Hotel berhampiran Castello di Pedres, Olbia

We enjoyed staying here. It’s definitely worth up grading to a room with a balcony, which we did after the first night. The breakfast was excellent and lots to choose from. It’s about a 20 min walk into the main part of the city, where there are lots of more touristy places to eat and see. Lots of cruise ships dock, so there’s always a lot of visitors, but it gives it a vibrant vibe. There are more restaurants to choose from locally and definitely worth looking for, as more authentic. Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful and you get a fresh cookie on arrival, which was home Made and delicious. Overall, a nice hotel. Bedrooms were a good size and nice. Bottles of water are provided in the refrigerator but you have to pay €2.50 ea small bottle! Pool area is big and lots of beds.

Located within 2 minutes walking distance of the lively town of Olbia. Only 10 minutes drive from the airport and the picturesque beach of Pittulongu. Excellent service provided by the staff. We had a late evening flight on our departure day. The hotel gave us a room to rest, shower and change for free. Amazing service! We also got a lot of help to book taxis and good recommendations for restaurants. Variety and quality of the breakfast buffet is very good.

We booked this hotel with my friends to spend a nice holiday by the pool and the beach, but unfortunately there were many many wrong things with this hotel. First, the Reception was not rude but not helpful at all. Every time we would ask for some information (because they didn't give us any) or basic things, their reply where either ” I don't know” or ”No no no”...I work in hotels and this is not the service of a 4 star rated hotel. Either the team is not trained enough and they are lacking a manager on site. The breakfast was terrible. Everything was already precooked, poor quality and even the coffee was bad (we are in Italy! that shouldn't be complicated). The room was quite large and spacious. The overall cleaning was ok, but if you started looking like the windows or the curtains, it was bad. They had a lot of stains. The pool area is nice, but nowhere is mentioned that we are next to a loud road and an industrial area (not nice). The worst, was when I wanted to go the pool in the morning, stopped by Reception to ask the opening hours, they told me 9:00 AM and showed me the sign that mentioned it there. I went then to the pool at 9:30 AM and got inside the water. The lifeguard came to me shouting to get out as the pool opened at 10:00 AM. He literally kicked me out of the water. I told him that was not the information given to me at Reception. I, obviously, went to complain of their misinformation and the answer was ”oh I am sorry”. There are a lot of rules and threats written (like no eating anything that doesn't come from the hotel IN YOUR ROOM, or you'll get a 200€ fine) all over the hotel of everything you cannot do, it doesn't feel very welcoming. We had several episodes like this, but you can get an overall picture. Overall, this is not the 4 star service expected for the price paid and the descriptions on site. Very disappointed...

Arriving late at night to the hotel we literally got taken to our room. After travelling all day and arriving to temps of over 30 degrees we weren’t even offered a glass of water! Rooms were lovely, well equipped and spacious. Paid for a balcony but ours was not big enough to sit out on, we would have been touching knees. Rooms were well cleaned every day and mini bars replenished daily (although you pay for everything in mini bar). Breakfast was lovely, big choice. Staff were lovely. There were signs up saying you CANNOT take food from the restaurant. The pool area is lovely but only 17 sun beds and half had been replaced with hardboard where rattan had obviously come apart. Although they had cushions on top, those ones were so hard and uncomfortable to lie on. They need to invest in new ones and either some more or some reclining chairs (as there is not an enormous amount of space). There was only about 4 umbrellas which is not enough especially as the temperature is so high throughout the summer. You can only get a drink between 10 and 3 by either using whatever is in your mini bar or asking at reception who will and said they will only serve basics. The proper bar opens at 3pm for any drinks and a few snacks like toasted sandwiches and mozzarella/tomatoes. There is a very small supermarket about 4 min walk, it does not have a lot of choice but have some basics. It’s open 8-1 then closed until 5-8 so very limited. So you need to think carefully about food and drink when booking this hotel. No pool towels are available and there is nowhere that I could find in the village that sold them. The village is very pretty and we ate in 5 restaurants and they were all very good. Local wine is very good. There was a few shops all pretty expensive. High end clothes shops, swimwear shops, linen clothes shops. A pretty square and it is quite buzzy at night. Restaurants need to be booked. It’s rare to get a table but just walking in. The pool area is very very quiet, you find yourself whispering which isn’t that comfortable. In the bar area they have background music and I think they should extend it to pool area to make it more relaxing. The restaurant at the hotel is lovely. Independent from the hotel, it’s high end but great quality food and wines. They give a discount if you are staying at the hotel. The day we were leaving we asked reception could someone come and help with our luggage and the lady said “the man isn’t here”. I asked her is there not another man on site, she said she would call me back. It was 3 or 4 flights of stairs. After a while she called back and said “I found a man”. To say I was grateful is an understatement. So I would say it’s a very pretty hotel in quite a rural setting. Breakfast is great but found food/drink for rest of the day needed thought. We’ve just returned from a wonderful 12 nights at this hotel (though only 10 were originally planned). The location is very easy to access by public transport from Olbia airport, though we did use a taxi when we arrived (taxis are not cheap on Sardinia). Our room was exactly what we needed to give us a relaxed time, and with a great view over to Tavalora. And a good sized pool was just along the corridor too. We like the option of a small kitchenette in our room, which means we didn’t need to worry about breakfast times or snacks during the day. Plenty of places to eat within walking distance (although some had closed for end of their high season) and the hotel also serves good quality evening meals which proved very useful the evening the heavens opened and we were saved a wet trek for food. Our special appreciation for the hotel’s reception staff who were a great help to us throughout our stay, particularly with guidance on a medical need at the start of our hols (we’d not heard of Guardia Medica Turistica before) and also extending our stay by 2 days when EasyJet cancelled our flight home (we certainly didn’t mind staying an extra two nights!) We’d love to return to this area to experience it in a different season, in which case we’d certainly come back to this hotel.
