Hotel berhampiran 岡谷湖畔公園 遊具ひろば, Okaya

We intended to check out the Lake Suwa area of Nagano to view the autumn leaves, which were peaking during the time of our visit, and we couldn't think of a better option than to return to the marvelous Sui Suwako ryokan. We were pleased to find that the establishment was as delightful as we remembered it. We stayed here just a year and a half ago, so I won't go into detail regarding every aspect of our stay. Just a few things that bear repeating, however. At just 8 rooms, this ryokan offers an incredibly bespoke experience for each group of guests. Also, each of the rooms has its own in-room free-flowing Onsen (hot springs) bath. And should you want to enjoy the open-air Onsen on the roof (with an awesome view of Lake Suwa, especially at sunset), you can take a dip with members of other genders because swimsuits are not only permitted, but are available to borrow from the ryokan. Service level is very high here. As was the case last time, we were assigned a butler that tended to our room as well as our meals (which are served in a private ko****su room for each and every group of guests.) Our wonderful butler during our previous stay was on leave of absence, but we were delighted to have gotten to know the wonderful Ms. Minri Ko, who was as competent, attentive and knowledgeable as she was warm and charming. The dining experience was sublime. Not every offering was a ”best ever” serving, but that's not what we were after (nor should you seek it here.) While everything really is delicious, what's more impressive is their ability to serve local dishes with local ingredients, which really adds to the overall sense of place. Soba (buckwheat noodles), Basashi (raw horsemeat), Wakasagi (Japanese Smelt from Lake Suwa) Tempura were among the highlights. Breakfast was equally imaginative and well executed - many ryokans really mail in the breakfast - they're all good (how can Japanese breakfasts not be?), but can be the same 'ol thing. At Sui Suwako, they really go the extra mile in bringing out the flavors of the local, seasonal produce and fish from the area. Yet again, we left Sui Suwako with a deeper understanding and appreciation of this part of Japan. And that's part of why we travel to far-flung places, right?

是衝著洗温泉而選擇的酒店，酒店開業有些年頭了，所以設施稍顯陳舊。温泉不錯，水質很好，而且可供選擇的温泉有好幾個。自助早餐也很豐富，酒店對面就是諏訪湖，風景很美。酒店距離車站不遠，可預約接送站服務。

We decided to stop in Suwa to break up a long drive back to Tokyo. Shinyu looked very good and the price was reasonable. The hotel is renovated and gives a nice modern spa hotel atmosphere. The greeting at the hotel is very nice and the lobby area is beautiful. We felt very welcomed when we arrived. Our room was facing the lake. It was Japanese style with tatami and futons. Nice room, nice view. The public bath was nice. Not huge but felt very good. They have an indoor bath, small outdoor bath, a sauna and a cold bath. Dinner was great, as was breakfast. They were both courses and delicious. Service? Well, this is what makes all the difference. When we book hotels we need to detail my daughter's food allergies which are serious. For this trip we had booked many hotels in a row and for some reason when we booked Shinyu and checked-in we just forgot. It was our fault and when we sat for dinner we saw her prepared meal that she obviously could not eat. The staff at Shinyu didn't miss a beat. The didn't make a big deal about it. No stress. The quickly adjusted and made a wonderful dinner for my daughter and also prepared for her breakfast in similar fashion. Wonderful. Such great service. Maybe the building isn't perfect. But the service was perfect. Shinyu was our last stop on our trip and we left with a smile. Shinyu gets an ”Excellent” from my family.

諏訪湖に面した箱多めの旅館でした。 駐車場はそれほど広くはないのかホテルの方が移動するサービスとなっておりました。ちょうど夏の花火の時期だったので宿周辺は花火目当ての車で渋滞が発生していてホテルに着くまで一苦労でした。 夏の風物詩の花火。コロナで開催が見送られている場所も多いだけに連日打ちあがられるこの花火の催しはこの時期非常にありがたい。 客室からだと正面の建屋が邪魔でよく見えなかったので湖岸まで出向いて鑑賞させていただきました。 お風呂は触れ込み通りの朱色に染まった温泉でした。 湯があり後の花梨エキスが美味でした。 時期的に団体さんの利用が多かったことと喫煙室が部屋から近かった点が気に入りませんでした。建物はバブルの時期に造られたのでしょうか？ 場所場所に老朽化している部分が見受けられました。 とにかく湖岸に近いので立地は最高と言えますがホスピタリティはいまいちだったかな。

２年ぶりに宿泊しました。部屋も清潔に保たれており好感が持てます。チェックインの時のフロントの男性が少し不愛想なのが少し気になりましたが、それ以外は問題ありませんでした。コロナ禍、大浴場の入場を制限しているのか、ロッカーが３個しか利用できるようになっていませんでしたが、私が行った時間には誰もおらず、貸切状態でした。お湯も少し熱めで、寒波のなか体を温めることができました。客室のエアコンの効きが若干悪く、温まるまで時間がかかりました。 朝食は、８時過ぎに行きましたがそこそこおかずもありました。無料朝食ということと宿泊料の安さからは相応なのかと思いました。 ちなみに、建物の上部にある看板灯が切れているので、初めて利用される方は注意が必要です。

This was a stopover hotel for our tour of Japan. It's well-located, walking distance to the railway station. The hotel carpark is small and we ended up in a garage about a 7-minute walk away. (10-minute if you have luggage.) We ended up in the executive floor. The rooms were all right in size. The major plus is the 14th floor executive lounge. We were there on New Year Day but ALL the restaurants that looked decent said they would only allow us in with reservations. We had not expected that. Fortunately, we had a good fill at the lounge, went to MacDonald's (across the road from the Railway Station) for a burger and then returned to the Lounge to top up with drinks. Although it was near the closing time for the lounge, still the staff topped up the food. Breakfast was pretty good. But the dining area is somewhat small. So we had to wait 10 minutes. They do have a picnic arrangement, which was pretty charming. Staff were friendly, things worked. Yes, I would recommend this.

とてもきれいで、値段も安くて、最高でした。 大浴場も良かったです。 ここはまた宿泊したいと思いました！ カプセルですが、その辺のホテルより全然良いです！！

The hotel is right next to the train station which made it very convenient. In addition, it’s within walking distance to the attractions. The room is clean and quiet. Japanese breakfast was included and it was tasty. And the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
