Alua Helios Bay - All Inclusive

From walking into reception at silly o'clock in the morning when we offered food and drink, our holiday was great. Staff were exceptional and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was on the 7th floor, it was very spacious and was cleaned and linen/ towels changed every day. It was coming to the end of the season but Savi and the rest of the animation team still worked tirelessly every day apart from Sundays (day off) to make sure we were entertained, or left you alone if you didn't want to participate in all activities. The town is about a 10-15 walk away, the square is very pretty, with all the usual tourist stuff but the silver shops are plentiful and some lovely jewellery. The only downside was when a work convention arrived at the hotel for a few days, took over the hotel and were in general very rude and moved furniture constantly in the bars and restaurants making it really difficult to navigate your way around, but when they left, normality was restored( even the staff were pleased, but were too polite to let it show) All in all, would recommend this hotel and would definitely return to Bulgaria.

This hotel was fabulous! Completely surpassed all of my expectations. Firstly, I can't fault the attitude or work ethic of a single member of staff. They were all so helpful, friendly and alert. The food was exceptional, especially compared to other all inclusive holidays I've been on in recent years. There was always plenty of choice and food was accessible for the majority of the day with the restaurant and snack bar. The drinks were fizzy, and there was always plenty of staff manning the bars so even a queue of 10-15 people infront of you was gone in minutes. The rooms were clean and had plenty of space as well as all having a sea view. The complimentary refillable shampoo, conditioner and shower gel as well as pool towels were also very well received. The pool area was well maintained, but the water was FREEZING! The indoor pool more than made up for it though. I'd definitely recommend the upgrade to the My Favourite Club for a better room, private sunbathing area and seperate lounge with fridges of branded mixers and cakes/chocolates etc.. Outside of the hotel was a little quiet in terms of activities and bars etc. but there was a long, flat, beach front walk that was about an hour there and back.

My husband and I have just got back from Bulgaria, it was our first time. We just wanted a relaxing holiday and It was. The staff at the Alua Helios Bay Hotel in Obzor, were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room and bathroom were spacious and immaculate. The food was fantastic, you could eat and drink all day if you wish. I think I definitely have gained a few pounds. LOL The entertainment staff were all hardworking, we played darts and bocca, which was fun. We will definitely be going back ⛱️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Arrived to a friendly welcome. Lovely room. Lovely pool with plenty of sun loungers - although they aren't very comfortable. Lovely beach - sun beds - these are not owned by the hotel and are allocated to another hotel but if any are spare after 11am you can pay for 2 sunbeds and a sunlounger for 21 lev. Well worth it as the sea is warmer than the pool. Staff don't pester you to partake in activities round the pool. No loud music round the pool. Really relaxing. Drinks are great. Beer, wine, Fanta, coke, etc. Proseco. Cocktails were good especially the mojitoes. Walked into Obzor town. Lots of little shops. No one pesters you, lovely little square with a lovely water fountain. Food in the main restaurant is plentiful but as normal for all inclusive can be repetitive. We ate most nights in the al a carte restaurant's as not so busy and cooked fresh. These need booking in advance but manage to book five visits in our 7 day stay. Our room was facing East so had an amazing sun rise. Entertainment wasn't the best but the staff do this and did there best.

A friend went here in June and when I took a look at the Jet2 site I was taken with it - very odd for me because we have not holidayed for 9 years. The whole holiday from start to finish was genuinely wonderful 24hrs before arrival I requested a high room and preferably no one above us and could we be on the end as I am a very light sleeper - perfect - top floor and only 1 neighbour on one side, which we never heard!! Due to the comments about booking the a la carte restaurant I asked at the front desk how to do this - Michael told me - to be at the main restaurant at 6.30 when it opens for dinner and the restaurant manager is there to greet the guests through the door - exactly so, our first night I had booked the a la carte - no issues - however, it's not a la carte - but it was nice to be out of the busy main restaurant. Although, as the weather was lovely we sat on the terrace and dined there which was delightful - great view!! It's fair to say that the Hotel is not THE best but it is not pretending to be - the staff everywhere are working their socks off!! WELL DONE Everyone - Thank You!!!

Worst place ever been avoid. Food is terrible cook everything in oil and like a school canteen set up. Can't take food out of restaurant it says, but people do. No snacks around pool like updated hotels offer at lunch etc all in the limited cafe or main menu. Drinks they do let you get your own cokes etc by pool bar and coffee etc only thing that was a plus. No water unless from a chiller the eco friendly may approve but at 2am if you haven't filled your flask your in trouble. Whole hotel must have gone downhill as apparently was Rui and reviews were great, each to there own I guess but felt like back in 1980s needs a makeover and update. Sunbeds poor and uncomfortable and parasols cant be moved set in uniformed lines terrible. Beach have to pay for sunbeds again 1980s... Entertainment usual kids club come variety show come music not nightclub as advertise. Rooftop cocktail bar is just sun upstairs to pool bar where everyone with taste wants to get away to and even that is covered in flies. The upgrade...is it worth it...the only good part I would say is you get an extra lounge you gets snacks and drinks from canned and bottles and water, in my opinion saved the holiday but that's me and my taste. Would I go back 100 definately not.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Helios Bay. We had a fab family holiday with our 2 children aged 7 and 4. The rooms were spacious and modern and cleaned every day. Exactly what you need. The food was good. Always something to choose from for all three meals. Always fresh and you can see the chefs cooking it behind the serving counter which I thought was good. Can be a bit repetitive but I always find that the case with all inclusive. My kids particularly enjoyed the freshly made waffles at breakfast smothered in chocolate sauce. We didn’t go to the additional restaurants so can’t comment on those. The pool bar was great for food during the day when the kids didn’t want to go to the main restaurant. Pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets available all day along with self serve ice cream! Only complaint we had was the rudeness of the other guests. There was a lot of different nationalities staying at the hotel and some don’t understand the concept of queuing or just generally waiting your turn. No fault of the hotel as these quests also tended to be rude to the staff too. The bars were great too. Never waited more than a couple of minutes to be served. Cocktails and mocktails were nice and my kids loved the Cinderella cocktail! The pool area was good and always a sunbeds available. And the beach was amazing. The waves can be quite rough in the sea but my kids loved diving into them and having a great laugh. No sunbeds on the beach from the hotel but there are some a bit further down that you can pay for. The entertainment was good and enjoyed by our two children. They joined in with different activities and attended kids club and enjoyed both. My youngest enjoyed the mini disco in the evening and the shows were good too. We ventured out to the local town a couple of times. 10 minute walk from the hotel and there are a few restaurants to eat and shops to browse. Also a little park and some activities for the kids to do too. We also went to the waterpark in Nessebar. 200lev for a return taxi (about £80) but it was well worth it as the park is amazing! Deffo recommend a visit if you like slides etc. All in all we have no complaints about the hotel and would recommend to anyone and are considering retuning next year.

Fantastic family holiday, first time visiting Bulgaria and we will be back! Hotel was good plenty to do and food was available pretty much all day. They have breakfast and lunch bits downstairs in the restaurant instead of going to the buffet which suited us much better as my son doesn’t like busy places the food was plentiful and had a good choice my fussy eaters managed to have 3 meals a day, on site shop was well stocked although the woman in there could do with giving a smile once in a while or maybe even greeting you with a hello she didn’t speak to us once not even to tell us how much we had spent it was a very strange interaction. I had a massage which was fantastic and the entertainment team were great! Nice spacious room for a family of 4 would visit again maybe if it was a cheap last minute deal again my only gripe would be that we were on the lower floor and instead of having the lovely sea view from the balcony we were greeted with a brick wall at chair height and a roof full of bird poo and what I presume were the balcony above toe nail clippings maybe ask for a higher floor if you are booking

• This hotel was super clean with perfect sized rooms for us, • The all inclusive Food was well prepared and had a good variety even fussy eaters will find enough to please themselves. • Staff were always happy to answer questions the best they could but would always find someone who could help if they didn’t understand some requests. • Pool was brilliant never felt over crowded and was refreshing (cleaned daily). • Sun beds despite the hotel requesting you not reserve them unfortunately you had to get up early to ensure you could have space around the pool ( we luckily were up early everyday to get beds ). • the hotel had a clear guide on what was happening each day you can find the information at the main reception and just below next to the night club heading towards the pool. • we stayed the first 10 days of the uk school holidays so not many British families around but we met some unbelievably nice people from all around and was easy to pick out a face in the crowds for a friendly chat at any point. • Now may absolute favourite thing about this hotel was the Animation Team Savi, Domi, Soyban, Ivana ,Prezi and Nikki what an amazing team they were,I do no apologies for this being the biggest part of my review, from the first moment we interacted with the team they were fantastic, day one we wanted to get our selves settled and enjoy the sun and pool, the team approached us a few times to explain some activities they had on and to let us know about the show they were putting on that night ( no pressure to join in or attend the show ) So day two we agreed that we would try and do as many of the activities as possible which included yoga, Prezi made this feel easy to do and was always fun to engage with she nearly tricked me into attempting the splits 😂, Sojlback (similar to shuffle board) Soyban was great fun while hosting this and got everyone involved with some great motivation and now matter what you had a good laugh with other guests, Crazy game (always a surprise so I wont ruin it ) but so fun and Domi will always be ready to deliver a flamingo for zero scores (you will want to get zero a lot lol), Water Polo Prezi and the team would get a good mix of people involved in this and this was my Daughters favourite thing mainly because my record was 6 loses until our final day when I finally got a win haha was that bad that every Entertainer asked each day if I won or not we had a big celebration when I got my Win, Darts was a big hit for me and my Stepson Ivana was the best host on Darts and when it came to motivation ask for the Mexican wave. Water aerobics, Zumba/ step aerobics all looked brilliant I only managed to try Zumba once (I completely failed at it) Boccia and volleyball are great team games that get you talking to other Guests and Soyban makes them fun to be involved in, and finally the family game this was fun and easy for any age group to attempt and right next to the pool so kids could play while parents watch on from the clo
