il m'a même servie comme dans un restaurant, des plats que je lui avais demandé de réchauffer et qui avaient été achetés au Monoprix qui se trouve à proximité. Les chambres sont très propres, l'hôtel est bien situé et vous l'aurez compris : le plus c'est l'accueil et la générosité du propriétaire et du personnel. Super vraiment ! Un grand merci ! PS : Arrivée première au jury, les négociations salariales n'ont pas pu aboutir favorablement mais si je repasse par Nîmes ; je ne manquerais pas de réserver de nouveau ;)

We were only in Provence one night so we decided to stay somewhere near one of the ancient Roman sites in Nimes. This little hotel got great reviews and our experience matches those. The hotel staff was very friendly and helped us with our bags even though we checked in very late (there's no elevator). Breakfast was good. Downtown Nimes isn't very big so it's an easy walk to both the Amphitheater and the Maison Carree (one of the best-preserved Roman temples anywhere). One note of caution: parking is a challenge. We took the high-speed train from Paris to Nimes, walked from the train station to the hotel (not the easiest walk with roller bags over cobblestones and gravel), then rented a car the next day. Problem is that you can't park near the hotel so we had to park in a public garage, walk back to the hotel for our bags, then schlep them to the garage. We managed, but it was really hot out and not a lot of fun. Overall, however, we really liked this little boutique hotel and recommend it to anyone staying in Nimes.
