This is a relatively new hotel in Shin-umeda area, the closest station is JR Fukushima station, while Umeda/Osaka station itself requires 20+ minutes walking. For the room is what you would expected from Moxy with everything you need and nothing you may don't want. The room is quite small but still big for Japanese standard. The good part is they have plenty of public communal area, as usual for Moxy hotels. But my major concern is the quality of service, which I could classified as one of the worst service I ever got from my over a decade travel back and forth to Japan, even when compared with other Moxy in Japan and even cheap Japanese business hotels. Normally what you can expect from Japanese hotel is their precision and informative. While most cheaper hotels may not go above and beyond in service, but they always get everything fundamentals right. They always be clear with you on what you can get and what you can't, at what time and which circumstances. However at Moxy Shin-umeda, non of those applies. During my check-in the font desk staff (where I found out later that he is in the 'supervisor' level) failed to inform me many crucial information like coffee machine service, housekeeping schedule, elite discount benefits or hotel laundry/gym facilities. I have to, by myself, discover each of those by myself during my 5-night stay one-by-one. Therefore missed many opportunities that I could make most of those facilities they may have, and in some case disturbing my work schedule. There're two more services issues in my concern. First is about F&B service where they decided to serve dessert with ice cream before udon, forcing me to eat ice cream before my main is it will melt. Secondly they didn't change my linens on my fourth day of the stay, arguing that I didn't put the change-linen sheet on the bed. While this could be my fault, I still find it very gross that their policy is to not change a linen, even after four nights, unless guest specifically asked to. (In my experiences most hotel will change linen every three nights regardless.) At first I decided not to write this review, however I just had another stay and stumbled upon another issue. So I decided that I should write this.

아마 오사카에 와도 다시는 이 호텔에 올 일은 없을거고 주변에 누가 간다고 해도 추천을 하지는 못 할 것 같다. 위치도, 서비스도, 객실도 어느 하나 좋은 것이 없다. When I checked in it was 8pm, and my room was not assigned, and okay I understood that situation. But when I signed in, the staff show me the room rate about 95,000 JPY. As I remember I reserved the room as 56,000 JPY. So, I checked the Marriott App, but it was changed to 94,xxxx JPY. I cannot understand why. Anyway I found my confirmation email and showed it to the staff. Unless I checked the confirmation I should have paid double. Finally, I got a room on the 5th floor, and the room… it was really disappointing. No view… it was faced another building’s wall. So, I called the reception twice, but nobody picked up the phone. I came down to the reception and asked to change my room to the higher floor or to the better view. The male staff said it was fully booked and no king bed room on the day. Okay, I can understand because it was already 8pm. So I asked him to change the room next day then. But he said it is fully booked again so no more better rooms because the better rooms are for the elite members. I don’t understand what he said because I’ve worked at Marriott hotels at the front desk more than 10 years and never said to guest that ways and I don’t think even he really tried to find a room for me. I saw the OPERA screen when he checked it and I knew he didn’t check the availability. He just pretended to check it. If this hotel is like what he said, I don’t know how many elite members come here, non Marriott elite members should’t come to this hotel during weekend because they will have rooms on the low floor without any view. I didn’t ask one more room, I just asked to change my room. So, it doesn’t matter if the rooms are fully occupied or not.

The location is quite good. Next to the Umeda Sky Building so it’s easy to find. However it’s a 5-10 min walk to the big department store, but the walk is okay. There is a shuttle bus service which makes it very nice also. The room is quite big and of course everything was nice and clean. The breakfast was amazing! I love the hotel and would stay again!

Very clean (I have high cleanliness standards) and new. Appreciate the many amenities, many thoughtful, some unique and even never see before in hotel! Very useful that even have microwave, self-service laundry, drinks vending machine. Requested for quiet room and it was quiet, which I really appreciate. Very comfortable stay! Arigato!! Concierge staff generally friendly and helpful, except the one (I think not Japanese) who helped translate to Chinese (Japanese staff had difficulty explaining in English and I could speak Chinese). Rude, sarcastic, inpatient, not understanding to medical condition. Really a shame. Also, the rules for housekeeping a bit weird and confusing. Else would be near perfect!

There’s breakfast teabags available at front desk But no sugar or creamer ?? So it’s not possible to take them to make tea at all and why do the hotel have to be so incomplete with the stuff provided … overall not up to the other few hotels in the same area nearby Fukushima Subway station

Ia sangat mudah digunakan berhampiran stesen. Penampilannya klasik, mewah, perasaan istimewa, dan saya rasa tidak dapat merasakannya di hotel lain !! Sekiranya anda agak prihatin, ada sedikit tentangan dari saya bahawa pakaian bilik itu sedikit seperti paman dan tersekat dengan bau, tetapi saya tidak mempedulikannya, jadi saya akan memahaminya lain kali.

Stayed 2 nights at the Ritz Carlton earlier in the week during my first business trip to Japan after Covid. Must confess that was really impressed. Excellent service, great staff and in general hotel very well equipped. Room was spacious, clean, with a great bed allowing for very good night sleep, very good performing wifi, great bathroom very well equipped including a very nice set of salt for the bath. Definitely hotel gives a lot of attention to detail and you can see it during your stay. There was an air purifier in my room, which was a bit noisy, so I had to unplug it during the night. This didn't bother me at all, but maybe something to check by the hotel management. All in all, perfect stay. Will definitely return on my next trip to Osaka.
