This hotel is reasonably comfortably and OK for a short stay. It is walking distance to BART as well as a longish walk to Lake Merritt and its restaurants. Some good takeout restaurants are nearby, and one can eat takeout comfortably in the lobby. The immediate area is grimy and looks unsafe, though. Free coffee in the lobby is a plus. I would stay there again unless a better alternative appears.

The television did not work, I called and was told it’s the whole hotel that’s televisions don’t work but it will be fixed within 5 minutes and if it doesn’t work after that I can’t switch rooms I have to wait for a manager to reach out to me the next day. Upon arrival the front desk agent was not pleasant or attentive at all. They did not register my valet ticket in the system so instead of texting the number provided on the ticket I had to walk downstairs give valet my ticket and wait for my vehicle. The next day at around 7 I called to ask about the television situation and the were able to switch me because engineering was no longer on property, once I walked into the bathroom of the new room I noticed the sink was dirty and the drain in the shower was backwards. A very aesthetically pleasing hotel but the service does not match the looks.

Great quick and easy stay. I loved all the complimentary items (coffee, alcoholic beverage). Wi-fi was fast and easy. Loved the modernity of the rooms. Staff was helpful and friendly just at times there weren't people around and there was a bit of a wait but as soon as people showed up they were super helpful. Location was perfect for me and loved the DJ they had Friday night!

Overpriced valet as only parking option. At least they were kind and gave the option of street parking for free (with a warning to empty car and leave windows down *in the rain* to avoid breaking ins). Not much of a choice there.
The room was small and didn't even have a closet. The mini fridge was large and noisy. Kept me up at night.
The decor was nice, as was the art. The free drink ticket was also nice, they had a NA beer for me at the snack counter.

I booked a stay at the Moxy for New Years and it was a great relaxing stay. The bar staff/check in were extremely friendly and welcoming. If you’re looking for a fun ambiance/relaxing energy with aesthetic decor definitely recommend booking with the Moxy.
I will be booking again when I’m back in town!

Property was conveniently located to East Bay Area attractions and freeway access. Very friendly and accommodating staff as well, This was our second time staying here and we'll certainly return in the future,

When the reservation was made, didn’t realize it was trendy hotel. It geared to a much younger crowd. No place to hang your clothes. No iron or board. There was no mention of incidentals being charged to my card in the amount of $200. We flew in from LA hence no need to use valet as I was told it would cover any charges. Wish I had done a little better researching it

For some people they may find the area not the best- but super close to the Lake for a walk, and also a lot of street art and murals- but be sure to use the Valet. The hotel was great- super unique and great art, and gym- and lounge area, and patio- clean, sleak, artsy- and the rooms and bathrooms super clean and well kept-
